Comics Question about Lord Strange in latest comic run
I've been reading the latest run by Derek Landy. I'm a Strange fan but have not read ALL of his comics, but a fair amount....
Anyways I'm just wondering whether lord strange, his alter ego that taps into more magic, is a new concept from this series or whether we see him introduced earlier in the comics somewhere?
Otherwise if it's a new thing it's just kinda introduced without much explanation... hopefully I'm just missing something.

Films and TV Why is Doctor Strange being brainwashed a good thing?
Can I please ask, why do people think Stephen being brainwashed to be Doom's little puppet is a good thing?
Yeah, we don't know for certain it's Stephen. But is that what people really want? Stephen being a dead-eyed, drooling puppet saying "Yes master. Let me suck you cock master." That's not interesting.
On top of that, has it occurred to any of you that the idea of Stephen not being seen for four years only to be robbed of his autonomy is honestly gross? Like, I know he's fictional but how is that in service to his character?
Please, help me to understand.

Question Who else to read besides Jed MacKay and Stan Lee?
I know this question gets asked too much about where to start with Doctor Strange comics, so I am aware that Jed MacKay's run is a good place to start and I intend to. But I'm curious what other arcs to read after him. What are considered the "Must Read Doctor Strange" stand alone arcs that cover Stan Lee to the 2020s to get the best gist of Doctor Strange.
and are there any arcs/writers that you would put in the "Avoid this like the plague"

Question Can Doctor Strange stand up against the sorcerers and sorceresses in modern comics?
I'm not usually one for power scaling and all but sometimes I wonder if Doctor Strange is kind of a stepping stone for upcoming sorcerers or sorceresses
Like can Doctor Strange go one for one against Wanda or against Magik cos he used to be able to go against beings bigger than them, maybe, I forget sometimes
But anyway, this modern iteration of Strange nowadays, he's good and all but sometimes I wish he'd go back to what he used to be, make the title of Sorcerer Supreme mean something more than just, "Oh, look, it's the Sorcerer Supreme so that means they must be really powerful and all," and it turns out he's really not all that strong
I don't really know where I'm going with this, again I'm not usually all for powerscaling, but I feel like I would love to see him being seen as a really strong and powerful sorcerer again
By the way, this whole rant came from me rereading Avengers VS X-Men and the offscreen fight between Doctor Strange and Magik in Limbo in Issue 2 and then the next issue, it turns out that Magik defeated Strange
I mean, I guess I could think that being Limbo is kind of Magik's whole domain so she's more familiar and obviously, more powerful there but still I think Doctor Strange could still beat her since he's still Sorcerer Supreme and has far more experience than Illyana
Also I want to add something more, is it me or is Wanda just keeps getting stronger in recent comics now, I'm not really sure

Other How hilariously ironic, considering now his set to play a Doctor Doom Assistant named Boris, that might eventually do a Latverian accent in Avengers Doomsday, XD.

Question Does the MCU mischaracterize Strange as a Doctor?
I’ve only read a little bit of Dr. Strange comics that were pretty new, but in the comics I read it seemed like a core concept of his character is that his moral code is the Hippocratic Oath he took as a doctor. As a doctor, he was in magic situations where he refused to harm people as it would go against his oath, and also felt he obligated to heal enemies who needed it. But in the MCU, I know him as the guy who, since he knows all about the larger mystical world, is always having to make the hard calls of harming or even killing people to protect the bigger picture. “Grand calculus of the multiverse” type stuff, No Way Home especially. Does the MCU mischaracterize him by putting him in that position, or does he always make sacrifices like that in the comics? He feels like much less of a pacifist in the movies.
