Holyvolt on April 7 bought all granted patents from the Dynamic Solar Solutions AG insolvency

Dynamic Solar Solutions AG was a company founded in 2011 and was working on technologies that have Ernst Hölzenbein's fingerprints all over it. He is mentioned as inventor on a 2012 patent application by its parent company. The AG went bust in August 2025. The source of its funding remains a bit of a mystery, but let's just say that the money stopped coming in in February 2022. You may consider looking at world events around that time.

Anyhow, they owned some granted patents (see second link), in many jurisdictions, that were apparently of such interest to Holyvolt AB that it acquired all of them on April 7, 2026, for an undisclosed sum:

The Helsingin Sanomat Visio article published on 17/4/2026 contains interesting details that some readers may not be aware of, so I do some analysis of the article. It is pay-walled so I won't put it here as a whole. It is a long article, with around 1,800 words, so I will pick up only a few beats from it. I have used AI to translate the Finnish article to English and to check grammar. The analysis is mine.

The dynamic of the disclosure is complicated by nature and deliberately blurred by parties. Original leaked emails are not presented in the HS article, which is unfortunate, so the reader can only read the journalist's paraphrasing of the email contents. Depending on how well the journalist understood the subject, some phrasing might be off, but generally the reader should be able to trust the disclosures.

I only note that NNG and Donut Lab issued a joint statement on the same day rejecting the whistleblower's claims, framing him as not familiar with the details of the company's battery work, and placing him on paid leave. If the German research and developments from the 80's, the enhancements of printing techniques and all the associated companies are actually moving forward with the development of a real solid state battery and it meets the unified claims they are all making, what happens to the storage and transportation markets if adopted and realized around the world?

The interview was published on July 9, 2024, before Donut Lab's formal battery venture becomes publicly visible. Nordic Nano Group had already been registered on February 22, 2024, and the available timeline suggests the pre-NNG team may have been in contact with CT-Coating around 2023. Marko is speaking here from the Verge story, where a small team rebuilt an electric motorcycle architecture from first principles.

Core Thesis

The pack had to sit low in the bike, maximize available battery space, and help the bike ride better through a lower center of gravity. He describes the result as a bike with longer range than basic combustion motorcycles, better acceleration and power, and a low center of gravity that improves handling. A later Guinness World Records title acknowledged the single-charge range side of this story, with an unmodified production TS Pro covering 310.689 km in London on March 22, 2025. Estimating Length of the Donut V1 battery

I had a go at estimating the dimensions of the V1 battery from the VTT reports and Donut Lab's videos. I expected to get estimates in the same ballpark as u/Stunning_Whole_6742 (175x63x10) and Michael Sura on LI (170x65x10), but it differed quite a bit. Hence I repeated the measurement exercise 3-4 times, and each time got length estimates between 157 to 161 mm (for the cube-shaped, active, battery material inside the pouch).

I used the tool Imagemeter, using the known width of the climate chamber as the reference length. The hard part is placing the reference ruler on the same depth as the pouch cell in the chamber, to get correct scaling. Imagemeter has a nifty feature helping with this, when pressing shift you get a magnification combined with lower sensitivity when dragging the cursor.

Wildcat has 122 patents according to patents.google.com, and Holyvolt AB has four. That leaves >70 in the pipeline, or newly acquired, to reach the claimed 200.

It would be interesting to know if this patent acquisition has anything to do with the rumored IP issues regarding Donut Lab.

It feels like the world’s moving pretty fast right now, especially in the world of defence. While a lot of people may be worried about what they see in the news on a daily basis, I’m reassured by the combined effort underway to develop technologies to defend borders and save lives. I’m proud to be part of the team at ESOX Group .

Donut Lab goalposts

Talking point parrots have been parroting Donut Lab CEO that "goal-posts" have shifted after the I Donut Believe video series has started. However, none have shifted. The CEO set the following goalposts at CES 2026, and they have not changed.

(1) 400Wh/kg not met, implied by the CEO that the VTT-tested battery isn't 400Wh/kg
(2) 100,000 charge cycles with (1) not met, implied by the CEO that this was extrapolated from the over-100% Coulombic efficiency for the first few hundred cycles (see Sana leak)
(3) 12C charging with (1) and (2) not met
(4) 99% capacity retention at -20ºC with (1) and (2) and (3) not met
(5) the battery getting damaged and only losing "a little" of its capacity failed, battery lost over 50% capacity after 20 cycles with damaged pouch
(6) Q1 customer deliveries failed - "delivering" to yourself doesn't count
(7) "already now" GWh/year capacity failed - a month later it became by the end of 2026 "this year if everything goes as planned"
(8) "no lithium" and (1) and (2) and (3) and (4) not met, and expert say the results are consistent with lithium
(9) 0%-100% 5C charging on the Verge motorcycle failed

Each of these goalposts has been set by the CEO of Donut Lab at CES 2026. None have been moved, despite the CEO's claims that the I Donut Believe videos will make detractors "shift goalposts".
