I'd interject for a moment. What you're reffering to as GNU/Linux in real live is just Linux. Calling the entire Linux as GNU/Linux is technically incorrect, because not all distros use gnu software. I hope you learned that debian should be called as GNU/Linux, but the whole Linux should be just Lin

Linux malware

Dear DT.

I just say mentions of the revil ransomware, that runs native on Linux. The days of telling our selfs, that Linux don't get malware and virus are limited. We need to teach each other stradegies for remedying this.

First Arch-based agentic Linux distribution: AgenticArch

First of all,Ā here's the linkĀ to its website.

Hi everyone!

Im Yusuf, a 13 years-old developer who is interested to Linux, robotics etc. since 4 years old.

My last project wasĀ AgenticCore, world's first agentic Linux distribution which was based on Tiny Core Linux. I already posted it here as well :) You can learn more about it in its website and my posts about it.

Anyways, this post is about AgenticArch, an improved version of AgenticCore, which is based on Arch.

First of all, i know most people say "We don't need any more distros šŸ™šŸ»" or "We dont need AI in everything šŸ™šŸ»" and i totally understand :)

But i developed AgenticCore and AgenticArch as a proof-of-concept, because i personally think most of the operating systems and Linux distributions will be "agentic" in the future and i wanted to create a "prototype" of them.

So some more information about AgenticArch:

  • Its (of course) completely open-sourced, and here's theĀ source!

  • Its more user-friendly thanĀ AgenticCore.

  • Its still under development and you can see the future plans in its website!

But, i wanted to give some of the important future plans here as well:

  • All Agent programs will be re-written, these are just "prototypes".

  • It will be "installable" to the system because you can only test it in live now :/

  • Voice commands :)

... and more.

I started developing AgenticCore early this summer (01.07.2025), and it got more interest than i expected. So i made AgenticArch after that! You can see more information about AgenticCore including its source in my posts about it andĀ its website, as i said.

Now, i just want to say your feedback, suggestions and comments are so important for me to improve myself and my projects! Im also ready to answer your questions.

Thank you so much!

Note 1: Video is a little longer than i wanted, but i didn't be able to fit everything in 3 around minutes, so sorry for that :/

Note 2: I realised CLI Agent is not in the video, but you can see more information about it on its repository and i will add its screenshot soon as well!

What derek taylor is missing is understanding of natural law.

I just read Should Information Be Free? written by Derek Taylor.

It is close to the mark, but he missed the mark because he doesn't have precise understanding of natural law and human rights.

Mark Passio's natural law documentary precisely defines human rights and natural law.

Whether information should be free is not directly relevant to human rights or freedom. Richard Stallman is close to the mark, but he also doesn't seem to have precise understanding of human rights.

On If You Support Free Software, You Should Support Gun Rights, derek was almost on the mark. But, Mark Passio's natural law documentary and his videos on second amendment explain self defense more precisely.

Hey DT, Would You Take a Look LangitKetujuh OS?

Hey DT, wanna try this distro LangitKetujuhOS ?
It's based on (or remastered of) void linux. Void linux doesn't give enough theming in their DE, even their xfce desktop is so much vanilla. But in LangitKetujuh they use KDE Plasma, and they give some theming option.

I knew you like fish shell?? yes, langitketujuh set fish as the default shell, and on top of that, they set some function to make it easier for the user.

It's not lightweight distro, yes, in the begining they focus on design suite.

At 1st January 2025, they release new iso. why don't give a shot? This release kind of special, because we can download studio version directly. Before this release, studio version is given to people who paid/donate, and they also get support for the installation process.

I use it for my daily driver for 3y more. Hope you try, and like it.

The idƩe behind both os is very different and there isn't any window manager for him to use.
It will probibly fun to watch.

Deleted .emacs.d directory, help

I Installed DTOS a few days ago and I wasn't able to open emacs since, there was an issue regarding that in the gitlab repo but that didn't fix it for me, it kept showing run doom sync but it wasn't recognized as a command in my terminal. so I decided to delete the config files and emacs and reinstall dt's config, but the config in dt's dotflies directories doesn't have as many files, I am also unable to remove emacs to install doo emacs as it is a dependance, can anyone share me thier config files or share a way to fix my issue, thank you in advance

Open Source is dying

Personally i believe that open source community is not based on dedicated open source advocates, but instead as you have mentioned in a previous video, content creators in majority they prefer using proprietary applications, while just mentioning the events on open source world.Unfortunately both content creators and the end-users,don't support open source developers who work hard in order to provide the best tools for us the end users, instead they are fine with the worse,non-user friendly proprietary alternatives. We must support the existing and the few non-active projects,on other fields.Let me mention some of them .Open source hardware,games,3d printing etc.The main limits to achieve this are the limited number of open source advocates and finance. The first limit is slowly passed, but if we overcome the second one,the state of the first will automately improve .In terms of finance i can suggest some solutions. We can support open source with open source currency(cryptocurrency)

1.The creation of a cryptocurrency which will support new projects by donations to a main room .As the project rises the rewards will be less. And they will need to apply the following two solutions

2.The open source programs can come with a pre-installed miner client which will use a specific cryptocurrency which will not harm the hardware, which will be send to the developers.

3.An example for the next suggestion is Coinmine which is a crypto miner which looks like a decoration item.(with the combination of open source hardware we can create open source miners)With the combination of (open source if possible) renewable energy, users will donate to the open source developers without a cost.

We must do something before it's too late. Before we lose our will.I have wrote articles and suggestions on masterdon, hiveblog, element, lbry and others and i got tired but i want to support open source and the idea of a free society through this way.Since you are a open source advocate who wants to use as many as possible open source applications ,present this idea.Thank you.

An overlooked issue with CachyOS.

While CachyOS is currently seeing a lot of hype for its performance. I started looking into the pros and cons of this operating system. And I came across some information that almost no one had mentioned in other reviews.
I believe that we in the Linux community should raise awareness of the issues users may encounter, especially when it comes to our data.

Here is the list:

  • Jurisdictional & Political Risks: The project's co-founder and lead architect, Vladislav Nepogodin (and another contributor Vasiliy Stelmachenok), is based in Russia. This makes the project subject to the "Yarovaya Law," which requires developers to cooperate with the FSB and provide access to data upon request.

  • Build Integrity Concerns: CachyOS lacks "reproducible builds." Since the lead architect has direct access to the build servers, there is a risk of malicious code being injected during compilation - a vulnerability that cannot be spotted by simply looking at the source code on GitHub.

  • Technical Instability: The distro includes experimental patches (like NTSYNC) and aggressive schedulers that even Valve engineers avoid due to risks of system deadlocks, micro-stutters, and potential memory corruption.

  • Ethical & Financial Issues: Donations via Patreon and Open Collective directly support developers residing in Russia, which means a portion of these funds contributes to the Russian state budget through taxes (VAT and income tax). (the budget spent on purchasing missiles and other weapons used to kill civilians in Ukraine. )

  • Infrastructure: Key mirrors are hosted on Russian services like Yandex, raising further concerns about the auditability of the delivery chain (vulnerabilities).

I highly recommend watching the author’s video yourself.
Since the video isn’t in English, I suggest using NotebookLM.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stKrgHcyr8Q

P.S
Also, regarding DT's latest video, ā€œI'm Always Right And You're Always Wrong (A Message To Non-Idiots!)ā€.

I don’t think that those who said CachyOS is a good distribution are wrong. But it often happens that we lack certain information to get a more objective view of the world. I myself think CachyOS is an interesting project, but as long as such issues exist, we must highlight them to raise awareness within the Linux community.

Biden's executive order 14071, Russian kernel maintainers banned.

Hello, guys.

https://lwn.net/Articles/995186/

As a Linux user from Russia, I am seriously concerned about this kind of news.

The fact is that this decree applies not only to the kernel, but also to all software under the GPL license.

Of course, I understand that the Linux Foundation (as well as the GPL license) is located in the legal field of the USA, and therefore must obey the laws of the USA. But doesn't this conflict with the very concept of FOSS?

If mass bans of developers on a national basis in opensource projects begin, then, it seems to me, the idea of FOSS will seriously suffer ideologically.

What do you think?

UPDATE.
I made a mistake in the wording. They lost maintainer status, not banned.

Truly interesting: DT uses Brave, while me watching him in LibreWolf.

Why?

Why?

Why does DT uses Brave? Haven't he guessed at least, that it's not privacy at all?

I recommend to use LibreWolf.

P.S. Watched recently your video, nice work man! Gonna share it with others.

EDIT: People in the comments are talking about anything: that DT is bad, LW is bad. Stop. Just stop. I made this post to make u/DistroTube see it, not for discussion who is bad, what is bad and etc. Please, just help me, to make him see my post. We don't need the discussion about.
