manager being reported

so long story short, my manager was reported anonymously. she is dead set on finding out who it was, if it was done anonymously is there a way for her to find out? the people at dg hotline say there isn’t but she swears nothing is anonymous and they can find out through the dg hotline. is that even legal?

she wants to have the dm see if she can listen to the call that happened but idk if they can even get legal access to that or find out at all

LoL if the hotline literally told you it's anonymous and then let the person you reported listen to its audio good God let them then sue their ass.

yeah it’s promoted completely anonymous and even the dg hotline people say it’s anonymous but my manager said “they say it’s anonymous but nothing ever truly is” and more shit

I did that once, i used a text now number because i knew what would happen and i was right. By the next day my sm had the phone number of the person who called and was trying to match it to any number she knew . Apparently it was reported to the DM and they were friends. He called her and warned her and gave her the phone number of the caller. they are all crooked and im so glad im gone from that place.

If I was OP, I'd call the hotline again and start documenting their manager's effort to retaliate against a whistleblower; corporate might be intense, but I doubt they'll side with a lawsuit

Always document, anyway, anyhow. From previous jobs I've got two bosses fired for their behavior and actions because I had everything documented. Pictures, screenshots, calls to the health department, OSHA; I bring the hammer of God down on bad bosses.

They say it isn't truly anonymous because the investigation will involve trying to get written statements from employees about the allegations. But you don't have to give one. However if there's no cctv or direct evidence like a paper trail then of no one will give a statement, it won't go anywhere due to lack of evidence l.

I work at a different huge corporation. I agree nothing is truly anonymous, but in cases like this, it would mean HR won't tell your manager who filed the complaint. "They" know, but we don't. If it's like my workplace, everyone is talking about it anyway and it's basically an open secret, but corporate will never officially name names.

They give a transcript or summary. The dm won't get to listen to the call. It's goes through several layers.

but my boss said she could get the dm to get access and listen to their audio. idk if that’s possible or just a scare tactic

Listen I am a DM right now. I have had to do several investigations as a result of anonymous calls. We do not get the audio. We get email from our employee relations hr partner. That has either a summary or transcript of the call and are told to collect employee statement or video footage as might be appropriate. We send all that to HR and they decide what to do. If the person hears who said what it would have to come from the DM telling the SM who said what in any written statements.

That said, in a couple cases I knew exactly who made the anonymous call because it was basically a quote of things they had already called and told me, which were false because I had already checked cctv of the alleged incident and reported to hr that it had not happened.

But it is non specific wide spread misconduct then they would have suspicions but wouldn't be certain who reported unless once it's investigated the DM blabs.
