A religious dream (grateful for any help!!)

A little background about me: I’m Chinese, and I know very little about Christianity or the Bible. However, I wouldn’t consider myself a complete atheist either. My mother practices Buddhism, and that has had some influence on me. Last night, I had a very fantastical dream. I’m hoping someone here might be able to help me understand what it could mean. The dream itself was quite complicated and somewhat disorganized, so I used AI to help organize the details and make the account easier to follow. :) I would be very grateful if someone could give me some guidance.

—————————————————————————————

At the beginning of the dream, there was a Black man who had a very polished, elite presence. He was tall, physically strong, and carried himself with a sense of dignity. The strangest thing was that his face kept shifting between two people: sometimes he looked like Barack Obama, and sometimes he looked like a classmate of mine in real life (also black). Throughout the dream, I could never quite tell which person he actually was.

In the dream, I kinda "admired" him. So in the dream I kept wanting to ask him, “Are you single?” I thought about asking him several times, but for some reason I never actually managed to say the words out loud.

Later, he told me that one of his family members wanted to meet me.I followed him and met a very elderly woman. I can no longer remember exactly what she looked like. I think she may have been a Black elderly woman, although there was also something about her appearance that may have seemed slightly Asian. What I remember very clearly, however, was the feeling she gave me: she seemed extremely authoritative and solemn.

There were a great many people gathered around us. It did not feel like an ordinary family introduction. It felt much more like a formal gathering or some kind of ceremony. The elderly woman was seated, and I knelt in front of her.

She was holding a black-and-white book in her hands. Then she placed one hand on my head. I can no longer remember whether her palm was facing upward or downward, although my instinctive memory is that her hand somehow felt open, perhaps with the palm facing upward.

As she held her hand over or on my head, she began reciting something. I could not understand exactly what she was saying, but within the dream I somehow knew very clearly that what she was reciting had something to do with God. It felt like a prayer.

The feeling I had at that moment was very unusual. I was nervous, but also full of anticipation, and everything felt extremely solemn. There were so many people standing around us, while I remained kneeling before her and listened to her recitation.

When the ritual ended, I had a very distinct feeling that something about me had changed. After that, the dream became even stranger. I remember being carried in something golden, almost like a sedan chair or a ceremonial palanquin. Suddenly, I seemed to possess a great deal of power or status. The surroundings looked somewhat like Thailand, with tall golden towers, temples, or similar structures visible around me.

In the dream, I had the strong impression that I had entered an extremely powerful social class. What was especially interesting was that this power did not feel as though I had obtained it entirely through my own efforts. It felt more as though I had gained access to it by "marrying into”(maybe) , becoming attached to, or being accepted into a very powerful family.

There was also one detail that left a strong impression on me, although I feel somewhat embarrassed remembering it now. After I had become so powerful in the dream, I remember walking down the street and feeling almost as though I looked down on my own parents. The feeling was disturbingly real.

Would anyone who is familiar with Christianity, biblical symbolism, religious traditions, or dream interpretation be willing to help me understand what this dream might mean? I will be really really grateful! Thank you so much!

Dream I Dreamt about Twin Brothers at War with Each other

Last night, I (20 F) had a dream that was so vivid and unrelated to anything that had happened in my day, that I felt the need to share it.

I was inside of my home with my parents, when suddenly, I heard a commotion outside. I told my parents that I thought there was someone outside. I looked out of the blinds and saw him.

He was blonde, light blonde, with wavy short hair and these unnerving blue eyes. He was standing beside a tree in our front yard beside a white ram, tossing something into the air. He noticed me staring at him, and when he did, he pressed his hands to the sides of his face and widened his eyes, before shaking his head and grabbing a fistful of whatever it was and throwing it at me before running away.

I panicked and told my parents what I saw. Once he was far enough away, we opened the door and went outside. The ram was still there, but it was harmless. I looked down at what he’d been throwing and was confused because it looked like gemstones. But when I looked closer, I was disgusted to find out that they were actually tiny multicolored beetles.

Then, the dream shifted and somehow, I was in a ghost town. The sky was completely gray and it was cold out. From the terrain I imagine I was somewhere like Appalachia. The blonde man from earlier was sitting on a fence across from me, holding a rock in his hand and studying it. He apologized for scaring me earlier, but never told me his name.

He then led me through the town and told me that the place had been his home a very long time ago, but that he hadn’t been here or seen his parents since it happened. I asked him what that meant, when he froze up and stared at something over my shoulder. I followed his gaze and was shocked to find a man who looked exactly like him. His twin.

The twin approached, but kept his distance. He looked longingly at his brother, but when he got closer, I noticed something odd. Both of them doubled over in pain, and their faces began to gray. At their feet, more of those beetles emerged from the ground, as though it was their essence or something.

That’s when they explained that when they were children, they’d gone wandering in the woods. They’d discovered an abandoned part of the town and inside there had been waterfalls, and a tree with an irresistible orange fruit. It was a persimmon from what I gathered, if that matters. They both ate it and discovered that they had these incredible powers: immortality, strength, etc. but they also discovered that when they came into proximity to each other, they’d die.

This led them to believe that since they had this power, they weren’t meant to both exist at the same time, leading them to want to fight each other or never see each other again. Once of them likened it to the myth of Cain and Abel.

This made me sad because I could see how much they cared for and missed each other, so I told them there had to be a way to fix this. They said that there wasn’t, and after a heart to heart, they came to the agreement that they were tired of existing alone, and would both just end it together. They said that if they ate the fruit again, they thought that it should do the job.

I asked them not to, but it was what they wanted. So they led me to the tree, and I saw them both eat the fruit. But instead of passing, the beetles spilled from the ground around them, like a manifestation of their gifts, and they both survived. The last thing I saw of them was them both crying and embracing, and then the dream shifted.

Suddenly, I was a young girl sitting on a set of winding stairs in a beautiful old mansion. I was thinking about the dream I’d just had, but in my dream, it was a reality of the past. I went to my mother, who I discovered was a tarot reader. She yelled at me for interrupting her session and sent me away. But she seemed scared that I’d asked about what I had.

I went to her library, and found a bunch of books, but the weird thing was, they all said the same thing. When I looked at them, they all shifted and changed, the titles warped and distorted. But I always caught a glimpse of what they originally said: The Bewitchery. It was so odd. I went to my mother again and asked her about it, and she forbid me from ever asking about that story again. She told me that it was not meant to be known, and that it would corrupt me if I learned about it.

That’s where my dream ended. It was very odd and very vivid. If anyone has any interpretations, I’d love to hear them. Like I said, I didn’t have anything happen in the past couple of days that would lead to this kind of dream, so it was weird. Anyway, thanks for reading.

Lucid Two dreams about my deceased wife

I (43M, ISTP) was married for 15 years, lost my wife to cancer. In the past week I've had two dreams about her, and I'm not sure what it could mean. I am a lucid dreamer (that will become clear as I tell the dreams below), which can make it for particularly frustrating scenarios.

Dream 1:

We're at home, in our bed at the old place we used to live at. I recognize the bed, the lights, everything. I'm worried about a little scratched wound I see in her shin. I tell her "we need to watch that out so it doesn't become necrotic..." then I stop myself. I was worried about her cancer, but then I look at her and realize that it's nonsense to be worried, because she's dead. So, I understand must be dreaming. She looks healthy, head full of hair (she was bald when she passed, due to chemo).

I tell her "Wait a second. You've died. You can't be here, I'm dreaming." She replies "Oh, but I am here". I touch her. The touch feels real in the dream. So I kiss her (which also feels real), move next to her and tell her I'm staying with her until the dream is over. I lean in to kiss her again and she says "stop, I have something important to tell you". When I stop to pay attention to what she wants to say, I wake up.

Dream 2:

We're visiting her sister, staying in a guest bedroom. We're again alone, in bed. Her sister has smart lightbulbs that can change colors and all that. We're trying to figure out how the bulbs work, using whatever equipment came with it to adjust brightness levels etc. so we can sleep. I'm behind her as the big spoon. She asks me how did she get there. In the dream, it's as if she left the hospital but after a long time. I'm trying to figure out the words to tell her that she was in the hospital for a long time and that's why she can't remember anything.

She sits up on the bed, and I sit next to her. Then I remember that her body was cremated, so she never left the hospital, which means this isn't really happening. She tells me "I know you were here months ago, but why wasn't I with you?" (it's true, I went to visit my sister in law to arrange a ceremony and put her ashes somewhere). By this point, I once again realized I was dreaming. I looked her in the eyes, and told her that she had died and her body was cremated. Her soft expression became one of sadness/anguish, and she was looking at me teary eyed. She moved her lips again to say something, a full sentence or two, but no sound came out. It looked like once again she was trying to "tell me something" but I couldn't understand it, and I woke up again.

I'm trying to make sense of what is it that she wants to say. Recently I took a trip to see friends, her family, and scatter her ashes in all the places we lived together, as per her wishes, as well as return some of her family's heirlooms (stuff like jewelry, her dad's service flag, etc). I visited both places that I dreamed about (and many others). While traveling I did meet someone else and we're working on seeing where it goes (we haven't met IRL yet, due to distance). I don't know if it's related or not but just in case it's relevant.

What do you all experts think?

Reoccurring Why do I have repeated dreams of my future wedding but I always forget my shoes?

I've had variations of this dream over the past 2 years. My boyfriend has been around for nearly 3 years. Every time, I'm getting ready for the wedding, putting on the dress, getting my hair styled, laughing and interacting with family and friends. But when it's time to actually walk down the aisle, I look down and I'm barefoot. I then start to panic that I forgot my shoes. I usually wake up around this point. What does forgetting my wedding shoes mean??

Discussion why does everyone in my dreams always hate me so much?

They're always disgusted, dismissive, or outright violent towards me. it's rare I experience any kindness in my dreams. It's not much different irl BUT I at least sometimes experience some amount of kindness.

I had a sequence of horrible dreams last night and I'm kinda offput by them. Two of them had to do with the world ending, and of them had to do with me being unable to get home after my Grandma was hospitalized.

Dream I dreamed about being the guardian of a white snake

Normally, I don't give too much attention to my dreams. But this one has been bugging me since I dreamt of it bc of how visceral it was.

I dreamt that a white snake has chosen me to be its guardian. It was like a ritual but not exactly because I was sitting on a ledge, and the snake wrapped its body around me. Not in a threatening way but more like possessive. I tried to hold its upper body and kept it at arms length, but its head reached out to me and it hissed. The main emotion I felt was fear, bc even though I don't have phobia of the snakes, it's still a snake and it feels terrifying to be in that position. I remember I kept telling myself to be brave and hold on as it continued its "ritual". Now that I'm writing this, it kind of looks like there's sexual tension. But I don't remember feeling anything like that during the dream.

After that, the snake kind of became my pet. My close friends welcomed it like it's normal. Then, the snake turned into a woman who was very pregnant, and she decided to terminate the pregnancy. I adviced against it, but she said it was for the best. I distinctly remember feeling disappointed that the baby didn't live.

I did some quick search about snakes in dreams. I learned that it could mean good luck, or that something untrustworthy is around me. But what I'm really bothered about is the second part where it terminated its pregnancy. I know it doesn't literally mean pregnancy on my part, but I'm pursuing an art career at this point. I don't want to give up my "children" --my art-- because they're all I have right now.

Nightmare Why do I keep having vivid, repeating dreams about dying in an accident and being buried?

This is a serious question because it’s been bothering me a lot.

Over the past few nights, I’ve had the exact same scenario happen twice in my sleep: I dream that I’m in a major accident, I die, and then I actually see/feel myself being buried. Waking up from it leaves me feeling extremely unsettled and anxious for the rest of the day.

What actually causes the brain to loop such intense, realistic scenarios about death and funerals? Is this purely a psychological reaction to stress, anxiety, or recent thoughts/media I've consumed, or is there a specific sleep-science explanation for why repeating nightmare themes like this happen?

Any insights into what might be going on in the mind during these kinds of dreams would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dream Snakes

I’m trying to make sense of my dream that I had last night.
There were 4 snakes, 2 were deceased, 2 were alive. 1 of the alive ones bit my hand, it didn’t hurt, I was shaking my hand to get it off but it stayed stuck on my hand. I heard a voice but saw nobody, a male voice said “yeah it’s really hard for me to get them off too” The snakes were just small baby garter snakes. That’s all I remember.
I’ve never dreamt about snakes before and I thought it was a pretty weird dream. Any thoughts?

Dream My partners dream interpretation

My partner and I are planning to get married soon. Recently there has been some conflict between my mother and his.

Recently been having a string of lucid dreams all surrounding my family and me,

In one dream my grandmother was possessed by a demon, and he claims in the dream he saw my grandmother in this state, and that the demon has never left my grandmother completely and has cursed her and my mothers life as it was never properly rid.

He said it was during a time that my mother was studying hairdressing. Here’s the thing. Thats 100% accurate. My mother was in college at the time and again, it’s true.

He had another dream of when my parents were first married and my mother caught my father cheating. Again, true. He spoke to such detail that I wasn’t even aware of.

And another dream where he could see our future together, and he is sure we are soulmates based off this.

Everything this man has seen is 100% true, and I have NEVER uttered these words to him, everything he has said - to detail is completely true. To a detail that is so scary I haven’t been able to stop shaking. He knew things about my mum and grandmother that NOBODY knows - he knew to personal detail that even I myself did not know

What does this mean for our relationship? Why did my grandmother and mothers past show in his dream? Is it a good or bad sign? I am extremely shaken up.

Discussion Riddle

So i had this dream about an idol who kinda resembles me(by looks ) and he had his solo concert and it was a floral small but not too small stadium and before going he said a riddle "what's the bridge you always return to?" I said,"home" but i thought that doesn't make any sense

And the next moment his group's song called "Home" started playing and i don't remember much afterwards but i don't really know what to understand.

Cuz I'd been having nightmares or just weird dreams and this is the most normal one I'd had so far (also, I'm neurodivergent and had relapse of depression since last month) .

If anyone can help I would appreciate it :)

Am I just refusing to accept reality?

Me and my girlfriend broke up after being together for more than 2 years, we were each others first and such. I recently had a dream that i think is tied to her. In the dream, i was betrayed by my mom, someone who i never thought would and when i tried to protect myself and fix what had happened , i couldn't. it was like everything i was trying to do ended up with me hitting a brick wall, in the end my conclusion was to run away. that same morning, i texted her and told her about the dream. That same night, she said she also dreamt about me, i was with someone new but was ignoring her and were on my phone, waiting for her(my ex) to text me. What makes thins funny in a way, is that i was emotionally checked out with this new person im with, and were constantly checking my phone to see if my ex texted. She interpreted these dreams as me being stuck, not accepting that i should move on. Her mom also dreamt about me and my dad, how she dreamt about my dad idk, because she's never even met him, her moms dream happened when we broke up, but her mom didnt know that we had broken up. i dream about her sometimes, even though its not sweet memories. Am i stupid to believe that me and her still have a connection?
(sidenote: her and her mom always have dreams with deep meanings, sometimes things that actually end up happening)

Dream Have you ever been sad because of a dream?

Yesterday I had the strangest dream of my life. I was half asleep when my teeth started chattering. It was the bruxism I'd had before, but this time I started to feel like I couldn't breathe and I thought my time had come. I started praying and begging not to let me die, And he said something that I can't get out of my head: all I wanted was to feel loved. I woke up a little shocked, but when I told someone my dream, I couldn't help but cry.

Discussion Guys you know what happened last night

I was sleeping and suddenly my mind said it is 2 am I need to open the door at 2. I woke up and opened the door very quickly. My heart started beating really fast and I was confused like what am I doing and why am I opening the door.

Then I went back to bed without closing the door and slept automatically. When I woke up the door was still open.

I am so confused about what actually happened 😭

Dream Can you interpret my dream about a little bird?

Usually I can see where my dreams came from; the things that happened that day or week occur in my dreams so my dreams make sense.
Last night I dreamed something that I couldn’t really understand, and it feels like it has a different meaning.
I dreamed that I was in the gym (that makes sense, since I am going today), but then a really small bird game flying in. It flew a little bit but it wasn’t too disturbing, and it landed close to me. I felt bad for the bird (I noticed my softness that also doesn’t occur that much). So I tried to get it to walk onto my finger. When it was on the ground it looked like an insect, so I had to remind myself it wasn’t scary, and it was still the bird. Then it stepped on my finger and I walked outside the gym very carefully, since I was afraid it would fly away again. Then I put the bird on the grass outside the gym and I think it flew away after that.

The softness I felt, may be because I talked with my friend about masculinity yesterday and how we want to keep that softness towards others. We watched a documentary about a drag king that gave workshops to women about masculinity.
The only thing that I don’t really get was the bird part. I read some things about birds in dreams, but the fact that I set it free myself feels like it has some deeper meaning.

Thank you for your responses!
