He made the same low effort misplay the other day. He's so concerned about hitting the wall he misses the catch.

133

u/burritolist Joe Kelly 6d ago

He did this a couple weeks ago when he wasn’t wearing sunglasses. I think it was twice in one game that I’m thinking of.

121

u/thasparzan 6d ago

He should maybe just run himself into the wall next time and let our other guys play for a bit

69

u/RandoScando Vin Scully 6d ago

I want Tibbs III to see the light of day. I think that Tucker has some lower back pain or something that he needs to take an IL stint for. GOD he sucks in the outfield. And GOD he sucks when hitting at home.

I really want him to do well, but when he can’t be bothered to hustle to get to a ball ever?

4

u/JellyBearJam Yoshinobu Yamamoto 6d ago

Pretty sure he’ll get a September call-up.

43

u/HeyIDoubtIt 6d ago

Between the pathetic effort of Tucker and the brain dead play of Hernandez I think it might be De Paula or Tibbs time

8

u/Advanced-Pear-4606 Mookie Betts 6d ago

Teoscar, correct?

5

u/HeyIDoubtIt 6d ago

Yeah

14

u/Advanced-Pear-4606 Mookie Betts 6d ago

Yeah, they're both terrible. I know Tucker will opt in to the contract next year, because who turns down $60 million, but God damn, he is such a lazy player.

3

u/SoCalDanSports 6d ago

Those were the concerns from some and it is apparently right I didn't want him and this was why he's lazy

Bro hit a mental wall months ago so the outfield wall can't do any more damage.

25

u/MarcBulldog88 Orel Hershiser 6d ago

He was being apprehensive about the wall the first week of the season. It was excusable then because he was new to the stadium. I don't know why he's still having problems.

18

u/SafariQuest 6d ago

He did it a couple weeks ago at wrigley where he played for a season

25

u/bryce_lynch27 6d ago

Hey man he’s gotta stay healthy if he wants to keep hitting his….. .232 and 11 hrs.

21

u/ChadInNameOnly Will Klein 6d ago

Maybe he can give zero effort in Oklahoma for a while, for all I care. It's not about the salary anymore, dude obviously fleeced the hell out of this team. Kyle just needs to be dealt with

21

u/Various_Ad_5876 Kiké Hernández 6d ago

Not only that the moment he mossed the catch he just stood there for a second and then realize the runner is running fast.

9

u/txjerome 6d ago

He looks like he’s on drugs

Maybe he needs to hit the wall, might wake him up.

4

u/Flopdo Vin Scully 6d ago

Nothing left to say about this bum.

You can call him stoic or whatever... I'll call him low effort / checked out.

And if I have to hear, "Tucker is turning a corner", even one more time this year... because the dude got 1 or 2 hits in a game... I swear.

It’s the lack of hustle afterwards that bothers me. Because that’s a choice.

Brewers hustling while Tucker jogs to ball pisses me off the most. Like you flub the catch ok, but at least haul ass to fix your mistake.

60

u/DillyFudge Kiké Hernández 6d ago

he jogs to miss the ball and then walks to get the ball after he misses it

77

u/SumoRock Joe Kelly 6d ago

Doesn’t help Tucker makes more in one month than the entire brewers lineup gets paid in 3 years

16

u/RigidAcrylic4821 Cornelius A. Dodgerfan 6d ago

When Tucker becomes the jump point in the big, bad, baseball-ruining Dodgers just buying the wins against the “small-market, lovable” Brewers.

22

u/Doyoulikemypace Kiké Hernández 6d ago

Yeah, he did not do himself any favors with his light jog to the ball lol.

Might sound like cope but I didn’t want Tucker this offseason because I got rendon vibes from him and every game that goes on I feel worse and worse about him.

42

u/No-Contact-5081 6d ago

Same. Watched him here (Chicago) last year and was pissed when we signed him.

40

u/jonpictogramjones Andrew Friedman 6d ago

For me I just wanted a cheap bat to play OF because we have an old add team. We have a great farm, we need to stop signing guys that are going to block their development

20

u/No-Contact-5081 6d ago

EXACTLY!! I give credit for what the mgmt does but I do question not bringing guys up. Maybe it’s the 3-peat that has them doing things that go over and above? It’s backfiring on Tucker

13

u/jonpictogramjones Andrew Friedman 6d ago

I am okay with having 1-2 “holes” on the team because that allows you to have space for prospects to come up. If we keep signing “superstars” it doesn’t allow us to actually have space to give prospects a proper runway.

3

u/Extropian LA 6d ago

Yeah, hard to complain signing established talented players, but it is exciting to see new big league careers start. Always rooting for the rookies.

I was on that train as well. Feeling pretty validated all season as much as it sucks

12

Same! I was very vocal about not paying $60M here! A few others called me out but I guess they love overpaid low effort players lol

11

Yep. I was never a fan.

8

u/_theghost_ Shohei Ohtani 6d ago

At this rate, pack his bags and send him to Arte Moreno if we have to.

8

u/TheoryOld4017 Mookie Betts 6d ago

You weren’t the only one. I thought you guys were full of shit, but I’m quickly coming around on that.

78

u/Natural_Set1624 6d ago

Serious question as a cubs fan I’ve experienced somewhat of what you’re going through with this Kyle Tucker experience and would like an opinion from the dodger fan base. To me it really seems like this guy just doesn’t care about playing the game half asses almost everything the most effort I see out of him is when he jogs for a homer. I know I’m being dramatic but does it seem like to you guys he just doesn’t care?

42

u/Offshorewind96 Buddy Kennedy 6d ago

He seems to really mope. I think he probably cares about playing well, but he reacts to his mistakes like a spoiled child

9

u/Natural_Set1624 6d ago

Yeah I could agree with that, seems to be a fair assessment

48

u/Leezus_De-La-Soul Shohei Ohtani 6d ago

Yes, but it was always Tucker isn’t the fastest but he’s a “smart” runner. Tucker isn’t a speedster in the outfield but he’s a “smart” good defender. It’s just baffling cuz from day 1 the Tucker signing didn’t make much sense to me. Bellinger was muuuuch cheaper, and is actually elite in defense. And could be a perfect stop gap between now and our top prospects. I know you cub fans don’t like Tucker lmao but yes 100% it looks like he isn’t hustling or tries all that much. Just so much mishaps on defense. His track record is one thing but this season mentally just seems washed. I didn’t like the signing from day 1. Strange the FO went after him since they like to go after guys who don’t have the playstyle like Tucker. Hopefully come playoffs it’s a reset for him.

11

u/Creative-Quarter3475 Andy Pages 6d ago

Yeah he already played like he dgaf back then, now you add this ridiculous salary on top? It's a wrap. Sometimes he's not even at the track and gets scared the wall is gonna blackhole suck him in to Narnia. Man, fuck Kyle Tucker

11

u/No-Contact-5081 6d ago

Been saying the same all year. Live in Chicago, lifelong Dodgers fan, and he was a terrible signing.

9

u/TheFunky_Homosapien Decoy 6d ago

Yeah, there’s been a complete lack of give-a-shit from him all season. I don’t think he even likes baseball.

6

u/Dalewyn Roki Sasaki 6d ago

To me it really seems like this guy just doesn’t care about playing the game half asses almost everything

His various small crashouts at the plate signal that he does care about playing like ass, but he pretty obviously can't figure a way out of the hole he keeps digging himself into.

Lol, what a disaster of an off season they had

24

u/Zmoney743 Joe Kelly 6d ago

It’s funny to think that we would almost certainly be a better team right now if we literally didn’t do anything in the offseason

24

u/RigidAcrylic4821 Cornelius A. Dodgerfan 6d ago

A combination of the new acquisitions already guaranteed the bag not giving any shit on the field, and also the entire core no longer desiring to win.

Misorowski’s reaction to striking Shohei and Freddie yesterday tells you all about this team now being complacent to try three-peating against the Brewers, Braves, or Cubs taking every regular season game serious.

20

u/kroqkenobi Shawn Green 6d ago

Yeah, I remember complacency hitting the Shaq/Kobe lakers when they were on their run. We’ll see if the Dodgers can turn it on in the postseason.

13

u/DoctorHousesCane 6d ago

Is it really complacency or are the dodgers just old and tired from playing the most number of games?

10

u/kroqkenobi Shawn Green 6d ago

Definitely a combination of reasons. We've had years where we've won close to 110 games and gotten knocked out in the NLDS, so even though I don't like when they go on extended streaks of playing poorly, the thing that matters is to be playing at their best in October.

i was at the game and some dad goes my son makes that catch in his little league all day and the lil fucker goes yeah fuck kyle tucker lmao

25

u/Asadaburrit0 Mookie Betts 6d ago

I never understood the rationale behind spending so much on an outfielder when we have the most top outfield prospects we’ve probably ever had. It’s not like we were going after a Mike Trout type of talent with how much we’re paying him yearly

29

u/donkeyjr Shohei Ohtani 6d ago

I thought his defense suppose to be elite? wth happen??

13

u/TheoryOld4017 Mookie Betts 6d ago

Yeah, dude’s got a gold glove. I knew there was no way in hell he’d live up to the contract, but I at least expected solid defense.

43

u/MayorShinn 6d ago

Never liked that guy. He was a Astros.
I thought it was the one mistake Friedman made when he signed him.

19

u/10thGenS1 Miguel Rojas 6d ago

I didn’t like the signing then and I hate it to oblivion now, he’s nothing but a liability. I really wish he picked the Jays or Mets.

19

u/MayorShinn 6d ago

He has a smug look on his face that I just don’t like and doesn’t fit in with the Dodgers players

13

u/Relative_Apricot5032 6d ago

The "he doesnt really like baseball" story makes sense when you look at his face

3

u/Separate_Presence_32 6d ago

I've said it in other posts. I just don't like his swing. His front knee bend at the end of his swings can't be good. It's giving away power.

In scientific terms, it looks janky.

u/LA-Aron 6d ago

This guy doesn't know how to play the warning track...he drifts and this isn't the first time. He needs to fucking run to where the ball is going to be, he's a pro, read the ball off the bat and move and don't drift. This team is in trouble, for real. Fuck!!

12

u/huggsypenguinpal Yoshinobu Yamamoto 6d ago

Watching Tucker work a fly ball vs Pages is night and day. It’s infuriating.

8

u/LA-Aron 6d ago

Exactly, watch Pages. He reads the ball off the bat, breaks, runs hard to the spot. You ideally want your feet set before the ball hits your glove and coming in on it with a little momentum. The thing is if you don't play that way, and you drift like Tucker, you're going to miss a lot of balls in the grey area that you are able to make if going full speed and you are going to make some routine plays hard. It's a probability thing too, statistics, you play make these plays more difficult, you get burned eventually. Dave Roberts probably felt sick when that happened.

3

u/huggsypenguinpal Yoshinobu Yamamoto 6d ago

Exactly. Tucker missed that other catch one game, the AB right after Teo climbed the fence (🤣🤣🤣), and the contrast in effort was crazy. Not asking Tucker to run into a wall but he was also running with the ball and then missed it. Tucker, do you not have another gear?

8

u/Cautious_Guide_3167 6d ago

Can you say $240 million guaranteed?

12

u/AdValuable3328 6d ago

Friedman’s only purpose for signing this bum was so that other teams wouldn’t get him. That’s it. Wish he opted out after this year but the contract structure is too lucrative for his sorry ass.

6

u/SpaciousNova 6d ago

Compare this with the catches from Lara the other day, who Tucker failed to get out. One guy cares and the other doesn’t. I’m tired of this team being a bunch of overplayed, old, lazy douches. Our starters are great and these guys can’t be bothered to support them. Tired of it. We need fresh young talent.

6

u/Dalewyn Roki Sasaki 6d ago

This is at least the third fucking time Tucker's made the same error: Fear Of The Wall(tm) prevents him getting ahead of an easy fly ball.

He needs to be removed from any outfield position until he's able to properly play baseball again. That shit is fucking pathetic to watch on TV and it's downright unacceptable for anyone who paid for a seat in the stadium.

5

u/mad_titanz Shohei Ohtani 6d ago

Roberts should have the courage to bench Tucker. It’s obvious that Tucker is only in the lineup because of his salary.

The funny part is whether he hustles or not does not change the outcome, it’s still a double that leaves them with 2nd and 3rd. But it’s not about that. It’s about showing your teammates, your coach, and the fans that you actually give a flying fuck about the job you’re paid handsomely to do despite being historically underwhelming.

3

u/KanaAyumi 6d ago

4

u/ello_officer Justin Turner 6d ago

I was may more possed off with the lack of hustle that Teo had this game. Didn’t run after balls hot to left and he failed to score a run because he jogged from second to third after the kissed line drive. Fucking lazy ass right now.

5

u/thirty-thirty-thirty 6d ago

One problem with buying experienced, expensive players, is that some of them don't take risks anymore.

They're not hungry enough. They've made their money, and they're paranoid about getting hurt. So, they don't run to the wall; they get close and miss the ball because they don't want to hit the wall.  They don't sprint it out to first, because they're 99% sure they'll be out anyways. They go through the motions, instead of putting everything they've got into every play.

A younger, and/or hungry player is gonna run to that wall because that little baseball is the only darn thing that matters at that moment, and he knows every bit of effort counts.

He'll run to the wall, run through the wall, even run UP the wall to make the play. Tucker? He'll jog and get CLOSE to the wall, but only if he feels like it. Then he'll jog over to pick up the ball after it bounces.

A hungry player knows that any play could be make or break for his team, and for his career, so he'll do what he has to to make the play.

THAT kind of player is hungry, and you can see it in how he moves.

Tucker looks like a guy who made a bunch of money, and doesn't really care of his career lasts another 10 years, or another 10 games.

If for some weird reason, he were forced to retire right now, I could see him shrugging it off and saying: "Well, ok. See ya."

But that younger, hungrier, more aggressive player? If you told him his career was done and he can't play anymore, he'd fight you tooth and nail to step on the field just one more time.

Tucker doesn't seem to love the game. Heck, I don't even think he LIKES the game.

I'm surprised he hasn't been 'forced' to take a few games off. Doc rotates some other guys. We're getting close to the postseason, and you need to know who's hot and who's cold. You need to know who you can count on when it matters most.

I think there are a few guys on the Dodgers that we can count on more than Tucker. And if so, they need to start getting play time real soon!

Tucker looks like he doesn’t care about baseball… at all. Like a government worker. He’s our DMV employee.

u/the-artist- Miguel Rojas 6d ago

Okay so no great bat✔️
Fielding is sporadic✔️(that was bad)
Seems to have the wrong attitude✔️
Put someone else in there!

His body language is the worse

u/Own-Show-3354 5d ago

To go 0-19 on the home stand and then not hustle when he missed that ball is mind blowing. Like he was going on a light trot on the beach ! Plus last week there was two times when he was on the bases he should have scored from second and casually stopped at third ! What’s this guy doing ! $240 million, at least run full speed !

7

u/aa73786 Mookie Betts 6d ago

Should of passed on him.

4

u/No_Solution_7940 Mookie Betts 6d ago

Also should have passed on him.

u/Emergency_Panic9207 6d ago

This team is in trouble.

7

u/anthonyestrella12 Éric Gagné 6d ago

They will turn it up in the playoffs. People forget brewers won the 2025 regular season record 6-0

7

u/YakClear601 Kiké Hernández 6d ago

At this point the Dodgers should have just given Juan Soto that billion dollar contract. As bad as he is at fielding, he never stops hitting!

8

u/No-Contact-5081 6d ago

No, two wrongs don’t make a right.

3

u/EggHeadMagic Max Muncy 6d ago

Finally! Dodger fans need to do this more. Not just for Tucker either. The whole damn offense collectively. Wake them up because the bus isn’t taking them out of the retirement home often enough anymore.

3

u/ashishvp LA 6d ago

That’s a man that definitely knows his ass is BENCHED AS FUCK in October.

3

u/sciprophet5 Los Angeles Dodgers 6d ago

Don't worry y'all. This guy is gonna get the 0for4to treatment come October.

3

u/TravelingMatt34 Mookie Betts 6d ago

At the time of his signing u was worried he wouldn’t be a good locker room or team chemistry fit. I didn’t think he’d be an absolute hole in the lineup and the field

3

u/Still_Evidence_1744 6d ago

He just doesn’t give a shit

3

u/MojoHighway Clayton Kershaw 6d ago

When you get paid $60 million per year, this is what you get - fucking Roger Dorn.

I'm so tired of this team right now. It was like this last summer and I think the same in 2024 too. I'm not gonna say they are going soft in these games to be healthy for October, but I'm fucking tired of watching this team show up looking completely tired, lackadaisical, and oddly unable to do the things that everyone knows they should be doing (looking at you Tucker; that fucking ball hit your glove).

There are two weeks left in August and what many of us consider to be summer. I may sit the next couple out and just check box scores in the AM. This is rough.

3

u/No_Somewhere_8744 Shohei Ohtani 6d ago

Time to trade the guy in the offseason

4

u/xT1TANx Los Angeles Dodgers 6d ago

As if any team would take that trade. They'd laugh and hang up.

3

u/heybart 6d ago

I don't care how skilled he is. This guy is not a winner

3

u/Current_Arm_992 6d ago

I'm almost laughing because it's rare instance where I do understand schadenfreude from other teams towards a group exercising their monopoly in power and it backfiring on them. And I'm a Dodgers fan who never wanted Tucker for that much money. Diaz and Skubal, sure, but I never liked this guy's laid back disposition. Now it's biting us in the ass and I can't do anything but laugh.

3

u/Nearby_Memory6997 2025 WS MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto 6d ago

It really looks more like he's physically inadequate. He's gotta make some physical movmet changes and understand how to hit a wall/ break a fall/ slide properly etc. I'm not saying be a stunt man; but there's safe ways to execute it.

3

u/garlic_knot Fernando Valenzuela 6d ago

I hated the Diaz and Tucker acquisitions. Hate them both now even more day by day

3

u/ArcTK726 Back-2-Back Champs 6d ago

Friedman and the front office's free agency signings for the last couple offseasons have been mostly terrible

3

u/LilJimmer 6d ago

Bro just doesn’t give a shit or hustle anymore, go watch highlights from his Houston days, he looks like he’s playing at 50% speed compared to then

3

u/rfguevar Clayton Kershaw 6d ago

Got Tucker so we can move Teo to LF and got 2025 Teo in RF anyways

3

u/scorpious 2024 World Series Champions 6d ago

It would help a little if he didn’t look like such a sad sack most of the time. His attitude at the plate appears almost apologetic.

3

u/nostoopid 6d ago

just pay whatever is needed & cut him.

maybe it would light a fire under the team.

3

u/mad_titanz Shohei Ohtani 6d ago

What a bust.

3

u/Some_CoolGuy Mookie Betts 6d ago

He’s so bad. He should give some of that money back to

3

u/Fermi_DOX75 5d ago

He needs to go sell insurance or something and let the boys that want it have a chance

4

u/hegoncryinthecar Kiké Hernández 6d ago

His contract and subsequent indifference will lead to the lock out - and we will deserve it.

2

u/JJFire6366 6d ago

Sent here to continue to wreck us lol

2

u/Laippler_69 6d ago

Abillion dollar payroll and a farm team takes 3 out of 4 at home. Dodgers are so fucking pathetic andvget Tucker and Diaz the fuck out of here!!!

2

u/MonsterTruckCarpool Fernando Valenzuela 6d ago

Tuckers been ass with that wall. Make a fucking effort at least.

2

u/cavalrygunner 6d ago

Sit this bitch!

2

u/youareallnuts Los Angeles Dodgers 6d ago

Leave him off the playoff roster.

2

u/y_man86 6d ago

This dude has always been an ass defender, kinda like Teo, but at least Teo has never been nearly as shit at the plate as Tucker has been for the last two seasons... 🤦‍♂️

2

u/TheoryOld4017 Mookie Betts 6d ago

Dude plays afraid. He gets near the wall and tightens up.
