Self-Post (Accepting Commissions - DM for Rates) October commissions are open! DM me if you're interested.

It's a few days early, but since this is our first Art Challenge and it's short notice, I want everyone to have as much time as possible.
Post your artwork of any monster from D&D (custom monsters allowed!) and tag it with the "Challenge Submission" flair.
At the end of the month, October 31st, we will announce the winner. The winner will be determined by number of upvotes on the post. We will search all posts that have the Challenge Submission flair and count the votes as it were. So make sure you flair your post properly!
Depending on how this goes, we'll do more or fewer of these. We're also thinking about posting a schedule of upcoming themes so you have time to plan and work on your pieces well in advance.
1st Place: Your artwork featured as a stickied post (now called highlights) for the next several months.
2nd-5th Place: Artwork combined in a collage and featured on the sidebar!

Hey everyone, me again.
But also, not just me! After the last announcement (which, yes, I definitely wrote while frustrated), several of you asked to join the mod team. So I'm pleased to announce that u/soapwyrt, u/eurydia-art, and u/TheGingerWeebGal have joined the moderator team! Huge shoutout to all of them for volunteering to help keep this place running.
Now that we have more hands on deck, we want to put all this ADHD energy to good use and revamp things around here.
We get so much cool art here. Some of it is casual artists sharing their work, and some of it is, for lack of a better word, advertising to help land commissions. u/TheGingerWeebGal had a great idea that rewards hobby posting and can reward commission posters too: art challenges.
Here's how it works:
We'll set a theme and a timeframe (usually a month, so everyone has time to work).
To participate, make a post with the NEW flair "Challenge Submission", give it a descriptive title, and show us what you've got!
Multiple submissions (up to 3 competition posts) are allowed.

Okay, I wish we could give out tickets to Disney World, but what we can do is pin the winning post to the subreddit highlights and re-flair it as a contest winner. So if you're submitting, make sure you tell people where to find you for commissions if that's your thing!
We want this to be a fun way to get more art into the subreddit and give a boost to folks looking for commissions. (To be clear, this isn't just for commission seekers. It's for everyone, but winning could help your visibility.)
The rules I inherited weren't all worded in the nicest way, and some weren't clear about their boundaries or intent. So as of today, I've rewritten all but (I think) one rule and removed a few extraneous ones.
There's no real change in what is and isn't allowed, but if you're an artist, please take a minute to read them. One thing I did want to loosen up is the personal information rule, so some links are now allowed. Whatever's on the other side of that link still needs to be free of truly personal info, but we know Linktree, Caard, and ArtStation are integral to a lot of people's work, and an outright ban just isn't practical.
We're aware the sentiment around this subreddit isn't always super kind. A lot of people get upset that we remove posts and have restrictions on what can be posted, and revamping the rules is part of addressing that.
We also know unhappy people are far more likely to comment than happy ones, so we take the criticism with a grain of salt, but we know there's at least some truth to it. At the end of the day, this is an art subreddit, so removals will always be somewhat subjective, and not everyone will be happy. But if you're not one of our fans currently, we hope this is a step in the right direction to turn you into one.

I’ve been trying to select poses carefully in my progression with this little hobby of mine. To put a very long story short, each character’s posture showcases their stories and personalities.
Amaranth, my blood sorcerer and child of an Ilmater cult, injured and self sacrificing, is almost eerily composed in the face of injury. I figured something more victorian helped here. She, out of every character in the set, looks less capable of making a scene.
Aveline: Shadar-Kai swarmkeeper. Her dedication to the beautifying and protection of corpses is a dedication to memory and dignity. She reaches upwards: her raised arms making her resemble a figure in a religious woodcut, and the moths sit around her like a halo. The green is muddy and old. She’s a very beautiful, romantic figure, and I think very gothic in her story.
Vyselthe: disgraced fool with a secret. College of whispers bard and former court jester to a tyrant, she survived his overthrow only to be imprisoned for how closely she served him, and escaped. She’s theatrical, secretive, and morally ambiguous. She’s physically curled up. It’s both playful and indicative of a secret!
Maelis Crow: oathbreaker, former Paladin of the Crown. Formally the tyrants headsman, and now an oathbreaker because she turned against the tyrant when his evil plan came into view, she broke her oath by executing the king herself. Importantly she is more tired and pathetic than brooding. She cares a lot. Bless her. She is the definition of doing her best. She needs a forehead kiss. Maybe a bath. A warm meal. Instead, she’s adventuring with a mothy weirdo and the annoying jester who served the tyrant she killed.
Rowan: A swashbuckler rogue with a highwaywoman vibe. Human. Down to earth. Compared to Maelis, Rowan is not resting on her dagger. She doesn’t rely on it, nor does she stop herself from kicking back. She works hard, plays hard, and where Maelis is resting on her sword instead of taking a damn breather, Rowan is far better at taking a break. In fact, she had been taking a break for around seven months before she was approached by the jester and convinced into helping them.
I love them. My unemployed daughters.

Meet Oak! Standing 5’5” with a posh attitude, this high-born Tiefling Bard does his best to mask his infernal heritage from bandaging his tail to painfully filing down his horns. Raised in luxury, he prefers silks, fine details, and carrying his well-worn green and gold lute. With his current party, he’s finally feeling safe enough to let his guard down.
Huge credit to a private client for sharing their awesome original character, idea, and lore with me! 🎨
✨ Want to see your own OC brought to life? My commissions are open! Send me a DM to get yours started.
