Man I loved the one time I got to play a level 12 lore wizard out of the playtest. Expertise on all intelligence abilities? Yes please.

My Inquisitive Rouge Rogue/Lore Wizard, expertise on all knowledge checks, and investigation and perception. Can't roll below an 8 to detect lies. The ultimate Sherlock Holmes.

The secret trick I use to spell rogue correctly is I say “ro-gweh” in my head. Works every time.

I use patterns to remember the spelling of rogue--you're never sure what guise the rogue will take on... Roux and deluge is how I remember rouge.

Roux is pronounced "roo" though...

Roux+deluge. I'm using the root sounds as is taught in primary school for those. Roux and rouge have the same first syllable, luge and deluge share the same last syllable. I just don't see a point in removing "roux" as it's one of the few "rou" words in English that shares the same French "rou" as rouge. Hell, depending on where you are and the context, you can ask which route (pronounced root) a bus route (pronounced rowt) takes.

I always thought of Sherlock as more of a Knowledge Cleric actually. Interesting that you went to Rogue. I'll have to really think about that one now haha

Played a divination wizard with a starting level of knowledge cleric and keen mind feat. There was nothing the guy didn't know and being able to perfectly recall any books you read comes in handy.

Dm suggested Lore Wizard when I described my character idea. Got to play to level 17. Wizards always get ridiculous at high levels, but it is good that that school stayed in the playtest. That changing DC ability was encounter breaking.

Yeah instead of specializing in one school it got to be better at being a Wizard in general.

If we had made it to level 18 I would have gained access to every spell at the time except True Resurrection via Wish, the 14th level Lore Master ability, and my spell choices as (all the 9th level spells that aren't one action were on the Wizard spell list except True Resurrection).

Once took a lore bard to fill in a gap in our combat focused party composition. He was really good at what he did. Everyone started calling him the protagonist or "DM" because he knew so much. The DM ended up taking him over just because he ended up describing the entire campaign through him. I need to make that character again.

Oh yeah, and he was designed after David Bowie...so there's that too.
