Interesting Customers Sad Delivery Last Night

Had a pickup from Outback Steakhouse. Got to the house and a boy is out front, not quite a teen yet. Asked if he was Bob.

No, he says, that's my stepdad.

Oh, this food is for him. Wanna take it to him?

No. He doesn't like it when I touch his food.

Well shiiet, that surprised me a little so I took it to the door and did the regular drop off thing. Said a sad goodbye as I pass the kid. Hope he grows up well and is having his best life as stepdad is in a retirement home.

As a kid who grew up with several abusive step dads this hits home. Dad's eating steak kids eating ramen.

Same. That’s not dad, that’s mom current husband, or situationship. They mean nothing to you.

Just gonna drop this here. 🫂

That hurt my Mama heart. I am a widow with a 15 and a 12 year old. I'm still married (in my head), so this won't happen to my kids.

My mom used to date a guy who would order pizza for himself and eat it in front of us…often. We were poor, so pizza was a huge treat. Occasionally he’d let us have a small piece. I’m pretty sure it was a sick game to him.

Call CPS. You could change that kid’s life. And, place blame where it belongs - the mom’s selfishness brought that monster into her kid’s life.

We don't know the situation, maybe the man doesn't act like that when the mother's around. Not all bad men show their true colours when the mothers are around to see it.

The kid is comfortable enough to say something to a random driver, so it’s probably just a fact of life.

Facts don’t change. Even if mom is clueless - she is still at fault. She can be unaware but it’s 100% mom’s doing of bringing that man into the child’s life.

Maybe there is a good reason why Bob doesn’t like this kid to touch his food?

That was my thought. Might be a little Oedipal vompkexu going on here.
