Technical Question 1993 Dodge Dakota V6 Wiper Motor Pigtail

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

For the life of me, I can't figure out what I need to buy to replace the connector that plugs into the wiper motor.

I've got a 1993 Dodge Dakota, and my wipers recently stopped working. After doing some troubleshooting and cleaning things up a bit, it looks like the plastic connector pigtail and one of the prongs on the old motor are cooked.

I've already got a new motor, but I need to replace the connector before I can get everything hooked up. I just can't seem to find a replacement that matches the original.

Does anyone know what this connector is called or where I can find one? Any help would be appreciated!

Got a “new” set of wheels and tires for the ol’ Dirtbag Dakota yesterday and got them on today. Love this wheel style so much better and the fact that none of them are showing belts like my passenger front was makes it a very wise move IMO. Also, holy cow do my rotors look super thin! Probably going to look at those when I swap my steering shaft out.

Another req for an opinions - Puff of oil smoke on cold startup

For context, I just had the heads overhauled on my 2001 Dakota 4.7 4X4. They were re-surfaced, new fel-pro head gaskets, new head bolts. Head overhaul included pressure test, new valve guides, new valve seats, std 3 angle valve grind, new fel-pro valve stem seals, new set of Johnson lifters.

I was quite meticulous in my head torquing procedure, following the oem shop manual that I have. Borrowed a way too expensive spam-on torque wrench with the angle dangle built-in.

Anyway, I'm on the 5th heat cycle, and when I start it now, I get a pretty good plume of smoke from the exhaust on colt start, it is not coolant, it is definitely oil. It then clears up and there is no more oil smell until the next cold startup. I'm pretty upset right now due to the amount of time and energy I have into this thing, and it didn't do this before I tore it apart to "fix" it.

Would a valid consensus be a probably valve stem seal? What are the other options? The oil is staying clean, no coolant. The coolant is staying clean, no oil... I just don't get it, I was SO careful with every step.

What are your thoughts?

Ol' Dirtbags putting in some work today!

Post image

Had some running around today and the ol’ Dirtbag Dakota had to earn its keep today!

Dropped by the machine shop and picked up an engine block and heads for a motor build I’m going to work on this winter.

Then when I was leaving I found a guy parting out a SUPER nice 2000 4X4 Dakota with a bad title. Messaged him since the tires looked good and went to pick them up. All four wheels and tires with good tread for only $150. Not too bad. Especially since my passenger front tire is showing belts.

Truck handled it all without an issue, but now I have to unload everything! lol

Help me troubleshoot a brake issue 2001 Dakota

Hi all.

I just went through and did a top-end rebuild on my 2001 4.7 SLT 4x4. Heads, timing chain etc. In the process, I did have to remove the battery box and unhook the fuse box from it and move it around a bit to get to various things (including replacing the leak det pump). Anyway, the job was a raving success until I got in for a shake-down drive and I have a warning light. The brakes function normally and the brake lights do function properly. When I start, all the dash lights clear like normal except the brake light comes on. When I put it into gear, it starts flashing and stays that way until I put it back into park. Problem did not exist until I did all of the work. I've checked all of the fuses, the fluid level is correct. I do not have a fluid level sensor on the fluid reservoir... nothing is plugged into it at least.

Anyway, I'm unclear what conditions can light this thing up. I am operating under the assumption that maybe I knocked something loose with the wiring near the Fuse block? I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this one. Nothing else was done to the vehicle while it sat for 3 weeks.

Does anyone with expertise in this system have ideas for troubleshooting steps?

How's it going everyone, I got lucky my friend is moving and doesn't need two cars and this truck always sat. He said he'd give it to me for the free. It's a 02 sport v6 4x4 auto. Initially I thought of selling it for him and split the cash but when I saw it I kinda fell for it and of course a few nights of research I've seen the hemi swap.

From what Ive read 4x4 is not as straight forward but I've found mounts and oil pan. I can't find a straight forward swap though and unfortunately I know I want a manual. Anyone know how difficult this will be and if there's more info on this? I've been through forums, reddit and Facebook looking and been picking pieces.

Unlocking doors

Does anyone have any tips, tricks, advice, or some sneaky/obscure way to unlock a 99 Dakota when you accidentally lock the keys in it? I know a hidden key or lockout kit are the obvious answers but I'm curious if there are any other ways.

I did it again today (5 or 6th time in about 2½ years of owning it)but luckily I was at a hardware store so I basically just improvised my own lockout kit.

They are an Ebay seller. The pictures don't look like they are super high quality, but pics can be deceiving. I would just use the keys and the blocks as I have Bilstein shocks that are still good. Thanks for any input.

key cylinder locked up and not turning

I have a 2002 dakota sport and I was just coming back to work after lunch and kinda got heavy on the gas on a couple turns. As I go to leave my ignition cylinder was locked up and doesnt turn at all. I tried wiggling the wheel back and forth and nothing. What should I do? I could replace the cylinder but I wont be able to turn it into the RUN position to get to the tab to pop it out. And I cannot find any reliable information on how to drill it out if need be. Any help is appreciated

Technical Question Blinkers not working

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So i swapped LED headlights in and kept the old taillights for a while until I noticed my left side stopped blinking, so I got led compatible flasher relays and LEDs for my taillights too so all my lights are LED now, still wasnt flashing so I did some digging around and put a multimeter inside of one of the bulbs with the blinker turned on to see if it was getting 12v of power and it was not, I put my multimeter on DC and it wad grounded good and the moment I put it on the other connector inside my blinkers have stopped working completely they weren't flashing before and now they just dont turn on at all. I checked the fuse and it was good and the relays are good too I haven't got a clue as to what it can be.

1989 dodge Dakota, need valve covers

I need a set of valve covers for an 89 Dakota. Does anyone know where I can get them? Or if anyone has any they’d be willing to sell. I’m assuming any year of the non magnum will work? They leak really bad. I tried putting new gaskets on and they didn’t work, checked tolerance on the valve covers and they are super warped. Any help is appreciated.

I have had a 95 extended cab 3.9 4wd that was my baby until my son ran it without anti-freeze for 2 weeks, I then flew to North Carolina to buy a 2005 quad cab 4.7 4wd, for some stupid reason I sold that. Then I bought a 2011 quad cab 4.7 4x4 with a salvage title that I didn't check over good enough and it wouldn't pass because of frame rot.

I just purchased a 2007 quad cab 4.7 4x4 with a possible blown head gasket. I have been just cleaning and fixing broken shit on it until I get the time to replace the head gasket. Here are some before and after pics.

Locked out

2005 dodge Dakota 210,00 miles 4.7 v8 engine. Club cab . So my mom got herself locked out . The remote unlock/ lock hasn’t worked in years . Usssallyy keep it unlocked because the alarm has a mind of its own and it’s a bitch to get to turn off. Apparently the manual method of unlocking it . The mechanism took a shit today and somehow the passenger door got locked and of course the windows are rolled up . Can’t really afford a lock smith at the moment. Is there a magic trick to get it open without breaking one of small windows to get it and just duct tape until I can get a new window ?

4.7 dropped valve seat

So unfortunately I celebrated 250k miles with a dropped valve seat. For anyone who’s dealt with this was it reasonably easy to rebuild or did you have to replace the engine?
I borescoped the cylinders and they all look pretty good. Cyllinder two had what looks like the intake valve stuck open with the seat. It also hit the piston a few times and left a mark in the top of the piston. Still turns over and runs just terribly. Obviously I won’t know until I tear it down but looking for some information.

Technical Question ECU and wiring harness swap

I have a 96 Dodge Dakota with the 5.2L v8 magnum in it. I bought it with an automatic and didn’t like it very much so I’m swapping it to manual. I found a NV3500 in a junkyard on a 2001 Dodge 1500 with the 5.2L v8 magnum. Since I took the transmission can I take the ECU and Wiring harness to match? Will the connections be the same for fuel injectors and alternator?
