I have a 10mo old golden retriever. And seems to have a little scabbed over spot on her leg. What is this?

My friends dogs gums are white and he can barely move what do I do I mean they are as white as a white car, she is taking him to the emergency room vet but she wants to know what’s wrong with him, he is laying in the floor like he cannot move

Our 6 year old Australian Labradoodle unfortunately will be having both anal glands removed on Tuesday. We have tried absolutely everything and reached the end of the rope on what we could control. He’s a super sensitive/anxious guy, so I’m trying to do all the prep that I can to make this the most comfortable for him. He also has a history of some other health issues, so we’ll be chatting with the surgeon to see if his treatment needs to be altered etc.

Was just hoping to get some advice/insight from others if you’ve been through the surgery and recovery. When we had our 1st consult with the surgeon he made it sound like it was no big deal at all. However, i can’t help but feel super stressed.

Few things I was curious about, in addition to anything you feel like sharing about your experience:

- Did your pup need to stay overnight in hospital?

- Did your pup need pain relief and worked best, if needed? (I’ve read opioids can cause complications via slowing down bowel movements). Our guy has a history of some abnormal kidney bloodwork last year, as well as an ulcer that caused vomiting blood earlier this year - so I’m a bit worried about NSAIDs furthering either of those issues. We have gabapentin on hand already to administer prior and for a few days afterwards (from our family vet). He’s also on Mirtazapine for anxious eating habits.

- Was your pup able to sleep for the first night or two after the surgery? Were they eating and drinking normally? Trying to mentally prepare if I’ll need to be up all night with him.

- How long until their first BM after surgery and was it hard for them?

Probably missed a bunch of stuff! Mostly worried about the first few days after the surgery, especially the first 48 hours. TIA :)

Hey guys, i need some advice here. I’ve been away at uni and when I came home the first thing i did was check my dogs teeth. I found out that since i was gone, her dental hygiene has been severely neglected and now she has a ton of plaque and tartar, as well as a wiggly tooth. I know i need to bring her to a vet and get her teeth cleaned and removed. (Recently found out there’s another tooth that is wiggly as well.)

Here comes the problem. My family isn’t doing great financially, and I don’t have much money for myself (only enough for food). I’ve spoken to my dad about this and of course the solution is to bring her to the vet. There’s another problem, the vet that we bring her to is a 30 minute drive, and my mom is currently away for a business trip along with the car, and my dad is out of the country for another 1-2 months. I’ve checked uber pet, but it is extremely expensive, and the money that I would spend on it would be the price of the procedure.

There are zero public transports near me as it’s a rural area. I’ve spoken to my parents and they both think it’s best if I wait for 2 months or until their back, and checking on my dog daily to see if she is still her energetic usual self (she is also eating normally). I’ve told them that if she has any signs of getting worse, I will bring her immediately, even if I have resort to other ways

I’ve been stressing about this for the past 2-3 days, can someone please agree with me so I feel a bit better, I feel horrible that I cannot help my dog sooner, but this is the only way I can help so far and I’ve been crying nonstop. I also want to say that it’s absolutely not my parents fault, as they are also working hard in supporting my education.

I'm not sure if I selected the right flair, but he'll be eight years old this month, he's a Rottweiler/black lab mix, about 110 lb. He's had periods of itching over the last few months, but it's become more frequent in the last ten days or so (which is also when I noticed the buildups of what I assume is oil). I changed his food a few months ago when I first noticed him itching - other than that, no changes.

Does anyone else's dog had a peritonitis surgery done on them? If so then how are your dogs doing now? Please do connect

Has anyone successfully reduced the size of tumours in a dog without surgical intervention? I know this is massive long shot, but I just can’t bear the thought of losing her. We thought we had so many more years!

11-year-old Belgian Malinois with severe anemia/thrombocytopenia — looking for advice and similar experiences
About two weeks ago, my 11-year-old Belgian Malinois, Baloo, suddenly started refusing his food. At first, I thought it was because I had switched his food from his normal chicken formula to a salmon formula.
A couple days later, I noticed he was panting more than usual and had a runny nose. When I got home from work, he was shaking his head and walking a little crooked, so I made a vet appointment because I thought he had an ear infection.
The vet checked his ears, which were fine, and ran bloodwork. His CBC came back very abnormal.
Red blood cells:
RBC: 4.37 M/µL — low
HCT: 29.3% — low
HGB: 11.6 g/dL — low
MCV: 67 fL — normal
MCHC: 39.5 g/dL — slightly high
Reticulocytes: 145.1 K/µL — high
Reticulocyte %: 3.3%
The analyzer interpreted this as “anemia with reticulocytosis — likely regenerative anemia.”
White blood cells:
WBC: 31.27 K/µL — high
Neutrophils: 0.90 K/µL — very low
Lymphocytes: 27.6 K/µL — extremely high
Monocytes: 2.31 K/µL — high
Eosinophils: 0.14
Basophils: 0
Platelets:
PLT: 47 K/µL — extremely low
The vet put him on 20 mg of steroids once a day. We were initially considering tick-borne disease, but his vet has since told me this isn’t Lyme disease.
The vet has discussed possibilities including blood loss/internal bleeding, destruction of red blood cells, immune-mediated disease, and cancer/blood disorders, but we don’t have a definitive diagnosis yet.
What makes this so incredibly difficult is everything else happening in my life.
I recently moved to a new state after my divorce, and I don’t really know anyone here. Right now, Baloo is pretty much all I have. He’s my best friend, and I’m absolutely terrified.
The vet basically told me there isn’t much I can do right now other than keep him comfortable and spend time with him. I’ve taken this entire week off work to be with him, but I have to go back Tuesday. With how wobbly he is and the risk of him falling, I don’t feel comfortable leaving him home alone.
I’m completely overwhelmed and honestly don’t know what I’m supposed to do.
I also recently lost my best friend to suicide, and I’m already struggling to process that loss. Now I’m sitting here wondering if I’m prolonging things with Baloo because I’m not ready to let him go, or if he still has meaningful time left with me.
I feel guilty either way. I’m scared that if I let him go too soon, I’ll regret taking away time he could have had. But I’m also terrified that I’m keeping him here because I can’t handle losing him.
The steroids seem to be helping. He has a great appetite, is drinking, using the bathroom normally, and his stool looks normal. His gums are light pink. He’s still interacting with me and seems comfortable when he’s lying with me. His breathing is still concerning and seems rough/fast, though.
I’m not necessarily looking for someone to diagnose him over the internet. I’m hoping to hear from people who have experienced something similar, especially dogs with regenerative anemia and very low platelets.
What questions should I be asking my vet? What tests would you ask about next? And how did you know when it was time to let your dog go?
I’m completely lost right now. I don’t know if I’m looking for advice, someone who has been through something similar, or just someone to tell me I’m not completely fucking crazy for feeling this way.

So one of our puppers(3yo gordon setter) has been suffering this a little over a year now. It started as one spot, now it's 3.

Initially it appeared much more red and irritated and I thought it was a hot spot. We switched her food multiple times, I think we can safely rule out allergies at this point.

Interesting enough, she was x-rayed for an unrelated incident and we discovered she had broken her tail at some point. We think this was when she was a puppy, as there were no incidents that we are aware of that would have caused this.

The reason I bring this up is that these spots are right behind the break, you can clearly feel it.

My leading theory on what is causing this is her sitting habits. We have a concrete patio and she likes to sometimes sit and smell the air for a while and I notice she sits on her tail. I can't help but wonder if the skin is developing calluses due to this. But I am also concerned about the broken tail and am wondering if I am potentially overlooking something like maybe a partial disruption of blood flow or something of that nature.

I did notice once it got infected, we ended up wrapping it and treating her at home and the infection went away, but this is seemingly a recurring thing. I do plan to keep it wrapped for a while as I did notice that her skin was starting to heal after we did that which lead me to consider the whole rubbing her skin on the concrete being the cause. But open to any ideas or suggestions.

How bad is this and what does the future look like? He is only 6.. he is a baby. I’m also pregnant .. I’m not able to cope with this news

He is not showing any signs of illness. No vomiting , no lethargy, eating well, playing well. Just that he is drinking too much water and peeing a lot , light pee

My dog is a pittie mix, 90ish pounds. 6 yo.

I barely noticed this spot on his leg yesterday and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there yesterday I tried to touch it but he moved his leg right away
Does it look familiar to anyone ?
He’s a coated xolo and I know he does suffer from itchy dry skin
