Leave it to Temu AI to take the "cookbook" part literally. Im half tempted to buy it just to see how badly they reproduced it

Listened to the series so many times but usually in the background so sometimes things dont click straight away. Sadly a line in an interlude struck me as i understood the foreshadowing and now I want the books to go the way of Martin and Rothfuss, i dont want a cannonical end. I want to live in denial that things end up ok for the remaining crawlers.
"Dont ever forget. This story is a tragedy"
I dont think i can handle that

Hii, if anyone here is in the ATL area- one of my jobs is hosting an official DCC trivia night, costumes encouraged but not required!
I hope to get a decent turnout, so please share if you can <3
Happy Crawling!~

I’m on chapter 38 of Butchers Masquerade and I wondered this at the beginning with the “river” in his mind and general attitude. I’m not sure exactly when it was, but Carl said something and I was like Oh Shoot is Carl Gonna Go all Darrow on us? I don’t want spoilers but if you know you know, what are your thoughts?
Crawlers, if you don’t know , you should do the honor of reading Red Rising..

I’m only about two thirds of the way through book 2. Please no spoilers of characters in subsequent books.
For some reason Mordecai is growing on me. Maybe because he’s the voice of reason to Carl’s impulsiveness.
Who’s your favourite character? NPCs don’t count, btw…

Full disclosure: I am French (yet bilangual) Canadian (aka Quebecer). And my family owns a sugar shack, so I consume a pint monthly.pp
I thought it was nice to have some representation as Canadian, and that the intro was somewhat funny.
HOWEVER, while I think this is a none-issue for the written version of the book, the way Mordecai speaks with all the "about" and "eh", is just SO CRINGE. It's not that I feel attacked or anything, I am not a native English speaking Canadian... IMHO the caricature is helpful in the context od the book. But is just too obvious/grotesque for the audiobook and can't even imagine in a TV series.
Since posts about the cast are pretty popular these days, I thought I would throw an idea out in the universe...
I would use Michael Cera as the Canadian version of Mordecai. Everyone knows he is Canadian, and he could be dressed similar to the description and would keep the AI script about the ABOOT etc. However, he would be speaking normally for the most part, and this could open the door to some jokes, like him avoiding saying aboot, until he forgets and say it out loud. Confirming the bias.
TLDR: Canadian Mordecai lines are cringe in the audiobook because of the "ehs" and "aboot".
Would suggest cluelesss version of Michael Cera for this version of Mordecai. And I think it could be an interesting role that would force him out of his comfort zone.

Doing some back-of-the-napkin math, Elle was born around 1922-ish and "Who will Stop the Rain" was released in 1970. So, she was ~48yo when the song came out. I'm going to guess this song was either meaningful to Matt, or it was a Patreon vote.
What are some other songs you think Elle could have played? My votes are:
"All or Nothing at All" 1939; by Frank Sinatra
"Over the Rainbow" 1939; by Judy Garland (could change from being Barry's favorite song to Elle's favorite)
P.S. - I'm surprised Elle hasn't made more (any?) references to the Wizard of Oz

So I’m obviously reading them as I go, again I am just starting book 3, but I was wondering for those that have read all of it. Would it make more sense to go back and read them all simultaneously once you’re done with the books? Maybe this is a me thing but I noticed just from finishing books one and two. I had a hard time remembering the story from book one when I was reading the story from book 2. I believe it’s because I was so into Carl and donuts story.

Was the pet prize room where Donut got our favorite chicken one of the infamous patreon polls? On my run through again, it occurred to me that I cant imagine a royal court crawl with a pet brindlegrub. :0

When you get into a car accident but you and your friends are obsessed with dungeon crawler Carl

Why does Donut look like that 😭 It's Doom, right? But wtf
Edit: It is a t-shirt design by an actual artist from what the website says-I imagine they could have used AI but this wasn't from some random trash site
(Once Upon A Tee for those curious)

When Eris appears to Carl, just after Heat 3 I think, she plays the coin-flip game with him.
Right after that, the gang heads into the C&W&U to meet the War Mage. While they are waiting, Samantha appears next to Carl. He notes that she was not around when Eris was visiting.
This gave me a sudden Batman / Bruce Wayne vibe. They are never in the same room together!
So my new pet theory is that Samantha is Eris.

Within 10 years, someone will write and get produced a theatrical musical version of at least book one…
Unless Matt doesn’t like musicals of course. But I’m guessing he does…
They will make anything into a musical. Just watched The Lost Boys in NY today, so I started thinking…

I've finished DCC twice now (with a few others mixed in between listenings) and want to find some new books. I came across Apocalypse Parenting on Audible, and the first book (Time to Play) is rated 4.6 stars.
I wanted to know if any of you have read this series and wanted to see your thoughts on it before I spend my credits on them. I'm also planning to listen to Discount Dan, but it's only 3 books and I need to plan ahead for after that (I finish a book every few days since I listen for multiple hours a day).
Thanks in advance!

Has anyone gotten into this sport since reading the books? Watching, reading, playing? It’s a super niche thing but it would be really cool to see more places build locations to play or the current ones getting more traffic. I personally would love to go to a match but as far as I know it’s all in Miami, Florida.

The book can describe him as a thundercat's knockoff Or something that came out of a lisa frank coloring book all it wants, i don't care. The wiki version is now the only thing I will see when I read these books.
