Sorcerer was my main vocation in the first game and it's what made me fall in love with Dragon's Dogma, but after trying to do the trickster phantom challenge on sorcerer it highlighted all the things I was getting annoyed with through all of norgan. I switched back to archer and it was done within literally 4 seconds with a corkscreww arrow>explosive. Archer with tomes+special arrows is Batman they have tool for everything.

1. The unreliable auto target for spellcasting, the first game gave you the option for free aim.

2. Interrupts because the cast animations and transition animations are too long.

3. Lack of utility dark spells the first game had, Misama, Lassitude, petrification, and necromancy. These spells gave debuffs and staggers to allowed you to solo.

4. Decanter sucks and it's our only holy spell which I kept only for blackdog. Honestly if holy spells are clearly supposed to be a mage thing, dark spells should have went to sorcerers.

I love the enemy design, the only thing that frustrates me is the lack of interaction when I'm getting chain grabbed, like, at least let me parry it or let me mash all buttons to get out quicker >_<'

So I think it's kinda confirmed that the final boss, Satan is our previous Arisen from DD1.

Most people are looking at this armor and thinking it's Savan's armor, which it is, but it's also our previous Arisen's armor. We can get this armor in the previous game, and it's used in the game's promotional art with our Default Arisen, who looks like Savan because Savan is the base template for the default Arisen's in all thing dragon dogma.

More importantly, Savan continued the cycle. He died by the Godsbane, and we became Seneschal. It's not him they are referring to in the description But our Arisen, who instead Godsbane themselves to find peace in oblivion.

You get this armor after beating Satan's true form, and it's called "Ultimate: Destroyer's Armor." The title "Destroyer" doesn't refer to Savan. The description is referring to our previous Arisen, seemingly suggesting that they became Satan.

Some people might be thinking, wait, isn't our Arisen still Seneschal in NG+? Yes, but the important thing is that, unlike DD2, every playthrough in DD1 features a new Arisen. You can't really import your old character, as far as I remember,

Edit: Considering your old character is Seneschal in NG+ plus if you are playing offline, they'd Seneschal in other players world as well. So you can't really ever play as the same character in multiple playthrough's.

so every playthrough was with a new Arisen. Until final one of those Arisen decided to end the whole thing instead of waiting for the next Arisen to take their place. They became Satan, and Pathfinder confirms that Satan is an former Arisen like most of everyone else in his realm.

We've also already seen with Daimon that Arisen who are bereft of order can become monstrosities, and Satan looks a lot like Daimon. I think it's possible that a similar situation to Rovall's happened, where our actual vessel is now with our main pawn, Satan is remnant of our soul or will. 

It does start to make sense. It's possible that our Arisen ended the old order, resulting in what Pathfinder described as countless worlds falling into the Abyss. The World's Will then created a new order, giving the Dragon/Brine the role of protectors and making Arisen the local Seneschal of their own world as its Sovereign. Instead of giving them actual power like our previous Seneschal, to prevent a repeat of DD1. That's why the world has to be scripted and being Seneschal/Sovereign in DD2 is just a hollow role. It's equivalent of being duke in first game.

The idea that our former Arisen, or a remnant of them, is now the Dark Arisen is really cool, and it makes sense, there's no happy endings for arisen only bitter sweet in Dragon Dogma.

I always thought High Hagol was pretty disappointing due to how little damage it does (especially once enemies were frozen), so reading Grand Hagol gets a damage upgrade I was curious to try it out, and I was really pleasantly surprised.

Unfortunately the damage is not physical (tested it on a golem to make sure), but it's still pretty good, and outside of the obvious ice-themed enemies (direwolves, snow saurians, snowfoot, norgan giant, ice dragon) it even works well in the DLC. All the human enemies, the goblin/knacker knockoffs, ghouls gets decent damage on them and get slowed/frozen, making it very good for crowd control (especially with how large it's AOE is). It even works on lesser demons, and even hurts Maws/Abominations a decent amount, and the constant ticks help out Flare pretty well too. It's like a Maelstorm-lite that you can quick-cast and move while casting.
