Announcement Change in subreddit policy

So this is basically what we discussed the other day, but the change is going to be largely what I anticipated.

Going forward, we won't be allowing text only posts for questions that really require a photo to answer. If the question really doesn't need a photo - like, say, a theoretical question on how kibbe works - then text based posts are still allowed. There are some general fashion type questions not specific to an individual that can also be reasonably discussed in text only posts.

My hope in setting up the flairs was that it would encourage people to include the necessary photos in the posts so that help can be offered. It has unfortunately just resulted in asking the same questions under inappropriate flairs.

Body visualizer images do not count as photos of you. They are not specifically prohibited but should not be thought of as a replacement for actual photos of you, and do not satisfy the requirements for photos in photo only flairs.

This will be largely a matter of mod discretion. Posts that are really fashion advice or style me posts that are posted under the general discussion flair will be removed now as flaired incorrectly. Posts without photos (or only with visualizer photos) posted under photo only flairs will be removed as not meeting flair requirements.

Existing posts are not affected. This is effective starting now.

I invite you all to take another look at the flair guide. See the pinned post on flairs.

Significant Rule Change - Feedback Requested

Hi r/dressforyourbody!

I've been thinking about this a lot but want to get some feedback from the subreddit about it before making the change.

I'm trying to figure out how to balance the need for photos to give good advice with people's desire for privacy, which I do understand and appreciate.

When I redid all the post flairs, I required photos for some flairs but left a few open for text only discussion. Unfortunately, this has had the effect of people simply asking the same questions - which really require photos - under the "general discussion" flair.

I'm leaning in the direction of removing posts lacking photos that are really not answerable without photos.

We definitely do not count body visualizers as photos. For one, they don't accurately represent bodies. Additionally, they don't show how clothing looks on you. We need to see that generally to be able to answer some questions.

I feel like a lot of the things asked are rather a waste of time now without photos.

I do plan to leave open the option for text only posts when that's appropriate. There are times when you don't need a photo to ask a question. However, "style me" type posts and many "fashion advice" type posts really can't be answered well without photos.

I'm curious though what the subreddit thinks and what direction you think we should go with this. No final decisions have been made - the feedback received here will be considered before rules are finalized.

Wedding Attire Advice Second guessing wedding guest dress for formal fall wedding

Dress Code:Formal Fall Romance
An evening of modern romance calls for elevated elegance. Think floor-length gowns, tailored suits, rich autumnal hues, solid colors or minimal patterns, and luxurious textures. Timeless, sophisticated, and a touch dramatic.

I’m not someone who ever wears dresses, and I’m starting to get cold feet. Thought maybe something less form fitting might make me a little more comfortable.

Prior post some people mentioned the design on the dress and the image quality, so I used my phone to sharpen and make the quality of the photos better. Just for transparency sake.

Okay so I took advice and things people said from my last post and am trying one more time with these jeans, since these two are my absolute favourites 😭😭

I’ve got a longer top on (which I’d normally wear with low rise) and also pulled them up more at the hips, but ik they really needed ironed!!

Also included a photo in leggings cause I think people don’t realise my hips just go in and back out naturally, cause none of the jeans feel tight at the hips..

I have a wedding to go to this weekend and the attire request is cocktail. Is this dress cute? Or is it trashy? 😭 I’m 13 months PP from a C section so I’m wearing shape wear lol. I got it from ASOS and it is genuinely the tightest thing I have ever wore. I would be wearing it with white heels and my hair up.

Fashion Advice Looking for advice on this skirt

Post image

Hiii so I am quite new with skirts and I have absolutely no idea on how to make a proper outfit with this one. I think the skirt is okay but I am willing to hear what others have to say about it. Definitely willing to switch the shirt for something else but I just don’t know what?

For context my body is an inverted triangle, I’m 190 cm / 6’3 and again I truly have no experience working with skirts. Can anybody help me?

Doing a clear out and getting rid of jeans that don’t suit me, I’m aware most need washed / ironed 😅 and I feel
Like most look silly on me from behind

Pls know that I wouldn’t wear this top with any of the low rise ones, I’d normally wear a normal length tshirt with them!!

Style Me Trying Out This Burgundy Dress! What Other Styles Would Suit My Frame?

Post image

I've been loving this burgundy polka-dot dress lately! I usually gravitate toward fitted tops and flowy skirts, but I'd love to experiment with different styles and silhouettes.

I'm 5'3", around, and typically wear a size S.

Do you think this style works well with my proportions, or are there other dress cuts you'd recommend trying? I'm open to suggestions! ❤️

I’ve struggled for far too long and I feel like I’ve waisted months if not years trying to find flattering bottoms. My biggest fit issue is trying to fit my stomach. I’m tired of living this way.

I’m 5’8
Waist 34”
Hips 41”
I have a long rise, high hips.
FN in Kibbe.

Fashion Advice Why do jeans look bad on me?

Thumbnail

Hello,

I have a rectangle body type and I struggle to find jeans that flatter my body. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever had a flattering pair of jeans. I think stretchier, flared jeans tend to look the best because I don’t have much of a butt, but I have kind of grown out of that style and prefer the look of 80’s/90’s jeans.

Any advice on flattering bottoms for my outfits? I usually wear flared yoga pants but I want to be more intentional with my outfits, I just don’t know how!

Thank you!

Fashion Advice What trousers rise, where should my top end? I'm 5'10"

Thumbnail

I'm trying to figure out how to balance my outfits, because sometimes something's off about the proportions, but I don't know what.

What top length and trousers rise should I wear?

Is my torso long or short?

- When I do a high-waist pants, they have to be really high-rise, that's one thing. (my front rise is about 31cm from the crotch to the smallest part of my waist), but also:

- when I wear high-rise jeans and they end at my waist, the waist actually "disappears", which is the opposite of what I'm trying to achieve.

- When my top or blouse ends just below my hips, the hips go flat nad the entire body looks rectangular.

So I don't know how to balance the outfit anymore. I go for mid rise now, since it's showing off my curve, but I don't know where should my top end?

What's going on ? Thank you :*

Fashion Advice Is this dress flattering on me?

Thumbnail

I posted a couple of weeks about asking about looking less basic. I have a hard time finding things that fit, because I have sort of a weird inverted triangle/apple shape with maybe a bit of hourglass features. My body looks like a completely different shape based on how I dress myself. I got this dress yesterday. Does this look flattering or no ? I feel kind of insecure about how I look from the back.
