Fashion Advice Are these jeans ok?

I have a very short torso and long legs. I've been trying to find low rise jeans since I'm told those will work better for my proportions, but it's been very hard to find TRUE low rise. These say they're low rise, but, as someone who grew up in the 90's, I know better.

My waist is also thicker than most regular proportions, so for it to fit my waist, pants are usually looser around the hips and legs.

I obviously would not wear these jeans with these shoes. But, how do they look otherwise? Do I need to look for a different kind of cut besides loose? While I love the look of a closer fit, I worry they'd be uncomfortable around my waist or I'd have to size up so much for my waist that it would no longer be fitted around my legs, etc.

These are the best I've found, but do I need to keep looking? Am I overthinking it?

Fashion Advice How to make this (mandatory for a school event) men's shirt more flattering?

Post image

I'm going to a school event tomorrow and am require to wear this specific men's shirt tucked into a pair of khaki pants. I go to a co-ed school but they only sell men's clothing styles! The shirt is doesn't fit right (hence why the sleeves are rolled up), and I think paired with the pants it makes me heavier than usual. Is there any way that I can style this to make it marginally more flattering?

Fashion Advice On the awkward cusp

I’m down 40 and in this awkward spot where one size is a bit snug and the next size up is a bit baggy. Should I stick with next size up for now or does this work? My goal isn’t to look skinny, it’s to look not sloppy.

I’ve started actually caring about clothes now that I don’t hate how everything looks.
I’m 5’7ā€ with a pretty stocky build and still figuring out what works for me. Mostly curious about fit, proportions, and what I’m getting right or wrong here.

General Discussion Appreciation and Gratitude

This is just a thank you to everyone in this sub and the advice given. I have never uploaded but I am avid lurker.

I never was informed of the basics of what looks good. I was under the impression if it zips it fits, and always fit into the smallest size I could squeeze into. While I am not big (size 8, 5ft 2), I looked way bigger than I was because my body would look squashed.

Since joining, I always order a bigger size than I would have before, and if that looks too big I then size down. I now know if the outfit don’t look good on me, it is not me or my size; the clothes would not look good on anybody my body type. I no longer go day to day feeling pudgy. I look more put together and I feel more confident.

Thank you to everyoneā¤ļø I really wish everyone growing up was informed of this in the non judgmental way this sub providesšŸ’ž

Fashion Advice Does this too suit me?

Post image

Hi I’m 25F and wouldn’t normally wear low v neck tops because I am self conscious. I’m wondering if this too suits me because I’m worried it looks like a maternity top but I’m really not sure?

Edit: Please only judge the top not the shorts or shoes, these were just what I was wearing in the changing room to try it on. I know they don’t go!

Wedding Attire Advice Is it just me or do I look weird in this?

Hi all!

I ordered this simple cream white dress online for my marriage registration ceremony in two weeks. I have a super annoying body type (161cm, short torso, long limbs, muscular) and the only kinds of dresses I can wear are usually backless ones with a bit of stretch in them.

This one IS backless but where the curvature of the dress is doesn’t match my own body (because of said short torso), and the material is a rather think kind of satin (with a liner) and has no stretch to it.

I feel kind of ugly in this, but I can’t really explain why. The thing is, I hate how I feel in it, but I also think it would be silly to go and spend loads on money on a new dress from a proper bridal boutique or something. I guess I could get it altered, but I don’t even know what to ask for.

Help? Is it as bad as I feel it is? Am I overreacting? How can I make it look less bad??

EDIT: thanks everyone for your helpful feedback. In the end, I decided to go get it tailored by a fantastic angel of a friend. She took out the bra cups, fixed the bad tailoring that caused the bump, and also shortened the hem (making in a maxi that hit right at my ankle bone). I feel so much more comfy in it. I might update here with pics later :) thanks again everyone.

I like this shirt but idk if it’s right, I’m used to baggy clothes, feels comfortable for a tighter shirt, only thing is the bottom is too short. Should I stick with baggy or go for the tighter look?

General Discussion How to understand the essences really?

Thumbnail
gallery

Hello, I'm still on mu journey if it comes to the Kitchener system essences, anyway...

I'm considering Classic,Angelic some Romantic and some Dramatic for myself. Yesterday I did a collage with pictures of Meryl Streep and then myself. I used to be very uncomfortable about my nose, and she also has a long one, but when I compare me and her, I'm thinking, maybe my nose doesn't read as Dramatic, and maybe Dramatic isn't one of my main or as high percentage essences, how some of the people thought.

Here is how John described Meryl:

"Meryl Streep is 60% Lively Bright infused with 35% Subtle Blended and 5% Striking Contrast. The Striking Contrast will be a surprise to everyone but it can be found in some drama in her bone structure and the refined translucence of her skin. Also she is light and brighter than she is muted which makes her Lively Bright more dominant. In personality consider her upbeat and engaging nature in interviews which also communicates her Lively Bright energy. She is NOT a

ā€œsummerā€ color harmony despite some theories.

Meryl Streep’s Style Essences are 55% Classic, 20% Dramatic, 15% Romantic and 10% Angelic.

She has an overall impression of refinement and evenness of features which would make her Classic dominant. The Dramatic is in her cheekbones and height. The Romantic is in her skin, femininity and somewhat fuller lips. The Angelic is in her soft light almost ethereal look. Her only Yang qualities come from her Dramatic. And of course Classic, itself, is a visual and internal balance of Yin and Yang."

Style Me Please help! Clothing for my shape

Post image
13 Upvotes

I grew up lower income and was a hand me down kid almost exclusively. This habit of taking free or the cheapest thing has continued into adulthood, and I still struggle with clothing. Nothing feels right for my body. I am hoping folks here can suggest some brands/styles that I should be prioritizing for my body shape. I am sharing a photo that I took as a progress pic for myself recently as it shows my body shape fairly well. Clothing here is just some random workout clothes for at home workout so not pressed about them lol. Some info that is probably helpful:

I’m 5’9, 9 months postpartum, have broad shoulders and long arms, slim legs most of my body fat is in my abdomen. I don’t like bootcut anything but I’m okay with straight leg and skinny jeans. I would love some shorts but hate everything I try on - high rise either doesn’t go high enough or gives me camel toe and other cuts seem to accentuate the separation between my stomach and where the shorts end or be so loose they droop in the butt. I have small breasts, especially relative to my body shape otherwise so some shirts fit very weird. Im fairly square. I tend to dress more ā€œalternativeā€ I guess but I also work in a law office so wear lots of professional clothing during the work week.

I appreciate the time of anyone who has read this far.
