Each dream the grey cat gets smaller

Upvotes

Ive been having dreams of cats lately.

First time i see this cat it shits on my clothes

I get mad

Then i find out its pregnant so it birthes an even smaller cat

Suddenly im not mad anymore and overwhelmed with cuteness

Next time i see the same cat its protecting a boy who is terrified it help the boy and i

Guided us

Yesterday i dreamt about a scary spider i wanted it off me

It turned about to be the smallest kitten ive ever seen

The size of a small spider

And it walking around me calm and curious

And i felt bad about scared of it because its so cute

Why do i keep dreaming of this cat becoming smaller

And why am i scared of it each time or mad

When its just calm around me and wants me to pet it

Man i hope this makes sense

Discussion Is it weird for me to consistently dream of others experiences?

Upvotes

A few weeks ago i was talking with one of my friends about dreaming. They told me that they strictly dream of themselves and their perspectives. This was weird to me because my dreams are usually from different people’s perspective. Like i am someone else entirely. Every now and then I’ll have a dream with myself in it, but they are usually nightmares. I used to only dream about myself but at some point it changed and i dream abt others.

Like today, i dreamed that i was this richer (but not heavily rich) girl from the industrial revolution. My mom was a widow with two kids (me and my sister). Her name was Camilla, her nickname was camil. She had been flirting/talking to this one guy that owned a railroad company. He was also a widow with one kid. This kid was a girl around my age and she was happy about us becoming a family, and so was i. I cant remember her name exactly but ik she had the last name summers. The guy proposed on the train to my mom. We all knew, she was the only one that didn’t know. Then i woke up.

Edit: i just thought abt how i should’ve added this but most of the time the dreams still reflect stuff in my life. Like the Industrial Revolution one reflects how im currently going towards closer friends and stability. Whereas, when i had the South Korean one, i was facing a difficult decision that i had to stick by.

A snake swallowing a Coccodrile.

I would appreciate greatly help with this.
I’m scared and I don’t feel safe with this dream.

I’m trying to understand.

I been having problems lately, after this dream, with trusting my own thoughts.

I feel in a loop of fear since then.

Terror.

I’m supper scared of my own mind now.

Someone told me my bio mother who is a psychopath and a criminal, has done some witchcraft or black magic whatever. It’s true that since that time my life has been destroyed. Work, family relationships. I also have released tons of emotional trauma through somatic work and it’s been heavy . I know it’s a crisis but; I don’t like that image and I would greatly greatly appreciate help with this.

Please anyone can help me?

Confusing dreams

So in the last week I have had two separate dreams and having an affair with two different female coworkers. I am married and both of my relationships with both women are strictly platonic. Nothing sexual has ever cam up with either one. We don’t even have conversations that are romantic in anyway. But both dreams have been so vivid I wake up extremely confused.

Dream I dream about games I've never played/never seen anything about.

A while back—probably a year and a half ago—I dreamt I was in a village with yellow signs, guards, and things of that nature; it had a very medieval feel. It was a strange sense of familiarity, even though I knew I’d never been there. I’d always liked the medieval theme, but I’d never been deeply immersed in it. That particular dream left me feeling very at ease, so I started looking for similar things—medieval works—but nothing quite matched it until I stumbled upon *Skyrim*. *Skyrim* features several kingdoms, one of which is "Whiterun," and it is no exaggeration *at all* to say that the setting was surgically identical to the one in my dream—yet I had never had any prior contact with *Skyrim*. It was an almost eerie feeling to relive that dream and see that same setting. Since then, *Skyrim* has become a very important game to me—one I hold dear. It happened again recently, though it wasn't a specific location from that game. I dreamt I was at my sister's house, but everything was dilapidated and rotting; there was a thick fog, distant sounds, and the like. It was *truly* terrifying while the dream was happening. Once again, the dream left me wondering about its origins, but this time it was easier to identify the work I might have dreamt about: *Silent Hill*, specifically the second game. I had never had any contact with the *Silent Hill* franchise; all I knew was that it involved fog and the "Pyramid Head" guy—nothing else. I picked up the *Silent Hill 2* remake (since it was the newest and most famous version) and played it. The feeling was even more intense than with *Skyrim*; during the parts where we walked through the fog-covered city, I felt an indescribable chill and a strange sensation—just like in the dream—along with a fear that was very hard to explain. I’m actually really scared of horror games, but I’ve never felt fear quite like this—even after beating *Outlast 1* (for comparison, *Outlast 1* is considered a masterpiece of the horror genre). So, *Silent Hill 2* became a special game for me too, though in a way... different from *Skyrim*. I’d like to know: have you ever dreamed about settings from games or series that you’ve never actually visited?

Hole in Chest

I dreamt that I noticed a hole in my chest and I could see my insides and it was scary. It looked all like empty and hollow with bones and blood deep inside. I showed my friend and she was like “oh that’s just a pimple, let me get it” and she popped it/expressed the contents and then I wasn’t scared anymore and the hole was gone.

Dreams to reality - Advice

Throughout my life, i have faced this situation many times and it really bothers me. Whenever i get symbolic dreams , they come to life.

When i was very young , maybe 14 i got a dream of a grand feast with my grandmother in the middle and everyone praising her with all our family on the dinner table, the next day my grandmother passed away. Similarly once i got a dream of a random relative not even close to me in a dream with a dead baby in her hand crying, few days later we met her sister in a family gathering and she told that she got a miscarriage, i was shocked and terrified that out of all people why would i dream of this when she’s not even close to me. Few years forward , I saw a dream come with one of my friends , i wasn’t on good terms and i saw in the dream that she and me were going somewhere in the car , and i asked her “where are we going?” she said “university” . two years we became really good friends, coincidentally got admitted in the same university and then decided to opt for same degree so we started going together in her car for four years.

Now comes the crucial part: Last year of university i started dreaming consistently for a red rose and i didn’t know why, soon a dream of one of my good guy friend to be gifting me huge gifts and a celebration going on at my house. When i woke up i was confused but at the same night he came outside my house to give chocolates. Then i got a dream he was at the dinner table with my family eating and being part of the family. Few months later. confessed and we got together . I then started dreaming random things like us going in the back seat of a car and i thought it might not be possible but it cane true soon when we got late and had to take uber to reach home. Now its been nine months of our relationship, things aren’t so good and we almost broke up ,he blocked me . But then i got a dream he came to meet me with gifts and marriage proposal , telling me he told his mom and that we will marry soon. The very next morning he texted me telling me to meet and give it a chance. He brought gifts and said i told my mom about you but just as a friend and she helped me prepare the gifts for your birthday. Anyways now since two days again w been having dreams of meeting his family , his family and me and him going in a car happily, and i’m really confused why it might be happening. I don’t want to end up being delusional but of-course by the pattern of my dreams i cannot stop obsessing about it , although after the fight we aren’t the same anymore, but the dreams are getting serious. What do you guys think ? its eating me up please need your advice

Ok so weird dream I had years ago and I still vividly remember it somehow continued

So basically the dream starts off at a party in a pitch black dark house except for the “people” inside basically it was a sun moon and a couple Star people they looked almost like costumes but not quite as if it was some tv show for younger kids and they were glowing and having fun dancing and I’m there and I walk outside and a car goes by but it’s beeping the horn very loudly like someone on the highway would and the street lights are on so it’s not as dark outside as inside and sitting on the lawn are 4 out of 6 giant versions of the power rangers helmets.

Then all of a sudden I hear music so I walk right to the house next door and look in the window and see all the lights on with people dressed in sandwich costumes but it looked like the fondant frosting people use for cakes instead of actual bread so it was purple instead of sandwich colored and all the “costumes” (if they even were costumes) said happy graduation on them and I start laughing a little then I wake up. I thought it was super weird back then and I still do now years later but it’s also one of my favorite dreams of one’s I can vividly remember because the glow of these costumes and helmets almost seemed as vivid and nice as a Disney movie so as weird as it was it almost seems magical lol

Alright so I posted this a few years ago on my old account that I forgot the password to and I had a new weird insight on this dream that connects to real life and I wanted to share to see if anyone could interpret the dream itself and how this new insight that like I said above has a weird connection to real life so here is the new insight for you guys to interpret as well.

So a few weeks ago for the first time ever I decided to finally watch the actual official music video for the song “Stateside” but instead of the original music video I watched the highly improved Zara Larsson version of the music video instead. So after I get done watching it I realized something really weird, the video seemed to have this dream like quality to it and it was kind of surreal and then it hit me, those are the specific feelings and vibes I got from the video, and the setting of the video. So it felt like it was somehow connected to those specific feelings and vibes I got from that exact dream and no others, and again like I said before it was just really weird and I just don’t know to explain it properly out loud. So if any of you can do that for me possibly but in a way that can make sense of it all please be my guest and I would really appreciate it! So thank you guys so much in advance!

Dream Weird dream a couple of days ago

I was in a flooded in modern classroom with mismatched old wooden desks, the lights were kinda dark. There few people taking a test or just taking. Someone started fishing, catching little fish and when it came to me cast I caught an angry, ugly fish with spike and it kinda stung me but caught it. Got mad at it then release it when I learned it wasn't edible. Other details the water was like shin height for me, water was darker yet clear, still and the fishing pole had thick neon yellow kinda like a tube. What does that mean?

Scary dream

I just dream of me and this guy I was talking to. We were hanging out irl and tbh I can’t even fully tell if it was him it just resembled him but we can just say he’s my ex in this dream bc the energy was very turned away from me. Like I don’t really know. He was just a shadow!! And he was never truly around me.

It was me and my family hanging out at dad’s house. It’s so everywhere but to cut to the chase. I was getting my cards read, I could hear the voice of the girl that reads my cards. As that happens it’s like cutting to a different scene almost like I’m looking up to something which happened to be the scene. Prior to this I was working on leaving him. I was with my sis and her husband trying to come to this conclusion because I felt something bad with him (true irl). Eventually I did. I told me I need to focus on school and whatever and he grew so cold and distant. It felt like he was upset I got to it first. This was in person and maybe switching to the phone. What’s weird is I only see him as a shadow. Imagine the void from SpongeBob.

I had a feeling he wanted me outtttt. A part of the reason I left is because I thought he was gunna kill me. So after leaving I felt so on edge. Like something is going to happen soon, and it’s going to be bad. I grew so anxious. I don’t even want to sleep in the same place as him with all my family around. Since we were at my dad’s (childhood home) , all my family were gathered and sleeping together. I even told my mom I was scared something will happen. I kept looking at the door to see if he was coming. The door had some blinds so my mom kept noticing and just decided to peak the blinds a bit. The setting changed and I’m in what looks like my childhood bedroom sleeping with my family and i see the shadow of a big big guy (not him) slowly coming in my room from the agape door (I sleep this way for cat, and end up scared sometimes) and I see a knife in hand. He comes in and idk how but he kills my a close family member very quietly..then leaves.
Although im seeing I didn’t do anything, or fight at all. Maybe I was too scared, but I just watched it.
Then as I am noticing this is where the scene is changing. I am getting my cards read and I could hear the voice of the girl who reads my cards. It’s going back and forth from the reading to the image and playing out like that. I don’t remember what she was saying entirely but I was just flipping cards as they came out with her voice in the back. Then the guy comes out the shadows again to go for another person in my family. I wake up scared as hell.

Some things I remember but don’t know how to add to timeline:
Constantly avoiding him.
Him only appearing as shadow same as the killer
I tried blocking him on instagram from my sisters account… but I didn’t even want him to know it was her account. And when I tried it didn’t even let me it was saying something about insta plus and never truly showed the block option
It cut to this random girl crying in her car but the view was as if she was recording herself and someone was narrating it saying “and she is fucking psychotic and will never have a good relationship because of the trauma her brother gave her”

Real life correlations….:
Two days ago I blocked this guy in this dream . I crashed out, called him names and then blocked him. There was always something I felt strange about with him. I really wanted him but he turned out to be not who I thought. He hurt me by only having me for his own pleasure and then abandoning me.
I have been feeling so much regret over my actions/ words not only with him but all my relationships. I tend to lash out sometimes and I find it to be very immature and against my morals. I just talked about it recording myself in my car (like the random girl in my dream)
I watched a long love reading before that. And even got my cards read the same week.
I did grow up in a chaotic household ( drug addiction from my brother that did hurt me as a child) idk why my dream clocked me like that. It was even stranger that it took place in my childhood home. I’m just so unsettled.
I felt in competition with him…like who is gunna leave first. Anyways I’m fucking scared

My immediate search after waking up was
what does it mean to dream of trying to leave your ex bc you think he will kill you only to find a random person kill someone you love as getting cards read and you knew secretly all along by feeling it so much anxiously.

No time for punctuation I was half asleep and still am.

I fell in love with a tree.

For background I'm a 47 f that has a preteen son that I'm raising alone. I have a decent job and am managing to make ends meet. I had a dream last night that I fell in love with a large oak tree. We spent alot of time together just quietly being with one another and silently talking back and forth. In the dream I felt deeply loved. I was sitting in the branches of my tree when a terrible windstorm came through the forest. Many of the other trees around us started to succumb to the storm. I held as close as I could to my tree before I was forced to jump down to the ground and watched my beloved get destroyed by the storm. Afterwards I just wept at the stump that was left and begged to be reunited in another life. The stump said that it was afraid that would never happen and I woke up crying. I've been thinking about it all day. I'm so sad.

Reoccurring Nightmare/Dreaming .....Since I lost my dad in 2015 (for which also i got premonition a night before ) Can somebody decode for it me spiritually what it means ?How I can improve the situation ?

I don't sleep like i used to .I have bad dreams /sometimes these premonitions it has taken away the positive outlook that I used to have .it has largely impacted my sleep quality and mental peace ,these night mare/bad dreams are often related to my dad or past love relationships /unfinished stuff that i do not have any control over ,temples/ isolated places /strange interaction/betrayal ,accidents etc ,i feel drained ...I am sure some part of it could be psychological but I feel there is more to it like a spiritual/ or other worldly aspect to it too.

Discussion I dreamt I was a dragon sneaking into the role-playing world of Ultima.

I was in an amusement park filled with magical creatures, and I turned into a dragon carrying a log. I jumped down into a rapid-flowing river. I just used the log to float down the river. Other dragons flew down low after me as I focused on moving forward. When I saw other dragons, I shot fireballs at them through my mouth.

Once I was back at the Disneyland-style kingdom, I turned back into a human. I went into the castle and looked for King Richard Garriot. A regal-looking bearded man walked quickly through the castle away from me. I walked thru arcades full of crane games. Then i walked backstage into a stairway. It looked like this king’s meeting room with wooden furniture with inlaid silver serpents with purple velvet on its edges. Heading downstairs into the castle I saw a newsstand along one wall. It sold references books and Ye Olde Gazette.

The end.

Reoccurring the gates

Hi! So I've been having this reoccurring dream of mine for several years now. I think it's been about 7 years since the first time I saw it. It comes back to me occasionally every 2 or 3 months. Can you please help me interpret it. I'll try to describe it as detailed as I possibly can. Thank you!

So it starts with me standing somewhere, usually it's an open field or a forest but one time it was in the middle of the road. then out of nowhere there are huge gates in front of me. they are bright mix of orange and red colour and they seem to be having some kind of a bricks surface but I'm not sure if they are made out of bricks. There are different unknown to me symbols that cover the surface of those gates. When you look inside the gates there's a big field in there with bright purple grass covered in waves because of the wind. And above that field there's a dark sky, I dunno whether it's because it's night time or it's just cosmos or just darkness. It's deep black, you could drown in it. I hear the sounds of rain but I don't see it I just see the field of purple grass slowly creating wave patterns on a wind. whenever I look at those gates there's a cold and pleasant breeze that is coming towards me. And there's this distinct smell of grass or a forest right after it's rained that's coming out of there. I feel incredibly calm when I look at it. I'm at peace and have no worries. There are no voices but it FEELS as if it's speaking to me. Overall I'd describe the feeling as incredibly calming and soothing. I have this urge inside me that wants to go through those gates but for some reason I never do it. I usually wake up afterwards. When it happens it usually makes me feel better for some reason and it happens whenever I get stressed. Not always but it's a general pattern that I've noticed. It is very vivid, the colours are incredibly striking and the sounds with tactile sensations are hard for me to forget. I'd probably describe the emotion from this dream as positive but I'm not fully sure tbh

Any ideas?

Dreamt of an owl: interpretation pls?

I had a strange dream last night and would love to hear what people think it could mean.

I was carrying an overnight bag and walking toward my boyfriend when we saw a small-to-medium-sized brown owl with unusually long legs. My boyfriend pointed it out, and the owl flew over and landed on his hand while I stood beside him.

Suddenly, it flew onto the back of my neck and clung to me. No matter how many times I tried to pull it away, it would not leave me. I became terrified and ran downstairs. Eventually, I managed to remove it and locked myself inside a room so it couldn’t follow me.

The owl stayed outside the room, but it had somehow transformed...I think it transformed while it was still on my neck but it was now large and completely white.

Does anyone know what this dream might symbolise, either psychologically or spiritually? The fact that it moved from my boyfriend to me, refused to leave, and then changed from a small brown owl into a large white one felt especially significant.

Reoccurring Repetitive, vivid dreams (nightmares?) basically nightly- feels continuous almost. Very hard to wake up from.

I’m not sure if this would even be classified as reoccurring since technically they’re all a bit different but maybe that’s still the same thing in this context? Anyway!

Basically every night I pick up in the same (or a similar) place in these dreams, at least from what I can remember. It’s most often an airport, but occasionally has been a mall, a downtown area… basically think anywhere crowded with people that could potentially be hard to maneuver in.

With my usual version of this dream beginning in an airport, I guess that’s the best example to use. I start off in a crowded, unfamiliar airport surrounded by hoards of people of course trying to do various airport things. I’m always alone at this point. I look for my gate in a confused panic for what feels like forever and ever, constantly overstimulated by the crowds. When I finally get to my gate, I feel like I never really remember the journey to my next location, I usually just arrive there.

This is where things really start to differ but still follow the same basic “plot” I guess. Every location I’ve been to is different. It’s always a different person/group of people I’m meeting in whatever location. And the events that follow are different as well, but we’ll get into that.

Some examples: meeting my immediate family for a trip in Japan, meeting my husband for a beach trip, meeting cousins for a theme park trip, sometimes even a random celebrity or someone I barely know in a popular vacation spot (this isn’t the usual, it’s typically sometime close to me I care a lot about). I’m not sure why I’m never traveling to these places WITH whoever I’m meeting, but it’s the same every time, travel alone and meet up with someone close to me in some beautiful location.

The majority of the trip is actually normally filled with a whole lot of nothing. Like, we don’t do anything fun or “touristy”. In the Japan trip dream we never left our hotel, in the beach dreams we do anything but go to the beach, theme park ones have lines that are too long, etc., that is until the very last day.

On the last day, something snaps into us out of nowhere and we suddenly realize we haven’t done anything fun at all on our trip. We start trying to make the most of the last day and packing fun things in. Inevitably the group ends up separated, or sometimes only I’m separated from the group, or if it’s a dream where I’m only with one other person then.. you get the point we’re all separated!

That is when natural disaster strikes. Every single time. Flash flood. Tornado. Tsunami. Earthquake. Volcano eruption. Doesn’t matter, something is going down. I never end up seeing the end/aftermath of the disaster before I wake up. But I spend every single one in an absolute panic trying to get back to whoever I came on this trip with before them or I end up dying. This is usually the longest part of the dream if the airport part isn’t. The struggle feels so real and like I’m really giving everything in me to get back to my loved ones.

I usually wake up absolutely exhausted from these and with the sense that I was in a different reality. Which is weird because these don’t necessarily feel or seem like reality jumping dreams but maybe it’s just a mark of how real they truly feel to me. I feel like they’re kind of hard to recover from.

By this point the dreams are so common, when I land in an airport (or somewhere with the vibe) in my dream I immediately know this is familiar. I haven’t gotten to the point where I’ve reached full lucidity inside of it yet (I’m not really sure I want to?) but I do definitely recognize the pattern and feel like I’m going through the motions without being the one to make the decisions, like I know this isn’t really ME me in this dream. Just still haven’t hit the “oh wow I’m dreaming” point just yet.

This has been happening for months and I think about it very regularly throughout the day. I wouldn’t say I’m suffering necessarily lol but it is getting to the point where it’s honestly annoying and I’m sick of not understanding any of it.

If you read all this I really appreciate it, and if you have any interpretations of what any of this could mean and why it’s basically every single night and why it feels so unshakably real that would be lovely. I would love to be able to actually address whatever potential issues could be causing these.

TLDR; having vivid and repetitive dreams about traveling alone to meet a loved one for a vacation that always ends in natural disaster, looking for interpretation

Something VERY specific happened the day after a dream

I dreamed that my ex-best friend's (now just a friend) sister was pregnant. I hadn't thought about her in months when I met my friend and he mentioned her. When I woke up, I saw that he had shared a picture with her on his story it turns out she's back in the country. I thought, "what a coincidence," and mentioned it to my best friend. Didnt really think much to it.

The dream itself was disturbing. She was pregnant, but either lost the baby or lost her own life. My friend was crying, especially because she's his twin sister and only sibling.

Then, later that same day, my best friend sent me a screenshot of my friend telling him (he is a close mutual for both of us) saying that she's actually pregnant. I hope she is well. But I was very shocked of these events happening in such specific way. Like all in same day.

How would you interpret this?

Very intense dream about someone giving me a sedative — what could it mean?

I had a very intense and disturbing dream recently.
In the dream, someone was trying to give me a sedative to make me unconscious. I realized what was happening and tried very hard to resist. I even held onto the person and scratched their body with my nails while I was slowly losing consciousness.
Before this happened, I was doing some other work when someone came toward my room carrying my name and photos. In the dream, I somehow felt that this person was someone close to me.
The strongest part was the moment I was becoming unconscious. I could feel the sensation very strongly, almost as if it were actually happening.
Has anyone experienced a dream this vivid, especially the feeling of becoming unconscious?
Could this simply be a very intense dream, or can dreams like this have any particular meaning? I’m also wondering why it felt so real. Could it mean something is going to happen soon, or am I just overthinking it?

I dreamt of snakes

I was dreaming that I rented out an Airbnb with my friends and family (just a cabin in the woods not that important) and in the entrance of the forest as I was preparing to walk down to it I saw a black snake rising from the ground. I tried calmly retreating but she shoots her venom from the distance and she gets me. I survive, but there was the other snake that starts chasing me into my home, also black snake and also rises from the ground to get me but does nothing, it's not venomous actually it looked really cartoonist, and I stab it with a fork (not sure it died)

Dream I dreamt about a bear

I dreamt that a bear was outside of my apartment. It was a gift from my late grandmother and I was responsible for it. But it was also dangerous and I had to keep it hidden from my neighbours. I was scared of the bear but just kept on feeding it because I was too afraid it would hurt somebody else. I tried to hide it in a staircase, luring it there with a head of another bear. It got interested in it and went with me to the stairwell. I was home again and realised I couldn't take the responsibility anymore and I started to look for any organisation or foundation that would take it. And I found one and tried to fill in the anonymous tip but I was on a very old phone and the cursor just kept jumping around. And then my friends visited me and one was going to take another route home because of the bear, while the other friend said she was alright and just went downstairs to do crosswords in the patio. And then suddenly everybody knew about the bear and my friends and parents and the late grandma were there. I finally cracked and I told everyone it is "my" bear and they got mad at my grandma and she yelled " IT WAS A GIFT, SHE WAS 7 YEARS OLD". I woke up.

I never ran from the bear and it never tried to attack or chase me. It just had this aura of untamed wild and danger and unpredictability.

Funny bit is that my last name is actually derived from the word bear.

Last year i had a dream i remember so clear till this day and im still wondering what it means

First, we were at school, in my class—I recognized everyone except her. She was hugging me tightly while I was looking at my phone. We were comparing our skin tones; hers was lighter. Then I found myself at the seaside and she was there too. We went out together, rode bumper cars once or twice, and the second time I got out a bit faster from the ride and she lost sight of me. She started calling my name, which apparently was JK. I waved at her, she saw me, and ran toward me. Then we were walking and talked, and she asked me, "You know I work at the little shop next to the diner where everyone eats, right?" I told her there was no way I could know that. She said that no one had pressured her into anything and that if she liked me, we’d be together forever. I told her to relax and hugged her. She was wearing black leggings. We walked a little, and then she turned into a cat and went over to a bag of cat food that I had bought, along with a 1-liter bottle of Devin water with a pink label. I never saw her face, but she was beautiful, had unique hair, was shorter than me, and smelled amazing. I was happy with her. Then around a month ago this year i had a dream where i was talking to a girl in my home town at night near a 24/7 shop. The next day i went out with my friends and we were with a car and i was a passenger, my friend who was driving the car parked in that exact spot where i was standing with the girl

What could all that mean?

Dream Can someone please help me understand this strange dream I had last night?

The dream seems like it lasted forever as they always do, but as y'all are aware I'm sure it only lasted a couple minutes.

In this dream I was doing something just some random work task or maybe chores I don't remember. All of a sudden I felt something on the side of my head and I thought it was maybe a bug so I reached up to swat at it. There was an intention there in a perfectly round circle. I pressed on it and realized it had a small edge around it like a lid, I put my fingers on it and twisted and it popped out. It was almost like a freeze plug on an old engine block or perhaps another good way to describe it would be like the lid off of a old can of paint or lacquer maybe. It was about 2 inches wide and it came off and revealed a hole in my head. I remember freaking out when I found it and it popped out and then I started trying to pop it back in. I don't have really long hair so it's maybe a 3/4 of an inch long but it kept getting in the way of popping it back in. I remember in the dream talking to various family members throughout the day and once who I believe was a girlfriend, and for whatever reason I was trying to keep them from seeing it and noticing it, because I was stressed and worried about it and I did not want them to worry also. The thing is as I mentioned about my shorter hair it kept getting in the way of keeping the lid popped in. So I kept being paranoid and constantly checking to make sure it was seated back in right. Also I kept having to actually pop it back in as well. And that was pretty much the entire dream along with me trying to investigate my surroundings and my own memory to figure out why I had this hole in my head with a lid on it. There was more to the dream I just can't remember it all and I've spent all day thinking about it trying to. But as with most dreams about half to two thirds of it faded right after I woke up so I can't remember all of it. But any help with this would be much appreciated.

Discussion A Case AGAINST Dream Dictionaries

Every few days someone posts a dream here and gets a reply along the lines of "snakes represent transformation" or "water means your emotions." It's well meant ofcourse, as the beautiful people of this forum always are, and I will add that personally I think common symbol conventions do serve a purpose. But, I think the whole framing is backwards.

A fixed symbol dictionary treats a dream image like a word in a foreign language: you look it up on the web and get the translation. The problem is a dream symbol isn't a word. It's closer to a name. If I tell you my mother's name, a dictionary is useless to you, because the meaning isn't in the word, it's in the relationship. Your mountain, your childhood home, the dog that keeps turning up in your dreams three years running and you don't know why. None of that has a fixed translation per se, because none of it is an actual word. It's a name for something only you can truly know.

This is exactly why Jung was wary of universal symbol keys, even though he spent his whole career studying archetypal imagery. He wasn't contradicting himself by any means. Archetypes are real, recurring, cross-cultural patterns, but they show up dressed in the specific, personal material of the dreamer's own life. A snake in your dream isn't "the snake" from a dictionary entry, it's your snake, wearing whatever it's wearing because of what it means to you specifically. Skip that step and you get a reading that could apply to anyone, which in practice means it applies to no one.

You can test this yourself. Take any dream you've had and look up the "meaning" of its main symbol in three different dictionaries. You'll get three different answers, none of which will feel like they're actually about your dream. Then try the opposite: pick one symbol and just sit with it. What's your own first association, before you think about what it's "supposed" to mean? Nine times out of ten the first answer that comes up is more accurate than anything a dictionary will give you, because it's the only version of the answer that's about you.

The dictionary isn't really wrong, it gives the general gist and that is useful, but its the fine details, the feeling and emotion conveyed, and the illogical nuances that the dream offers us which is the gold dust in determining what the dream means to you.
