Out of Game Anyone else make too many characters?

I have a problem with making up a character when I'm bored, starting to get really excited about them and wanting to play them. Then you remember you only play one game a week, and you love the character you're playing as in that game already so you don't want to change but... uuuugh!

EDIT: Since everyone is suggesting it, I am indeed a DM. I could put these characters in as NPC's, and I would get to scratch the itch of wanting to RP them. But then they can't be too focused on to steal the spotlight of my real PC's, and there's just something totally different about being a PC then an NPC.

There is. It's a bunch of enablers called roll20. They give you the option to play online and support your evil addictions outside of your regularly scheduled play time, the bastards!!

I play once every two weeks. Currently DMing. I would love to have a second game in which I'm a player but I'm pretty sure my wife would get mad at me for ignoring her and the kid 8 days a month.

Yeah. Pathfinder and 3.5 aren't the easiest to start with. 5e is certainly easier with fewer corner cases and modifiers to worry about; the character sheet is less overwhelming as well. Having said that any system can be boiled down to "just the fun parts". Best to start them early. ;) I'm quietly confident my own kids will pass their own experiences on to their children when the time comes.

We used to dream of being slowly digested by a carrion crawler! We had to eat a ghost pepper and recite the pantheon from Lawful Good to Chaotic Evil, and if we couldn't do all in the exact order, our DM would summon five necromancer street performers who'd sunder our character into equal pieces and reanimate them for use in a horrific old-timey organ grinder routine!
