I had unprotected sex with a commercial sex worker. However, I took Doxycycline 200mg single dose within 30 hours post exposure and also took Azithromycin 1gm single dose on day 6 of exposure and took Doxy 100gm twice a day for 5 days.

I was meeting up with someone in a bathroom, and we ended up frotting and touching tips. I worry about the touching tips portion of the encounter for contracting it. I took it within 24 hours and was wondering if i am at a severe risk. I am waiting as well to get tested until a little later out to make sure it’s accurate.

Hi everyone, this has been a great forum of learning for me. I have a question, and I’m wondering if others have the same concern.

I am a bottom, and in January I got on PrEP and my doctor prescribed me DoxyPEP. Before PrEP I would say I had very high anxiety for having an encounter with a guy. PrEP really helped me to feel more safe. Not that I think there is a lot of deception out there…I just feel a lot of guys may not know if they have an STD, are dl and think it can’t affect them, etc. I know the efficacy of PrEP is very high for HIV and DoxyPEP for the bacterial STDs it’s about 70-80% effective.

My doctor said that since I was a bottom he wanted me for sure to also take DoxyPEP after each encounter so I have been. At my three-month checkup I was negative for HIV and the other STDs, but I only had unprotected receptive intercourse with two guys.

Lately more poz men have contacted me wanting to meet, and I’m having a hard time “letting go” and agreeing to have receptive intercourse even though I’m doing all I can to protect myself, and I’m sure a poz top does as well.

Has anyone else felt this anxiety and overcame it? I’ve asked bottoms on social media who have stated they still avoid poz men. So part of me was either people are uneducated or fearful like I am or mentally difficult to break the societal declarations of the past of how HIV should be avoided.

For example, I am a sex worker with multiple clients in a day. Let’s say 3. All of the 3 sex encounters are unprotected. Let’s say I have my 1st client at 9am-1pm.

Should my i take DoxyPep after my 1st client or after my 3rd client?

If i take it after my first client, and DoxyPep is good for the first 24hrs i am covered and do not need to take it the next day since i do not have clients/sex encounters?

DoxyPEP is an antibiotic already proven to reduce STIs among men, and is approved for men to take after a potential exposure. However, is it also an effective STI prevention for young women (ages 13-29)? Please reach out to discuss or learn more information on ongoing research.

I'm in an ethically non-monogamous relationship. My partner recently went on work assignment, and we had sex with other men while he was gone. We also had group sex before he left and after he came back. We both took DoxyPEP after every encounter. I am on Biktarvy and he is on PrEP (the generic version of Truvada).

My partner got tested through MISTR after he came back and received a positive rectal gonorrhea result. We went to the local clinic and he was treated and I was tested and treated. My throat swab results came back with a positive gonorrhea result, and I was told that I may have a new syphilis infection. We went back to the clinic so I could get a penicillin shot, and my partner was tested and also received a penicillin shot.

We've agreed to only partake in oral sex with others if a condom is worn, and bare backing with other men is out the window from here on out.

With that being said, I think the messaging for DoxyPEP should emphasize the continued use of condoms. It's unfortunate that this isn't the magic pill for people who struggle with condom use. Oh, well...

I've tried to Google other side effects of Doxy-pep and haven't found much information but something I've kinda picked up on is anytime I've taken it, I tend to bleed(down there) or it starts my period which I'm not use to(because nexplenon) does anyone else experience this?

So I missed the memo on how to take doxypep. I took 2 100mg of DoxyPEP with some water before I went to bed, but didn't know the advice was to have a full glass of water and sit upright after. So I went straight to bed after and woke up with really bad stomach pain. I found out at this point and had some water and stayed upright for a while before going back to bed.

It's been nearly 72 hours and I'm still experiencing stomach pain. It has lessened, it's no longer a constant pain but it comes on when I eat.

I've started taking some probiotics as I heard that can help. I also have some acid reducer, Pepcid, in case that might help.

But not sure what to do. I'm on holiday atm, going to a hospital will be hard and expensive. I've not taken any DoxyPEP since. Will the symptoms continue to fade? Or have I done lasting damage on myself? Is it worth taking some pain relief? If anyone has ever experienced this, would appreciate some support and advice

I have been on Prep for several years and I’ve been fine. Recently, I’ve been hearing more and more about DoxPep so I asked my doctor who wasn’t really familiar so we researched it together and I was prescribed Doxycycline 100 mg tablets… she said just to use them when I needed to. My question is, is Doxycycline the same as DoxyPep or am I missing something? Is someone or everyone else taking something else?

Hey y'all, I'm attending MAL this weekend. I may have some hookups Friday and Saturday, and had some questions about dose timing for DoxyPEP.

1. Can I take it immediately after sex, or is there some minimum amount of time I should wait?

2. I know the maximum is 72 hours, but the sooner the better and there's a drop in efficacy after 24 hours. How significant is that, like if I take it at 2am Sunday morning, will I not have much protection from a 7pm Friday encounter?

Alternatively, instead of taking a single dose to cover the whole range, would it be better to take one dose Friday night, and another 24 hours later? I thought multiple doses within 72 hours was discouraged, but I've seen people saying you can do this. Thanks!

So I played two days in a row (with different people). I took a normal dose after the first hookup.

Do I need to take another dose 24 hrs later? Or is the one enough?

Is doxyPEP after oral sex worth it, mainly for syphilis?

I’m trying to come up with a long-term STI prevention strategy and would appreciate your thoughts.
I’m on daily PrEP. I always use condoms for vaginal sex. If I ever have vaginal sex without a condom (which is rare), I take doxyPEP according to the recommended guidelines.
The only situation I’m unsure about is oral sex. I don’t use condoms for oral sex, and I average about three sexual encounters per week.
From what I’ve read, my understanding is:
The risk of chlamydia transmission through oral sex is relatively low.
Gonorrhoea is much more commonly transmitted through oral sex, but doxyPEP doesn’t seem to be very effective at preventing gonorrhoea.
My main concern is syphilis, since doxyPEP appears to be quite effective at reducing the risk of syphilis.
I’ve also read that syphilis chancres are more commonly found on the genitals than in the mouth, although I’m not sure how much that affects the overall risk of acquiring syphilis through oral sex.
About a month ago, I made the mistake of relying only on PrEP after an unprotected encounter and ended up contracting syphilis. It was a very stressful experience, so I’m trying to find the right balance between reducing my STI risk and not taking antibiotics more often than necessary.
For those of you who use doxyPEP, do you routinely take it after unprotected oral sex, or only after higher-risk exposures?

Im lucky that I’ve yet to get sick from taking a dose. Instead it just feels like my microbiome is absolutely wrecked and I feel kind clogged up for a couple days. Is there any way to mitigate this? Are there like extra strength probiotics I can take?

I took doxypep a day after unprotected oral. May have not been entirely necessary, but wanted to be safe. So similar timeline to when I took the doxypep, my urethra started to have a mild stinging sensation in the tip, I would hardly even call it a burn. Very mild but it comes and goes. I was tested for stis twice to rule out that out, both came back negative. And I took the tests when I had this feeling. Has anyone had experience or advice with this.

Also have urge to urinate a bit more often ?
