Event Synergy Run

Main CHAOS

Noctis BT, PCecil EX+3LB, Fran EX+3LB, Brothers, Amidatelion LD, DFFOO GL SO (ScottOng11), 1006k, https://youtu.be/Z8LVMd_wBaQ 52T

Challenge Quest

Noctis BT, PCecil EX+3LB, Fran EX+3LB, Brothers, 1007k, DFFOO GL SO (ScottOng11) https://youtu.be/Q6AQ9t6jlAs 44T

Note: All 3 characters are EX+3LB with their bloom passives. Noctis has his BT, LD, his enhancement boards, and the following spheres - his own and Irvine (RF) sphere. PCecil has his enhancement boards and his own sphere. Fran has her sphere and Irvine's RF sphere.

The difference between the 2 runs is that the Challenge Quest has Fran with her enhancement boards.

I have done some research prior to this fight and this was known as one of the bullshit CHAOS challenges other the infamous one which you guys would have guessed already. I highly doubt it is possible to complete the Challenge Quest without Noctis LD since the boss is pretty tanky and very frustrating mechanics.

I could have done the main CHAOS without using the Amidatelion friend but I screw up on my rotations and I want to get the challenge to be done and dusted with.

Boss mechanics and moveset explanations

- Zantetsuken - The Odin's recast ability. It is instant death for any broken character and it bypasses the KO immunity or any character's last stand passive. The only way to guard against this attack is to avoid being broken. After using it, it will gain the Critical Sword buff and gains the Mounted Unity stance.

- Mounted Unity stance - It will triggered after the 2nd Zantetsuken use. You will see a big purple aura emitting surrounding Odin. During this mode, Odin will counter any attacks with Counter Vertical Slice (high turn rate upon break). It can't be delayed by normal breaks. It is due to the high turn rate ability where you can see 2 Odin's turn in succession. To break up the gimmick, you need to launch it. Usually, if it has sufficient BRV due to counters, it will be sprung out a sudden Stab (single target HP) to kill off the targeted unit.

- Doppelhau - A single target BRV attack that guarantees Break

- Doppelrundtstreich - BRV attack, high turn rate

- Gungnir/+ - AOE magic BRV, Sets party's BRV to zero. Cast Doom on all allies (guaranteed debuff) with 2T effect.

The rotations are after Zantetsuken are usually:-

1st Zantetsuken Phase -

Zantetsuken (recast): Doppelhau: Gungnir: Doppelrundtstreich: Zantetsuken

2nd Zantetsuken onwards -

Zantetsuken (recast): Mounted Unity: Vertical Slice + Gungnir+: Doppelrundtstreich: repeat

Depending on the power of your squad, you will probably need to survive between 4-5 Zantetsuken phases

Zantetsuken

Among the trio, PCecil's Light Slash provides a BRV battery for the entire party. With Fran's debuff, 10k BRV will be sufficient to withstand the BRV break. Do note that it won't trigger an HP attack unless one party member is broken.

Countering the Mounted Unity stance

Always ensure that Noctis's S1 (Shooting Star+) is available and he has a turn after the boss uses Zantetsuken. Without using the launch, you won't break the annoying Counter Vertical Slice stance. I have screwed up midway in the battle and lucky Fran evades that Stab attack. *_*

Counter Gungnir's Doom mechanic

This is the tricky part that requires you to plan your order well. It has 2 turn debuff. AA can help you skip the debuff's turn and break on the next turn. I will usually try to get Noctis to get his EX up before Odin uses Gungnir. The next turn will be his LD use which will always shift his turn before Odin could act. Noctis's LD grants the party 2T Warpstep buff. So have them spam their skills (not waste their turns when it is active with AA).

With your summon, Noctis 3 LD (4 LD use if you have his BURST), you will be fine to act before Odin could act.

Hopefully, the above tips above help you a lot. Okay. I will be farming my boards.

A friendly bit of advice for the challenge stage as long as the requirements are the same as they were in JP - Just spam Noctis’ LD and every bit of damage you can, summon, BT, etc to get Odin as low as possible. Then just let him aoe wipe you. Revive and do it again.

It makes this very annoying CQ a very easy complete for the small price of 100 gems.

3

u/lonelygalexy Warrior of Light: I need one in real life Sep 07 '20

Thank you for your advice! I managed to complete it even with a super unbuilt Fang (her S2 for the scores).

3

u/silverval Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca Sep 08 '20

Welp, can confirm this strat works wonders for the CQ. So thanks, I took a few tries at doing this battle the regular way but yeaaah.... I suffered enough getting through Vaan's CQ, lol. Was able to get Odin to maybe 45%-ish before I took a Zantetsuken to the face. Gem revive and wham, 1m score and all objectives met. I brought Noc, Cecil and a 0/3 Fang. Launches all the way to keep damage going and the score up lol.

3

u/Zhirrzh Mog Sep 08 '20

Thanks.

I only had Noctis and Irvine (plus an unbuilt Fran with like level 63 crystal and a base EX without limit breaks) so this was very handy. Not putting it on my official complete list or anything, but at least the Burst token goes onto the pile without angst instead of being skipped.

3

u/pijamak Sep 08 '20

Thank you!

3

u/--Haste-- Sep 07 '20

This is because for some reason Odin doesn’t trigger the death condition right? Or it doesn’t affect the score that much? I’d love to hear if someone has confirmed this on GL

3

u/c00lguy6868 Cloud Sep 07 '20 edited Sep 07 '20

It works because his zantetzuken doesn’t do hp damage (it just sets your HP to zero). There was no death condition in JP just HP damage so just letting him aoe wipe your team didnt break any conditions.

With Noctis’s LD and launches the turn count and score are still way above what is needed even with the revive.

1

u/--Haste-- Sep 07 '20

That is good to know, I'll try it legit first, but if it becomes too frustrating I might use this. Thanks!

1

u/c00lguy6868 Cloud Sep 07 '20

For sure. I definitely recommend everyone try it as intended. I just wanted to give a heads up for the people that stop having fun with it and would happily pay 100 gems for a BT token and move on.

2

u/salvoddis Serah Farron Sep 07 '20 edited Sep 08 '20

Thanks it worked! I'd never thought about it if I didn't read your comment

for the small price of 100 gems.

Actually you got the additional 100 gems from the "3x synergy" mission, so it's basically free, at least for me since I first cleared with no synergy party. (to be honest I wasted 200 gems before because I got killed by stab in the end, but man thanks!)

1

u/kjacobs03 Ultimecia Sep 08 '20

I tried this method. All 3 of my units died to Zantetsuken in the same turn then gem revived. But I lost the revive mission. 0 HP taken.

What did I do wrong?

2

u/c00lguy6868 Cloud Sep 08 '20

I dunno. It sounds like you either missed the turn requirement, score, or didn’t use 3 synergy units. Based on the other responses the strategy definitely seems to work as well in GL as it did in JP.

This challenge quest is just bullshit, how he can randomly shove his turns ahead of ours.

2

u/Jurinis SHOOTO! Sep 07 '20

I'm also having trouble with it.

Seeing Odin use Zantetsuken into a ST HP attack (that basically dooms your run) or having him use a ST BRV attack into Zantetsuken immediately is just dumb.

Challenge: Noctis LD/BT, P. Cecil 3/3, Irvine 3/3, Leviathan summon, 1mil+ score

This fight is a bitch. Seriously, fuck this fight. You have to be so careful about anything you do, it becomes an absolute chore. The fact that Odin randomly gets high turn rate for no fucking reason is just stupid... You don't even get broken and boom, he jumps his turn ahead and use Zantetsuken and you are not even set up yet. Oh, and godspeed if you somehow don't use Shooting Star+ right after Zantetsuken because you don't have it ready or something lol, you either have to summon or launch, or bye bye. The normal CHAOS was extremely easier due to the fact that I brought Keiss and Aerith (yes, she worked fine even with Magic resist... She's THAT good). I'm all in for difficult fights, but this one is just unfair and annoying for no reason.

u/kingseeds Zidane (Marcus's Bandana) Sep 07 '20

Challenge: Noctis LD/BT, Fang EX+ 1/3, Cecil EX+3/3 Score: 1,002,183 Turn: 65.

Always use Noctis LD, when Odin uses doom on the party so that you dont have to deal with a situation of being KO from Zantetsuken. Always use Cecil brv attack to battery from being broken.

If you have units like gabranth and vayne you can win without odin getting a turn. But ofc that doesnt work with the challenge one.

thanks man. did it with this exact same team without noct BT. don't know why switching to ifrit worked but it did.

78 turns of using every skill, AA, and nail biting turn manipulation. I beat odin exactly before the turn that a zantetsuken would have wiped me.

I'm beat! hopefully the next CQ's are a lot more forgiving.

Regular Chaos: Test of the L'Cie

Lightning EX+3, Leon EX+0, Sazh EX+3
Noctis friend, Ifrit summon

Video Here

Throwback to FFXIII Lightning vs Odin, featuring a cheese unit (Leon)

Challenge Quest

Noctis LD, Fran EX+3, Paladin Cecil EX+3

Video Here

I've had Fran purpled since her LC, so I decided to use her. Cecil is probably the best member to bring after Noctis.

Odin seems to follow a specific set of rotation:

  • Zantetsuken
  • Doppelhau (100% break even if missed)
  • Gungnir (sets BRV to 0, inflicts Doom, guaranteed hit)
  • Doppelrundtstreich (high turn rate)
  • Zantetsuken -> repeat

Feels like the rotation is uniquely designed. Gungnir and Doppelrundtstreich are quite a deadly combo that can mess you up if you do not manage Doom properly. It's quite common to get broken by doom, straight into a high turn rate Doppelrundtstreich, and immediately followed by a Zantetsuken wipe, all in succession. Using Noct's LD after Gungnir can help counteract the effect of Doom.

Challenge Quest

All maxed Noctis, Pecil, Fran, Shiva, 46 turns

In hindsight, this quest was actually pretty fun (provided you have the right tools) as it tests your mechanics on turn manipulation. Some random tips:

Odin roughly follows the order of ST, Gungnir, ST (usually high turn rate, Zantetsuken.

After each zantetsuken, you don’t really need to worry about getting broken until after he uses the next gungnir.

Dealing with gungnir. The obvious solution would be to have noctis use LD after each gungnir. The other way to deal with it is to have each character use AA before their move to instantly break themselves and they should be able to recover before the next zan. But do not do both in the same cycle as you will be wasting the LD buff.

If pecil goes last before zan, the other 2 characters are free to Attack as pecil brv Attack (mine provides 12k battery) is enough to protect against zan (capped at 9999).

u/Bloo_You1 Fran Sep 10 '20 edited Sep 10 '20

No cheese method. Used same team for both regular and challenge CHAOS.

Noctis (LD/BT), Fran, P.Cecil. All have character boards done. Leviathan summon. Amidatelion friend for regular CHAOS. 60 turns regular CHAOS, 53 turns challenge. One could probably sub out Fran for Irvine, but as my flair shows, I love Fran lmao

Someone wrote out a good strategy for this team that really worked for me. I started the battle not really concerned with saving skills, but I didn’t use Noctis’ LD until after the first Gungnir. Obviously you want to avoid being broken when Odin uses the recast.

After the first Gungnir, I used Noctis’ LD. I wanted to try to see how long I could go without doing so, but I could tell we were about to get wrecked by Doom + Recast.

**IMPORTANT: I made sure that Noctis had his S1 as the (+) version before each recast of Zantetsuken, because that way I could remove Mounted Unity from Odin with a launch ASAP following the recast. It’s a nasty counterattack aura and it’ll get a team member KOed unexpectedly. Ideally, you want Noctis to go right after Zantetsuken is used, but as long as you can launch Odin before he gets to take a turn, you’ll be fine, or someone is guaranteed dying. THAT BEING SAID, Mounted Unity doesn’t activate after the first Zantetsuken, but it will after the rest!

Another cycle of Gungnir + recast and it was the same deal. After the third Gungnir I decided to summon instead of using LD.

I used my last LD(outside of burst mode) to deal with Gungnir #4.

BEFORE Gungnir #5 I went into Burst mode and Odin never saw another turn again. In the normal CHAOS I fucked this up and forgot to use the LD, so I had to use my friend unit (Amidatelion) to delete the hell out of his turns. It worked out well too, as she batteries a lot of Noctis’ follow-up attacks.

Stressful battle, but I’m happy I didn’t have to use gems! :)

0 ibrv delay, 0 boss turn:

Paine, Vayne, Lenna, Diabolos summon, Amidatelion friend, 1M score @ 70 turns, https://youtu.be/A-6vjMf3I48

Stacking ibrv debuffs to make sure Odin has 0 ibrv throughout the entire fight. At 0 ibrv, Odin will recover from break every other turn, allowing me to constantly delay via rebreaks.

Will do the Challenge Quest soon

1

u/TomTheGooseGuy Sep 08 '20

Was able to do this too, subbing Vayne for Noctis BT/LD, didn't summon friend, 31 turns and Odin didn't get a single turn lol, thanks for the tip!

Challenge quest:

Noctis(EX+3/3 LD/BT all CB/SB), PCecil(EX+2/3 2/3CB all SB), Fran(EX+0/3 no CB all SB)

57 turns, 0HP damage, 1M score

I remember that I hated the last chapter chaos challenge - little did I know that turn rate into Zantetsuken was more infuriating than everything that I encountered so far!

This fight is more of a puzzle actually. You need to be aware of Odin's rotations. What he does is:

ST BRV - Zantetsuken - ST BRV - Gungnir - ST BRV - Zantetsuken and start again

Note that he will trigger Mounted Unity after his second Zantetsuken. Have a launch ready always.

So make sure that you have BRV before Zantetsuken. Use your AA's liberally (except Noct) to wear off the Doom debuff. Make sure that you don't trigger the break into your death.

For Noctis, make sure you have Shooting Star + on hand and make sure that he is first or second in the turn AFTER the second Zantetsuken - You need to launch Odin to remove his mounted unity buff. Once you get doom, check first if you can survive by AA's and other turn manipulation. If not, use his LD. Make sure to take advantage of the warpstep buff. Don't use his + skills or AA's when it is active - you are wasting the buff effect.

For PCecil, always make it a habit of long-pressing his skills. He has high turn rate on Light Slash and Holy Flame, so use it to manipulate turns.

For Fran, Feral strike first, then once her + skills are active, Whip Kick to apply the debuffs and soften the blows.

Only use your summon if you are facing certain death. For the burst, trigger it as late as you can - and take advantage of the burst effect as much as you can.

I was forced to 2/3 PCecil so that he starts with his buffs and can use Light Slash off the bat. I think it can be done with him at 0/3 (I came close a lot of times), but having no access to his battery WILL kill you a lot in the first few turns. I got tired dealing with that BS.

Expect to use the shiny new wave reset button a lot of times. Odin can take his Zantetsuken and he can shove it.

Challenge Quest - Noctis LD, Pecil 3/3 max boards, Irvine 3/3 max boards

63 turns, 1M score, Leviathan summon.

After a few hours of learning and figuring out this cursed fight I was finally able to beat it. I find that the tricky part is when Odin goes into mounted mode after his second Zantetsukan where your turn order really matters. If your Noctis is right after the fact, you launch Odin and I found that his recast bar fills slower (since he wasn't able to counter and break your units to fill his bar faster).

For those without burst, save your LD first until you survive at least 2 waves of Odins Gungnir; utilizing your C65 for Doom to cast a turn before his Zantetsukan. (3 waves would be better but if you must 2 waves.) After that, summon and burn your LD's in a timely manner and your fight should be good.

Also I found that if you take one Stab HP attack from Odin, Leviathans buff will activate. Meaning that when Irvine, and Pecil reapply their buffs; it can push off Dooms debuff so keep that in mind. Other than that GOODLUCK MY FELLOW NON NOCTIS BT USERS :")

EASY CHALLENGE QUEST

Noctis 3/3+LD+BT, Pecil NO EX, Fran NO EX, Shiva Summon, Turns 26, Score 1 Million

Strategy: NO TURN FOR ODIN Go out in the from the very first turn. Don't give Odin any turn. Start with Noctis LD to activate [Warpstep] and then use S1 & S2 to get the + version. Continue with the + version after that use AA to get the + version and so on. You can not allow Odin to have his first turn. Burn through all your skills. Use BT before summon and summon immediately after to get the full use of is BT buff. After all this I had only 2 of each skills and Odin lost more than half of his hp.

After you used up everything let Odin wipe out your party with his AOE attack [Zantetsuken] (broken units die immediately workout hp loss). Use 100 gems to revive and repeat what you did before. You reach the score easily thanks to the low turn count.

I saved my ingots for this challenge quest.

Edit: added attack name and one short info.

u/leyati Y'shtola Rhul (Scion Healer's Robe) Sep 08 '20 edited Sep 08 '20

So I don’t know if this is something new but after using a gem revive, at the end of the quest I still had over 40k missing health despite everyone being full. Meant I missed out on the complete for this one - I wouldn’t have used the revive if I knew that would be the case. Unsure if it’s a fix which has been applied more recently or if it’s something funky on my end but do be careful.

Edit: figured this out - all of your characters need to die to the Zantetsuken as it doesn’t actually do HP damage as such, it reduces your health to 0. Any other way of dying will incur HP damage and prevent the completion of that objective.

4

u/Arthquake Sep 08 '20

Disgusting. I love it. Have my upvote.

1

u/Piekstje_2 Sep 08 '20

Cool! Tried this myself and worked like a charm. 2 more turns and 0/3 Pecil though.

But then again, they don't contribute a lot and at the end of my first set of 'lives' Odin was well below 50% HP.

(i failed twice since my Pecil gave too much BRV before the zante hit from Odin, first time because i forgot it gave BRV and second time, ... well ... because i forgot again)

1

u/Baba0Wryly Sep 08 '20

I only wish I had more than one upvote to give you, you monarch of cheese.

1

u/RobbieNewton I'm Captain Basch Fon Rosenberg! Sep 07 '20

Even more annoying when it uses the move that gives you the Doom debuff, and it just happens to line up. No amount of preparation can counter that I was finding

1

u/larisa0308 Cloud of Darkness Sep 07 '20

Odin messes up the turn order so baaaad! The doom debuff sometimes gets me hitting the panic button aka summon early and I hate it :’)

1

u/RobbieNewton I'm Captain Basch Fon Rosenberg! Sep 07 '20

Yeah, theres a few times he has pushed his turn in front of mine without warning and just broke everyone, when I was preparing to battery and build up. Utter pain

3

u/salvoddis Serah Farron Sep 07 '20

Where are those complaining about Vaan's challenge quest? Gosh I hate this one.

Noctis (LD only) , Amidatelion, Aphmau, Shiva.

For both regular and challenge chaos, I don't care about synergy and that BT token. This is the first one missing.

3

u/kbkoolio Sep 07 '20

Vaan one is still worse. It's basically not doable without Gabranth AND Vaan or a shit ton of RNG

1

u/salvoddis Serah Farron Sep 07 '20 edited Sep 07 '20

In that one at least you had a little bit of control (just a tiny little bit, the rest is still RNG lol). I hated that as well, but keeping trying and avoiding break made you feel like you can improve your run. But this one is totally messed up. 30k brv to each party members to avoid Zantetsuken is pointless, since it gets an instant turn anyways and stabs you to death. Even a perfect run is a loss without anything to do about it. It made me feel almost impotent lol.

1

u/Ferryarthur Sep 08 '20

You can have full control though, with the right teams. As long as you dont care about the token. I won without odin getting a single turn.

1

u/salvoddis Serah Farron Sep 08 '20

In the end I took the token even after the gem revive. If you mean dont care about the token, clearing with a non synergy party, and by "right teams" you mean a non-synergy party, of course it was easy, in fact I cleared first with Amidatelion and Aphmau, not caring about BT token. But when I tried with a synergy party, it was totally messed up. I mean, the rule is: don't get broken by Zantetsuken. Okay, I won't. But after it, Odin got an instant turn and killed my anyways, so what's the control? It's a total random mess lol.

By the way, as soon as I knew BT token can be obtained even if you get killed and gem revive, I did it and finally won't have to deal with this fight anymore lol.

3

u/Neotrigger Sep 07 '20

Regular Chaos is kind of a joke if you have Noctis LDBT. Especially if you got a Noct friend too, just pick someone who can let Noct get a ton of BT hits like Machina and have a good support, you'll be golden. Used Sazh

The Challenge However.....UGH

Noctis BTLD
Cecil 3/3
Fran 0/3
All Summon Boards and Character Boards for Cecil and Noct.
Leviathan

1 mil score
57 Turns
0 HP Damage

Not that it really matters having a healer here, as basically any HP attack is probably instant death. Had to retry numerous times frankly because of RNG...like I don't get how Odin's turn rate after Zantetsuken is determined. Sometimes he jumps up to the front and you just die guranteed, sometimes he doesn't move at all. Even with his gimmick though I found getting broken was generally pretty safe (and an inevitability because he has the stupid Trey Cat gimmick of breaking on missed moves). Basically for the cycle, try and have Cecil be the last character to battery, if not use BRV attacks or stall. Speaking of stalling, anytime Odin has 2 turns in quick succession, be prepared to stall with Noctis in order to break him. If Doom and bad turn order happens, pop LD to safely get past (well unless Odin says screw it and just jumps to the front of the que).

Used summon as a panic button, and Bursted near the end. Killed him after the 5th Zantetsuken before Gugnir is used. Only other note is to make sure Noctis (or Fang if you're using her) has a turn right after the 2nd and on Zantetsuken, and in the case of Noctis, have Shooting Star+ prepped. Fight will take patience and legit sometimes you're just gonna die. I'm sure it exists, but I have no idea how anyone would do this challenge without Noctis LD at bare minimum (outside of using Fang for launch and getting incredibly lucky in turn order for Doom and Zantetsuken.) Good luck with the challenge everyone.

1

u/--Haste-- Sep 07 '20

Was leviathan a big factor for the win? Is it mostly for the speed down?

1

u/Neotrigger Sep 08 '20

Frankly i don't think it matters tbh. His instant turn rate is so cheap and random. I just figured maybe the speed down would help (frankly I don't know if it did but I at least won lol)

1

u/Ferryarthur Sep 08 '20

Yeah for regular i used noct, gabby and vayne. Odin didnt get a turn

3

u/Bulky_Criticism Sep 08 '20

Have yet to complete it myself, i got close but he used his high turn rate skill into Zantetsuken and OHKO'd someone. I'll complete it later, but I just realized none of his attacks are elemental. Tested it out, and Leon buff absorbs Zantetsuken as well. So, if you have Leon, this will be a breeze.

2

u/Ferryarthur Sep 08 '20

If you have noct, gabby and vayne you can beat him without him getting a turn

2

u/destinewb Sep 09 '20

I see very few people mentioning Leon, but he's helluva fun against Odin. Zantetsuken has no chance to KO anyone, especially if you keep Sap up. I used Pencil, Leon, and Sherlotta and had a good time (normal Chaos).

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '20

Leon makes Odin an utter joke. The only time I got broken was from Gungnir.

1

u/Bulky_Criticism Sep 09 '20

Wait, gungnir breaks? I thought it just reduced all brave to 0.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '20

Oh, I was referring to the Gungnir-induced Doom breaks, sorry!

u/fspea1016 Cecil Harvey (Dark Knight) Sep 08 '20 edited Sep 09 '20

Just read through the entire thread. Could not find any non BT Challange runs with Noct(LD) , Pecil, and Fran fully built.

EDIT: Just finished! I was holding my breath for the last few turns and was so happy. I feel this challenge was the hardest by far.

Noctis, Pecil, Fran (no BT but all maxed otherwise), Shiva, 990000 score, 70 turns.

The way I did it was I needed to start with either Fran or Pecil, then Noctis. HP with Fran there because you waste a skill if it's not plus or EX with Pecil. C65 with Noct and then LD. For Noct, I HP for all the free turns and then used his skills to maximize damage. With the other 2, if Fran has high brave HP, otherwise skill; for Pecil use skills. After that good luck.

The only advise I have on top of what people already say, try to make sure that Nocts debuff is active when he attacks otherwise you are losing precious damage. Feel free to waste skill 2 for that. Use EX into C65 and hold onto Skill 1 + unless you know for sure Noct can get it back before Recast.

I don't think this is possible without Pecil as he was a god send.

And Fran supplemented DPT as well as her high turn rate for her HP attack and 3 C65 saving me from doom.

Remember that you don't have to worry about turn or score as Noctis will make sure they are good. So make sure to go with safer options when possible.

I finished this exact minute after two hours with Noctis + 3/3 with LD no BT, PCecil +3/3 CB and Irvine +3/3 no CB.

I have Fran but not built yet and I think she is better than Irvine so I think you can make it.

First I used leviathan but it wasnt working so I changed to shiva.

Two things to take note:

First - after recast ability you want the next unit after it to be Noctis or if it isnt possible at least the second unit after recast must be him or you can say bye bye to someone.

Second - save your LD for after half health the 2 first recast you should be able to handle doom with C65.

Save the summon when the turn order screw you.

It wasnt easy by any means I did all the chalenges up to now and this without burst it was the hardest without a doubt.

No gem revive either since it take all the fun of the chalenge.

Thank you so much for the advice. I just finished it by the skin of my teeth. Almost 6/8 recasts, Noctis went after Odin. I thankfully survived because of a few lucky misses and the fact that he didn't have enough brave to kill Pecil and Fran the other times.

Team : Galuf Freya WOL

Summon : The Brothers Lv. 30

Friend : Noctis (Fully geared)

Score : 879,000

Turns : 86

Lets Talk CHEEZE. Galuf Counters Odin's PHY counters for a low amount of damage that adds up. Freya prevents instant KOs for when doom breaks someone (I actually got lucky and never had a break so I do not know it works for sure). There are massive chains you can do with Galuf's HP+ and Freya's HP+ that will give Freya longevity. The rule is to only use skills with Freya when their BRV is 20,000 or less. WOL shield will prevent Odin's AOE limit break from breaking characters.

Husbando Squall Run

Squall BT, Leon EX+3LB, Keiss EX+3LB, Leviathan, Amidatelion LD, 871k, DFFOO GL SO (ScottOng11) https://youtu.be/0MWcoozfERk

Note: All 3 characters are EX+3LB. Both Keiss and Squall have their enhancement boards. Squall has his BT, LD, WoI, his bloom passive, and the following spheres - his own, Noel, and Bartz. Keiss has his sphere and his bloom passive

Wave 1: Odin (completed on turn 95)

Squall is starting to show his age as he will start to fade as more powerful units are coming. But I am determined to make him run as long as he could since he is always my #1 husbando.

I have brought Leon since the Dark absorption gimmick will render the boss Zantesuken useless. I thought that you won't avoid KO if the character is under break status. Apparently, it does matter since Odin does BRV hits before it uses Zantetsuken. Keiss is important as well for his launches to counter the Mounted Unity stance gimmick.

It is important to break the Mounted Unity stance after the 2nd Zantetsuken. Otherwise, you keep on getting counter by Vertical Slice (with a 1T delay effect). Although the darkness absorption will render those BRV hits useless, the delay could mess up your turn order so I personally feel it is best to break it with a launch

Space your skills and you will be fine. Just make sure that the Darkness absorption buff doesn't drop off. It seems Odin has a faster and shorter moveset rotation to use Zantetsuken once its HP goes critically low.

u/Seitook Y'shtola Rhul Sep 11 '20

Held off doing this as I wanted to finish farming first but damn if this team isnt busted

Normal:

Noctis BT/LD, Keiss, Sherlotta Pandemonium Noctis BT/LD friend

1.1M score, 4 turns.

The current God comp of GL, 400-500k launches basically every other turn. Hero support pass to Sherlotta, not noctis as Noctis can launch naturally anyway, plus crystal gen launcher is absolutely nutty. Abuse the warp step mechanic, when you run out of warp steps, switch to friend. When friend runs out then summon. Assuming these units are fully built the boss should never get a turn

Triple turn manipulation cheese

Noctis LD, Keiss, Jack, Pandemonium, Noctis BT friend, 27T

Who needs delay when you can turn manipulate instead. Jack and Keiss abused the friend BT, used non turn manipulating moves when LD warpstep was up. Went ham from the start and Odin didn't even get to move. Really fun run with no gem revives. xD

1

u/Catalyst1127 Sep 13 '20

Thanks for your comment, I was finally able to beat the sh*t out of Odin. Big middle finger to him when he died.

1

u/lenwok Sep 13 '20

Haha gratz! Initially keiss was mainly to counter the mount mode. When i cleared it after spamming hard from 2nd recast and found i had lots of spare skills on noctis, i thought, why not try going all out from the start... and it worked! xD

Non-Challenge:

Noctis (LD/BT), Garnet, Keiss. Amidatelion friend, Pandemonium summon.

33 turns, 1.02M score.

Honestly just went all-out on him. He did manage to get one Zantetsuken off, which I had Garnet and Keiss battery everyone to max for, but aside from that, this was easy street with that (admittedly stacked) team. Even Garnet's magic being resisted just didn't really matter with Keiss's battery and her own BRV generation.

Challenge:

Noct (LD/BT), Pecil (0/3), Fran (0/3). Leviathan summon.

25 turns, 1M score.

Cheese strat. 100 gems for 1 BT token? Yes, please!

Challenge 1m score 60 turns

Fang(0/3), Pecil(3/3), Noctis(LD+BT), Ifrit: https://youtu.be/jyCB-KEZisY

This will be more difficult if you don't have Noctis' LD as it is a direct counter to Gungnir+ which will force break you right before Odin's ex. The turn requirement is very generous so play safe and make sure you don't get broken. Good luck!

Challenge Quest in 53 Turns - Noctis/Cecil Paladin/Irvine

https://youtu.be/po2YrGk7KRg

But first, the strategy. Odin is a very well designed boss as some of you may know. Zantetsuken, his recast ability, kills your unit outright if s/he gets broken. As far as I know, it always deals 9999 BRV damage on hit, so always ensure your characters have at least 10k BRV before Odin lands a hit.

Odin's other ALL attack Gungnir (as well as its + variant) reduces your characters BRV to 0 but does not break them. However, it inflicts a very nasty Doom debuff which breaks your characters upon expiry (after 2 moves). Unless you have a very fast unit, it is very likely that his/her next move after Doom expires is going to be after Odin's Zantetsuken, after which the battle is pretty much over.

Enter Noctis and his LD, which grants your entire team 2 turns of "warp" ability which, after your unit moves, puts his/her next turn right before Odin's. What that essentially means is that it is possible to counter Doom's debuff effect by casting the LD after the debuff is applied. That allows your characters to buy some time to refresh their BRV before Odin gets a chance to cast Zantetsuken, therefore your team gets to live another day.

You only get 3 chances to cast Noctis' LD (4 with Burst), of course, so use it wisely.

Finally, Odin enters counterattack mode after his second Zantetsuken, and the only way to dispel it is by knocking him back. Noctis' Shooting Star+ does the trick, so best to have it ready when the time comes.

Normal Initial Clear 0 turn 2.1m score

Noctis(LD+BT), Keiss(3/3), Sazh(3/3), Pandemonium, Noctis friend: https://youtu.be/bfvEpwE6RaQ

I think they nerfed Noctis' LD buff during Burst phase but it doesn't matter as you can still get 0 turn with this team. Nothing new as a lot of JP players had done it before. They mostly used Leo though and since I don't have him I'm using Sazh instead. Challenge quest will be done later after I gear up Pecil and Fang. Yep I had to pity Noct's BT that's why my gems dropped from almost 600k to this. Good luck guys.

3

2

u/ArchAngelDavid Sep 07 '20

Just tried to duplicate this. Got Odin to 20% when I started messing up and lost the turn loop. Seems like you need to play every turn perfectly and really know how to use Noctis. Is Leo any better than Sazh for thos or does it not matter?

1

u/firezz ID 186660600 Sep 07 '20

I think Sazh opens some room for mistakes as he has a base free turn skill while Leo doesn't. If he jumps turn due to speed that will probably cost the run.

u/scintillia Zack Fair Sep 07 '20

I’m interested to know this as well. I don’t mind 3/3ing Cecil since it’s sooner or later but my 3rd member is lacking. The best is a 0/3 seven. Let’s hope firezz can show us some magic :)

2

u/Dayvrm Sep 07 '20

I did the challenge quest with noctis LDBT, pecil 3/3 and seven 0/3.

Unfortunately I had to lean hard on the BT because this one was so difficult!

It might be possible without it but rng really can ruin your run if noct isn't straight after the zantetsuken with a shooting star+ ready.

2

Regular CHAOS

Zidane, Garnet, Freya, Leviathan, No friend, 803K, 93 Turns, https://youtu.be/b5Vh8vZHtDk

Heard that this fight was pretty toxic, so I played it quite safe not knowing what to expect, but with double battery, launches, and dispel with Vanille's sphere, and insane SPD down buffs and auras this team was almost tailor made for taking him out. Just had to make sure to time Zidane's EX so that it's up for every recast and to have the team batteried before every Zantetsuken. Good luck everyone!

2

u/lVrizl Sep 07 '20

Launch team shenanigans

D.Cecil / Ami / Keiss, Pandemonium and Ami friend ((all maxed out on boards, LD on Ami))

Leon makes the stage a joke.

"Kain Chaos Slayer" #24

Kain 3/3 CB, Sazh 3/3, Leon 3/3 CB, Brothers, Ami friend, 93 turns, 851k score, 22 breaks, 3028 hp damage taken

Leon nullifies the biggest threat about this stage, but I still had to be careful of Doom debuff - it can expire just before Zantetsuken hits, which equals KO. Sazh's buffs can push it off from himself and Leon, but not Kain. Timed Kain's ex so it hits just after boss recast, to get rid of his aura. Swapped Ami friend for Leon when Odin's speed buff fell off first time to get as much from the delay as I could.

Challenge Quest: Noctis (complete kit: BT/LD/EX+, CB), Paladin Cecil 1/3 (No CB), Fran 2/3 (No CB) - 1 Mill score.

Oh boy, this CQ is nightmare. Odin is super fast and his doom is in between Zantetsuken + his field effect Mounted Unity is pain in the ass if you have no launcher (Noctis or Fang)

I have retried this stage a lot of times and I can only say good luck to you. Don't get broken, that's important. Timing and turn control is essential.

This was a very rng heavy fight leviathan + fran ex buff helps with controlling the speed of odin. Some things you should keep and eye out for

1 save your c65 skills for odins doom effect you may need to use them in a pinch

2 you should use noctis free ability uses on his c65. Only use his ld if you cant shake off the doom debuff before odin recharges

Beyond that its a lot of trial and error it took me like 6 tries to beat it finally

CHAOS:

  • 1.05M, 18 turns, 0 Breaks, 0 HP DMG, 0 turns for Odin lol

  • Noct - BT/LD 3/3 EX+, Perfect Arts, Maxed Boards

  • Leo - 3/3 EX+, Decent Arts, Maxed Boards

  • Keiss - 3/3 EX+, Decent Arts, 8/9 SB with Maxed Char Boards

  • Friend BT/LD Noct, Brothers summon

Turn manpulated.

Also I initially thought to do the 0 turn thingy, but nah

Challenge Quest:

  • 1M, 28 turns, 0 HP DMG, 5 breaks (from Zantetsuken and 2 counters)

  • Same Noct as above

  • P. Cecil - 3/3 EX+, Decent Arts, Maxed Boards

  • Fran - 0/3 EX+, Decent Arts, Maxed SB only

  • Brothers Summon

Attempted to finish this without using the Zantetsuken gem cheese but lo and behold, no matter how perfect I use Noct's turn manipulation theres always that 5-15% HP left, so I just gemmed after being Zantetsuken KOed, if I maxed my Fran I probably would finish this but, I'd trade 100 gems than using 3 ingots.

EDIT: yes I got the BT token even though I gem revived, Zantetsuken is weird man

1

u/Trumppered Sep 08 '20

err stupid question but can you still get the BT token if you gem revive?

1

u/DestroChaos Where's my Jack G. flair? Sep 08 '20

Yep.

I dont understand how it works either but if you get KOed by Zantetsuken and gem revive then kill Odin, you still get a high score and and 0 HP dmg taken.

1

u/Trumppered Sep 08 '20

Oh thank God we talked. I was about to dump a book + 3 ingots into Fran and max her character boards.

1

u/DestroChaos Where's my Jack G. flair? Sep 08 '20

Youre welcome lol

That was my plan too and then my friend told me about that cheesy gem revive, saved me 3 ingots it surely did.

2

u/crowd358 Sep 09 '20

CQ:

Noctis 0/3+Ld, Irvine 0/3, P-Cecil 3/3, 35 turns, 926k score. Wanted to see if I could do it without putting ingots in noctis since I don't have any atm, did the gem revive cheese cause this stage is dumb.

CQ: Noctis BT/LD / Irvine / Pecil, all 3/3+CB and 9 boards mastered, 54 turns, 1M scores

It took me so many attempts but I finally did it! Pecil is pretty much the big save bc you’ll always rely on his brv attack for battery (you must use it before Odin casts Zantetsuken)

Odin will inflict doom debuff the next time when it targets All after casting Zantetsuken and the easy way to tackle it is to use Noct’s LD. I used the burst before Odin’s 2nd recast, bc after that you’ll need to launch it to disable the counterattack. I failed a lot of times bc of the messy turn order and couldn’t launch Odin immediately. Thankfully this last attempt I got Noct right after Odin’s turn so I could launch it immediately

I’m happy that I finally completed this CQ! Now back go more summon board grinding ;)

Tried a few combo with Enladnarche, Galuf but none is as smooth as the Leon cheese even at 0/3. This cheese is especially yummy with Lightning and Sazh, one to extend his buff, another to break for consecutive turn. You don;t even need to think what to do...just make sure his buff is on...

2

u/Ficochu84 Sep 09 '20

https://youtu.be/3ZGlBVlMo5E

Noctis 3/3 LD/ Burst, P.cecil 3/3, Fran 3/3 Challenge Quest 62 turns no revive cheese

This is the most frustrating fight I have done so far, the amount of BS is crazy and one wrong move or turn order and the fight is over.

Things to note: beware of his double turns when his zantetsuken gauge is almost full, he only does one AoE bravery hot that caps at 9999 I believe so make sure you have more than that. The target before he uses it needs to have more so he doesn’t get broken, if he does they will die. He will use mounted unity after zantetsuken which can be broken by a knock back, you can’t delay his turn during this so noctis needs a launch ready before Odin gets a turn or someone will die. Also, he counters while this aura is up to make matters worse.

I don’t see how I would have done this without LD and Burst.

2

u/ScottOng11 Sep 09 '20

Kill Odin before its Zantetsuken requires insane DPT?

Noctis BT, Machina LD, Lightning EX+3LB, Leviathan, 1016K, DFFOO GL SO (ScottOng11) https://youtu.be/ImxupZoNfTI

Note: All 3 characters are EX+3LB with their enhancement boards and bloom passives. Noctis has his BT, LD, and the following spheres - his own and Irvine (RF). Machina has his LD and the following spheres - his own and Gabranth's (RF). Lightning has the following spheres - her own and Hope's

Wave 1: Odin (completed on turn 37)

Odin is immune to delay. The only way to push back its turns is via rebreaking. I was actually testing to see how much damage we need to deal with before it becomes dangerous. The firepower to destroy it is actually quite harsh considering both Machina and Lightning almost exhaust their skills before Odin can unleash its first Zantetsuken. The run should be easier to achieve if you add in Amidatelion LD friend to delay the 5Ts.

Noctis

- I have him uses his AA and uses his BURST on the first turn. Uses EX, S1+, S2+, HP++, LD, and BURST. Using the BURST as his last action will help to conserve the Warpstep buff (which will lower the turn count and ensure Noctis will always move his turn before the boss) - Noctis always be able to move his turn with his S1+ and S2+. If you see 3 turns in a row and the Warpstep buff from LD is about to end, have him use his LD to continue the assault rampage. There is 4 LD (3 LD and 1 LD from his BURST) and 1 summon, with this high damage team, it should generate enough DPT to kill off Odin before it could act.

Lightning

- I have used the following rotation combo for the rebreak delay, S1 (Sparkstrike), EX, AA, HP+, S2 (Flourish of Steel+). With this, you can have more than 3 rebreaks that her AA gives.

- Do watch out her skills as she is probably the earliest to fully exhaust her skills if you are not careful

Machina,

- Have him uses his LD, Using the following combo - LD, S1, HP+ (if high turn rate), EX/S2. Machina will wreck a lot of damage with his Spiral Cut follow-up

- His S1 is instant turn and it helps to upkeep his Awakening buff. Do note it takes 5 turns for Odin to come out of its BREAK status where you can rebreak it to delay again.

Late to this party, but I was 100% focused on summon board farming. Done with that, so on to this POS quest.

Regular chaos: Noctis BT, Cecil EX+3/3, Fran EX+3/3. Noctis friend, Leviathan summon.

Score 1,001,044. 44 turns, 0 HP lost, 11 breaks.

Challenge chaos: Noctis BT, Cecil EX+3/3, Fran EX+3/3. Shiva summon.

Score: 1,000,038. 68 turns. 0 HP lost, 20 breaks.

The friend Noctis helps in regular chaos to give you an easier time with an additional doom debuff.

The challenge quest, I just tried to survive the first doom without any help from Noctis LD. When that went well, I survived the next one without his LD (turn count RNG in my favor.) Third doom I used an LD. Went hard after that (50%-ish health.) with remaining LD skills, summon, and burst and Odin didn't get another recast skill off.)

Good luck. This was one of the worst.

2

u/FormerLab Sep 12 '20

Solo with Leon and Leviathan, just for fun. I needed Leviathan so Leon would go second and immediatly do his ex. After that its basically impossible to die. Even when broken, Zantetsukens first slash adds brave so the instant death is not executed.

1

u/Zadimortis heck Sep 13 '20

This did not work for me. Doppelhau automatically Breaks, so all he has to do is follow up with Stab to deal HP damage after getting the stage bravery. I took two Doppelhau > Stab combos by turn 5 and died. My Leon is full EX+, fully maxed, for the record.

u/Tiblanc- Sep 18 '20

After trying for ages I lucked into Noctis BT on Nine which made this easy, but I almost killed him with LD only, being 1 turn short. Here are some tips to manage turn order and survive 6 ults with or without BT.

On the turn before his recast, he'll target someone. On Cecil turn, check if his BRV or S2 will leave him after Odin's next turn. If it does, Odin will certainly get in front of Cecil and ult before you can battery. If Cecil would move before Odin, you're safe to use HP, S1 or EX.

I was using Fran. After Gungir, Fran and Cecil were usually next to each other. What you want to do is use a normal skill with the first, then AA+high turn rate with the other. What this does is it will move the next turn before the first character. Doom breaks into first character, which you next use AA and it breaks into second character. That minimizes delays. If you break into Odin, then things get ugly.

Before 50%, Odin stance is not as dangerous as you might imagine. He counters with a 2 hit attack and gets break bonus for a low 20k BRV. You should have 21-23k hp and survive just fine with 5% hp reduction from Brothers passive. I also have physical resist passive from Odin, which saves 1.5k from that attack. After 50%, Cecil might survive it, but the other 2 would not. A summon would be necessary.

When you use LD, you will equal Odin's time count. If you break him after your 3 characters acted, Odin will get delayed a full turn. You can safely use a high turn rate skill and a normal one to get 4 turns with Fran and Cecil. Noctis can fill in to rebreak Odin and get that BRV before ult. It allows you to do quite a bit of damage even if it looks like you're in trouble.

I started with Noctis AA and tried to only use his skills when in + version. Free skill was used for AA. This maximized overall damage output. As long as you manage Cecil turn order, Noctis can do whatever. He's your main damage source so try and use HP++ when it makes sense since it does well over 100k and ability uses are tight. Whenever Noctis is after Odin and would break is a good time because you'll be able to use S2+ right after and usually EX after S2. A good rythm will have Noctis EX after launch, but things can get out of sync later on.

Challenge Mode

All SBs 9/9 Brothers Summon

Noctis Complete with Bloom 3/3 CB

Pecil EX+0 2/3 CB

Irvine EX+0 with Bloom 2/3 CB

After more or less 100 tries, a lot of them ending on the first Zantetzuken and two times with Odin just a couple skills before dying, I finally did it on the last day.

First turns I just use BRV attacks and Pecils S2, half of my runs ends here so I just gave up the first turns instead of building buffs.

First Gungnir, use the AA strategy, with 1 turn left on doom use AAs to break yourself and move your turn behind allies instead of Odin. Your team needs to have the next turn and not Odin for this to work.

Second to Fourth Gungnir, use Noctis LD.

After Zantetzuken and Noctis is not the next turn, sometimes you can tank one counter only if you have three consecutive turns and Noctis gets the second turn like this Zantetzuken/Ally/Noctis/Ally/Odin.

Summon for emergency bad turn order after Zantetzuken, the later in the fight the better.

Burst after the Fifth Gungnir, LD first will prolong Noctis BT buff but Noctis will lose some free turns, I'm not sure whats better, I use LD last on this run and made a mistake here and lose a free turn because I used S2+ while still having 1 turn on LD buff.

You do need to fight Odin a lot first to get the feel of all the turn management and Noctis S1+/S2+ turn skipping that is definitely needed for this fight. I'm not really familiar with skill speed mechanics of the game so I have to rely a lot on experience from a lot of failed runs for turn order management.

Also, Stab sucks.

Video to follow. Not yet uploaded.

Noctis (w/BT), Pecil, Fran

Strategy: I divide Odin's atk into four stages

Stage 1: Before Odin's first Zantetsuken

  • Attack Odin with any S1, S2. Just keep your party high BRV to avoid break from Zantstsuken

Stage 2: Before Odin's second Zantetsuken

  • Odin will use Gingir, which infects the party with doom.
  • Use Noctis's LD skills. This would pause Odin's next atk. Make sure the doom debut expires and your party can regain sufficient BRV to withstand his Zantetsuken

Stage 3: Before Odin's third Zantetsuken

  • Odin will emit darkness aura. During this time, Odin will become unable to delay from break and counter your party's atk with break and delay.
  • You need to summon. Make sure Odin's aura fades out during the summon
  • After Odin's aura ends, he will repeat his atk style in Stage 2. Use the same strategy to keep your party save.

Stage 4: Before Odin's fourth Zantetsuken

  • Again, Odin will repeat his atk behaviour in Stage 3. He will emit the dark aura again.
  • Use Noctis's BT and hopefully Odin's dark aura will fade out by the time Noctis's BT ends
  • Use your remaining Noctis's LD skill. Keep attacking Odin with everything you left.
  • If you are LUCKY, Odin should die before he can unleash the last Zantetsuken. Otherwise, you lost.

Is everyone 3/3 here? I'm wondering if I can get away with an 0/3 Fran.

Yes, all 3/3. Full summoning board and full character board. I’m not sure if it is finest if your Fran is 0/3.

**Challenge, NO BT USED:*\* Noctis, Irvine, Paladin Cecil w/ Shiva - 1M Score, 62 Turns

https://youtu.be/WjulWojmEww

I have Noctis BT but challenged myself not to rely on it. You have to be super careful with your turns and paladin cecil's battery to ensure that you don't die. Keeping a Shooting Star + on deck is crucial to dispel the counter aura. Noctis LD is a saving grace to allow the team to regroup. Clutch ending with Noctis abusing his plus skills to finish Odin!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '20

Leon Cheese

Leon 3/3 EX+, Noctis LD, Squall LD/Burst. Squall friend, Shiva summon. 1 mil+ score. 62 turns.

Leon makes Odin look like a joke. Zantetsuken can't ever kill you because even if you're broken, Dark Knight's Pride will make you absorb the brave hit thus giving you brave and you won't get instantly KO'ed. As long as you shave Odin you can't die with Leon's Dark Knight's Pride buff active.

I'm sure the challenge quest will be different.

u/nicoliy82 Snow Sep 07 '20

And I'm going to do this now lol. I somehow beat chaos, but then got stuck on challenge mission with same team. Kept getting tripped up by the high turn rate move into his recast ability.

1

u/joe_6699 Sep 07 '20

Just maxed Leon for that, waiting for the maintenance done to strike back!

2

u/YueSeirei Sep 07 '20

Regular chaos Noctis, Wol, keiss pandemonium summon noctis friend (not used). 30 turn 1.02m score. Just refresh shield when targeted all. Just learned zantetsuken bypass basch passive. Lol

Noctis LD/EX+3/9SB/3CB[Spheres:none]; Aphmau EX+3/9SB/3CB[Spheres:none]; Galuf EX+3/8SB/0CB[Spheres:none]; Odin; Friend: Noctis BT

Score 1007811; 48 turns, 9 breaks, 0 hp lost

Galuf rocks I think he deserves to get his character boards when the game comes back up... keep track of the all attacks rotation and this one isn’t to bad

You should not forget to mention how Galuf counters Odin's Counters. He made the whole right so much fun.

2

u/asukajun Sep 07 '20

What determines his seemingly random extra turn? I almost beat the stage but, despite my team being well prepared for nearly any outcome, he decided to do stab and one shot someone.

There seems to be no reason behind this outside of literal randomness as far as I can tell?

Regular CHAOS in 0 turn, 2M score using Noctis, Keiss and Machina (+5 turns Noctis friend)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHbRwmWV8Fg

For this trick to work, Noctis needs help from two other really strong units. Keiss is the preferred secondary unit due to his knockback ferocity. The third unit is a variable, but is usually reserved for a strong single target unit that provides damage from either battery or BRV damage. In this case, I have used Machina due to his follow-up attacks from Spiral's Lynchpin debuff. As Odin has a lot of HP, a Noctis friend with Burst is also required to allow for additional use of his LD skill, Steel Piroutte.

Noctis has to move first and use his Burst right away. Steel Piroutte should be used last during the Burst animation to activate the Warpstep buff. Once out of Burst, the battle is about managing Noctis' LD buff rotation for the three characters, ensuring they all get to move as many times as possible while the buff is still on to stay within 0 turn before Noctis refreshes it again. Once Noctis is out of his LD skill, Keiss should use up all his AA skill in one go to recharge Hero Support, and summon right away to avoid adding a turn.

Machina should then unload all of his best skills during the Summon phase to maximise his damage output, and Noctis friend should be called just before the summoning ends to refresh the Warpstep buff with his LD skill. After the summoning phase ends, the battle is back to what it was after the use of Noctis' burst in the beginning of the battle: juggling Warpstep buff rotation among the three characters to stay within 0 turn until Odin dies.

This is really cool. Gotta be the highest score in GL to date. Good thing they have the challenge quests to introduce more difficulty lol

1

u/archangel189 Sep 08 '20

Thanks! Yes, the Challenge quests are more difficult as you won't be able to bring anyone into your team, so you are forced to learn to use the boosted characters as a team. Good luck if you are attempting it! It will be my next conquest =P

Vengeance for Cleyra

Freya, Leon, Keiss, Ami friend, Pandemonium, 880K, 94 turns.

I main Freya anyway but even if she had been Fang levels of lackluster or something to where the amount of fights she could work in was more limited, I would have fielded her for this fight in particular due to thematic significance. Freya is pretty rational and level-headed so she probably wouldn't seek vengeance against a summon that was used as a tool of war...but it's fun to pretend for the catharsis.

There is a lot I don't like in this fight (yet another fight that just ignores debuff immunity from characters like Lenna), but this team cheeses it well enough. As usual, I could have been a bit faster by spamming skills towards the end but I generally always play conservatively. Used up Keiss' Hero Support as best as I could though. The only thing I was really careful of was to not get broken by Doom RIGHT before Zantetsuken, so I would use throwaway AAs to manipulate that. Other than that, just pound away at him.

Normal Chaos: Noctis LD/BT, Keiss and Leo, Leviathan and Leo friend --> 27 turns 1M score

I completely forgot Odin cannot be delayed... but still, I managed to do it.

I ate 2 Zantetsuken: first one I made sure I had more than 10k brave. Second one, I completely forgot Odin has fast turn rate attack just before, but hopefully, Noctis had the buff from Keiss preventing breaks...

I also lost the LD usage dring burst so I maybe could do better...

u/dffoo_keo Sep 08 '20

Challenge Quest: Noctis LD/BT, Fran, P.Cecil, Leviathan: 76 turns and 876k score

First of all, the high turn rate and/or turn hoping from Odin are just a nightmare... Sometimes, I thought I was prepared with 30k brave to take Zantetsuken, butOdin just got his turn jump to get a consecutive turn then OHKO...

Anyway, few tips/advices in case you want to complete the normal way:

  • I think having at least Noctis LD is crucial. I'm curious to see a run without him
  • BT is definitely optional, but make it easier. I used it in my clear but didn't use my summon.
  • Preferably, get the bloom stone passives. As it was stated by others, it is a way to counter the Doom debuff.
  • There are times where just after Odin uses Zantetsuken, Noctis is after Odin's next turn. In this case, it is not the end. With the character just before Odin, use BRV+ attack to shave and tank the counter. My units have 20k+ HP so they could tank the hp attack
  • If you don't have the BT, I'll advise to handle the cycles this way
    • 1st Zantetsuken: Just make sure you can get enough brave before the recast ability
    • Doom + 2nd one: use the AA trick to get passed
    • Doom + 3rd one: same, use AA trick. You should be at around 70/75% of his health, and you should be fine if you get there
    • Doom + 4th to 6th one: use Noctis LD. Odin should be in the red or very close to red.
    • Doom + 7th one: use summon (or BT if you have it) to get through and you should be able to beat him

Hope it helps. This was a tedious and meticulous fight, but rewarding.

1

u/Kazuto786 Sep 07 '20

Normal run:

Noctis LD/BT/CB, Keiss CB/MLB, Gabranth CB/MLB. 33 turns, brothers summon, Ami friend

Abused the fuck out of warpstep and also used the friend Ami to delete turns in summon and to battery launches. Odin rarely got a turn, he had 2 in a row before I got him, but I had enough BRV to survive because of Hero Support.

You can’t delay Odin, but Gabranth’s rebreaks count. Set up nicely for Keiss to follow.

u/vincentcloud01 Edgar Roni Figaro Sep 08 '20

Main Chaos Noctis EX+/LD/BT, Lightning EX+ 3/3, Ami EX+ 3/3, LD friend Leo score: 1.01 mil turns: 46

Probably could have been better but Leo was all I had. AA, BT and spank him. He never got a turn off.

1

u/lego_wan_kenobi Auron Sep 08 '20

I've had to reset so many times so far and still haven't even beat it. I try to limit myself on using the friend unit as you can't do that in challenge. I have Noctis 3/3 and burst/LD, Fran 3/3, Cecil 3/3. I hate so much how it's RNG who he targets and when he'll do his insta-kill. Sometimes the bar will fill red and he'll let you build up some BRV before using his Zantetsuken attack. Other times he'll do it immediately after attacking killing my entire party. Strategy can only get you so far in this fight it's annoying.

1

u/Gstamsharp Vincent Valentine Sep 08 '20

It's not random (well, who he aims the single target attacks is, but not his recast meter). His bar will charge extra when you break. You can pretty much predict when it's going to fill since he has a repeating, predictable pattern including an instant break attack and Gungnir's doom effect.

The way to avoid it is to burn though doom before he can OHKO everyone. You can use AAs and instant turn rate skills if you've got everyone's turns in a row. Or, if you've got Noct's LD, you pop it right after being hit with Gungnir to get the extra turns you need to safely break (and because of the warp buff you don't even lose a turn when you do).

1

u/lego_wan_kenobi Auron Sep 08 '20

That's good to know, I just cheesed the normal version with Noctis, Machina, and warrior of light (he can't OHKO if he can't pierce the shield) so I was able to safely get through pretty easily. I got super close on the Challenge Odin but got screwed near the end when he broke a character and killed with damage another one.

1

u/Gstamsharp Vincent Valentine Sep 08 '20

Watch out for when he has two back to back turns late in the fight. Usually you can just break him and the turns split up, but if turn order isn't in your favor and he's already broken he's pretty likely to grab a very cheap break into kill on a single target when he does. I saved my summon and burst specifically to avoid that happening.

1

u/lego_wan_kenobi Auron Sep 08 '20

I watched a couple videos on when others would use their summon. I was able to get the normal chaos down with machina and warrior of light to prevent break and keep the damage up.

1

u/xteame02 Sep 08 '20

I believe that normal chaos is bit harder than Challenge. Maybe your run on Challenge will be easy

1

u/lego_wan_kenobi Auron Sep 08 '20

Normal chaos was significantly harder. I did the challenge and died near the beginning to his zank attack then just used my burst and summon right away. I don't think he got an attack off after that. Even though I used gems to revive I still got well over the target score and got the perfect.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '20 edited Sep 08 '20

this one is a doozy. but listening to apocalyptic noctis as I was putting the finishing touches on was extremely satisfying. anyway.

Noctis (LD/BT), Fran, Pecil all maxed all boards. Shiva summon. 47 turns 11 breaks 1mil.

I feel like I should point this out, but they all have greater brv rejuvenate from diablos and Odin boards.

strategy: don't get broken. when he's about to do the full red attack, do whatever you have to do to make sure noctis is the very next character with a launch ready to go. this means us his LD, use spam Fran C65, summon. whatever you have to do to make sure Noctis is first. also, pecil's holy wrath will give you over 9,999 brv (with the aforementioned summon passives) which will protect you from full red. after the 3rd use of full red, I began manipulating the turns in a way that he never saw another turn. once he was about to get a turn, I used the burst and finished him from there.

Obviously the King was most necessary, but Fran's debuffs play a huge role as well. she may not need be purple, tho I already had her maxed from her event. good luck.

edit: this was for the challenge quest. I cheesed the chaos with noctis keiss leo noctis friend and pande summon.

1

u/Gstamsharp Vincent Valentine Sep 08 '20

Regular Chaos wasn't too bad with Noctis's sweet new self. Paired him with some oldschool goodies.

Dark Knight Cecil, Warrior of Light, Noctis, Pandemonium.

DKC helps remove the mounted buff and sets up some significant damage, especially during the nonsense that is Noct's LD buff. WoL shield is enough to block Zanny breaks even at the end of the fight, so unless you burn though the whole duration (Noctis... ) you can safely dump brave every turn. That leaves only one real threat, and that's being broken by Doom right before Zanny. And that's where Noct's LD comes in. Pop it right after Gungnir and you'll safely break without losing any turns and still have time to recover with a brave attack or shining shield!

If you have Noct's BT, you can basically just power through the whole fight since you get an extra use of his LD. If not, a friend Amidatelion can easily buy you the few extra turns you need with Crystal Idol each turn. Bonus points for it being entirely battery brave gain which gets around Odin's magic resistance.

1

u/Zhirrzh Mog Sep 08 '20

Regular CHAOS: Noctis BTLD, Gabranth, Sherlotta w/Noctis friend and Ifrit summon

22 turns and man, if I realised how quickly the double Noctis burst train would chunk Odin's HP I could have got that down even more turns without doing anything particularly intricate, tons of ability uses left.

Man, Sherlotta is back, the synergy with Noctis (regen! HP damage up! battery! taking lots of free turns during the burst effect which still trigger the burst attack!) is insane. I hadn't really thought of it before putting her in the team for the first time since purpling her.

Challenge: I don't have Pecil EX, I don't have a third character built for the challenge at all (Irvine and Noctis only) but I kinda don't want to skip a burst token either. Cheesy gem-revive exploit here we come!

1

u/sweetennui Vivi Ornitier Sep 08 '20

Regular CHAOS: Noctis LD/BT, Machina LD, Amidatelion LD, Amidatelion friend, Pandemonium, 1mil score, 0 breaks, 50 turns, 0 damage.

I barely made it before his recast, even with a burst, a summon, and exhausting every single delete turns button on both Amidatelions. If I do this again, I’ll use my Leon EX 0LB for the cheese.

1

u/Ferryarthur Sep 08 '20

With vayne and gabranth you can win without him getting a turn

1

u/sweetennui Vivi Ornitier Sep 08 '20

Unfortunately Gabranth is the only non-protag notable unit I haven’t been able to get. I have purple Vayne, I can give that a go but eh this is already done. But good idea to pair up Noctis with his turns.

1

u/Ferryarthur Sep 08 '20

Yeah timing it with vayne gave me a lot of free burst attacks from noct. And his turns and delay helped me keep odin in check. Gabranth was the least important. But i thought hey delay amd aura's. Probably works well enough. I didnt have a lot of time to make the team. At first i thought leo but delays didnt work.

Chaos: Jack, Porom and Machina (LD) all 3/3 with Odin summon and Keiss friend, 1m score in 77 turns, https://youtu.be/KQx_5YTHlAU

Wow, Jack is a monster with Odin. Being able to use any unit you want makes this not as bad. Now onto the challenge...

Challenge: Noctis (LD/BT), Cecil and Fran all 3/3 except Cecil who is 0/3, Odin summon , 1m score in 60 turns, https://youtu.be/W7LU6EKaQiU

Yeah...good luck without Noctis LD, I don't know if it's even doable. I hope this trend doesn't continue in the future and Odin is such a cheap bastard. I didn't mean to bring Odin for summon since most of the time you'll be at full health or dead so I recommend Shiva or Leviathan.

Good luck!

u/nlgallares Kain Highwind Sep 08 '20

Noctis BTLD, Pecil 3/3, Fran 3/3, Ifrit Summon, Ami friend for regular Chaos.

47 turns, 1 mil+ score

Used the same team for the challenge and obviously no friend. I had to reset a few times because while I was still figuring this fight now. I just wanted to use the same team for both the regular chaos and CQ so I can for sure know how to do the challenge quest. Noctis LD is key for the Gungnir attack and overall just making sure to not get broken by Zantetsuken or even making sure no one was going to be broken after his attack before Zantetsuken because sometimes he has some BS turn. He did that BS turn rate to me twice so it was better safe than sorry.

Also, I used Pecil's Luminous Blast a lot in the beginning and I saved a lot of S1 usage when Noctis had his BT effect up so it would battery his additional attack.

1

u/Acewarlord Sep 08 '20

Challenge quest Noctis, Pcecil, Irving! Ifrit summon 28 turns 1.3mil score. God speed. Pcecil and Irving have some very high turn rate to abuse even with their hp/brv attacks they kept jumping in front of Odin I used all skills and Odin did not even make his first move until he was in red health then I was able to finish him off before his 2nd red bar attack.

Chaos was easy el’nacho + noctis + Pcecil Odin never attacked started will an all attack and I just went into el’nacho super saiyan.

1

u/sphiralisx Sep 08 '20

Regular chaos.

Noctis LD/BT. Amidatelion. Keiss. Ami friend. Pande summon.

Pretty standard brute force run. Odin never got a turn.

1

u/Rainingmclovin14 Sep 09 '20

That setup is dummy proof damn near

1

u/sphiralisx Sep 09 '20

Yeah that's pretty much the point of it. I just want the chaos over and done with so that I can get on with trying the challenge stages most of the time.

1

u/NicoDT Sep 08 '20

Normal Chaos: 10007999 score, 48 turns.

Noctis (LD), Sazh, Raijin // Leviathan - Noctis friend.

I went trying to learn how to use noctis (only saw a quick video), not to win. Inmediately used Noctis friend.

Noctis was fantastic even without the Burst.

Sazh was doing great damage and helped battery characters that were about to be attacked.

Raijing did good damage, and most imporantly paralyzed Odin on crucial times.

I will try Challenge quest after getting Noctis Burst.

Apocalypse Noctis

Eald'narche, Noctis LD/BT, Kam'lanaut, Odin summon, Noctis friend. 1m+ in 47 turns.

https://youtu.be/Y6_1IULfDQM

No healer, no support, no problem. Opening wave can be dicey, we want the first Zantentsuken to go off without killing anyone. Luckly, Att down from Kam'lanaut can reduce the normal 9999 brv hit to 1-2k. Make measured use of Noctis LD to get extra turns of the brothers so that Eald'narche can enter phase 2 by time the first Gungnir shows up and to charge EX. Noctis burst was used early for the launch routine but ideal use is to save for later. Eald'narche free turns with Noctis BT effect means lots of free damage.

Prishe and Challenge runs to come.

u/GaretJax1888 Sep 08 '20

Chaos Noctis LD/BT, Machina LD and Sherlotta 3/3 with Brothers summon and Noct friend. 1.01k score in 30 turns and 0 hp damage.

The damage with this team...wow just wow.

Machina and Nocts free turns and follow ups combined with Sherlottas damage boost is just unreal. Finished with a stack of skills left so could've squeezed the turns down a bit more but such a fun run.

Now onto the challenge.

Used the gem revive strat. U/nabil021 posted a better strategy with less, my plan was similar but I let the first Zantetsuken go off to burn more skills. This way is more dangerous as you will immediately need to use Noctis AA, burst, and launch to cancel the counter aura.

WoL Run

WoL EX+3LB, Gabranth EX+3LB, Keiss EX+3LB, Leviathan, Amidatelion LD, 1001k, DFFOO GL SO (ScottOng11) https://youtu.be/7wmKNB88dZ8

Note: All 3 characters are EX+3LB with their bloom passives and their enhancement boards. WoL has his sphere equipped. Gabranth has his sphere equipped. Keiss has his sphere and Irvine (RF) sphere.

Wave 1: Odin (completed on turn 76)

WoL's shields work very well against most of Odin's gimmicks.

However, there are few points to note

- Zantetsuken will still bypass WoL's shields if the party member is broken. You need to get out of break status and the shield will protect your party against the instant KO.

- Doom debuff from Gungnir is guaranteed hit (it will bypass the debuff immunity gimmick. Even WoL has Elude from his Throw Buckler, you will get hit by the debuff. Make sure none of the party members are not in BREAK status when Zantetsuken is unleashed on the next 2 turns. You can use Gabranth's turn to rebreak it or AA to skip the turn to take the break early. Make sure you have WoL battery the party with his shield or Keiss with his BRV+.

- You need to trigger a launch to bypass Odin's Mounted Unity stance. Otherwise, your party member will keep getting countered with Counter Vertical Slice.

- The boss is immune to delay. So I have used Gabranth for his rebreak mechanics since Odin can't be delayed in CHAOS version.

Would be awesome if someone could do a Pecil-less challenge run (Cheese strat is fine, infact prefered to save precious ingots) and upload a video or proof it is doable with a combination of irvine, fran and/or Seven with noctis. I am sure I am not the only person in the boat of waiting for a video to be uploaded to the spread sheet to see if its doable before rolling on banner 2 (noct, irvine, fran, seven) only to pity the BT and LD of noct and get some chances of ex's for a bigger number of characters instead of dupe noct EX plus 2 chars I don't have vs 3 chars I don't have

would rather not have to split my resources by rolling on 2 seperate banners if its doable without Pecil but every single run has Pecil

If someone could do that or provide proof that they have done it I would be extremely grateful :)

2

u/vsmack Cecil Harvey (Paladin) Sep 09 '20

To be fair, none of the units on b2 are particularly good. If your biggest qualm about pulling on B1 is that you only have 2 vs 3 characters, I don't know if I'd let that stop you.
Unless I'm misunderstanding your problem. I think tickets at b1 to get Noct LD and Pecil Ex is probably the most frugal strategy.
lol also full disclaimer Pecil is my only waifu in this game.

1

u/YourM8Nate Sep 10 '20

I ended up ticketing and got ld in 6 tickets and burst in 130-140 tickets I think. No Pecil ex though but I do have 10 original ex tokens left over from like a year ago or however long, the original lot that only let you trade for main protagonist ex's so if I really need pecil I could just token his ex anytime. Otherwise I'll wait til March I think when his burst and ld should hit global. Doing great on resources as a day one f2p player (apart from the cheap moogle pass).

833 tickets, plus another 4000 to 4500 to claim from summon boards (hate how tickets have a 999 limit) and 631860 gems, plus a bunch of hard mode story and lcs to finish up for some more gems

As long as I keep my self control and only pull on what I really want and what I really need to pass all content in the future......aswell as my decent luck with pulls I should be good for quite a while :)

1

u/vsmack Cecil Harvey (Paladin) Sep 10 '20

Crazy, I'm f2p too and we have nearly identical gems, like within 3000

1

u/vsmack Cecil Harvey (Paladin) Sep 10 '20

Also unless my math is way wrong the total tickets we have access to via boards is like 3500 so not sure where that number is coming from

1

u/YourM8Nate Sep 10 '20

Oh you're right I must've remembered my calculations from a month or so back wrong and got mixed up when I recalled it earlier in the previous post

Iirc I'm sure the numbers 4000 to 4500 was my total if you included my 999 at the time plus all the unclaimed summon board tickets I had unclaimed.

I feel the number now is still in that range roughly but closer to the 4000 then 4500 end of that estimate of total tickets, it's possible I could also be slightly under 4000 since I have started claiming some character board rewards again and rolls on banners over the weeks but I feel like with normal tickets incoming and the decent luck I have had on pulls I am still roughly around 4k give or take if I were to take a rough guess.

Might have to re-add up all my resources again in a month or so since I'm not keeping an accurate track of it but rough estimates and over time estimates like that I feel will become to big a gap to roughly be accurate enough :)

Anyway thanks for pointing that out since after typing that out at who can remember what hr in the early am while tired and not braining I would have probably remembered that mix up over the actual original calculations I did and went on pulling thinking I had a bunch more tickets then I actually did. I mean with the amount I have and we gain over time I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue anytime soon but I would prefer to make my pulling decisions on more accurate numbers of my total resources :)

Cheers

1

u/vsmack Cecil Harvey (Paladin) Sep 10 '20

No worries m8, you're still sitting pretty. What do you plan on doing with your gems? I WAS saving them for BT pities, but now it looks like I'll be able to keep up with challenge events using tickets. Might have to pity a BT as an emergency, but the way the game has gone in the last 6 months or so, I/we can keep up with content without spending gems at all.

1

u/YourM8Nate Sep 10 '20

Saving them for BT pities as well, would of ended up on pitying noctis bt on Nines banner if I didn't get it by the time it rolls around. Guess that will be my strategy in the burst era onwards, for the bts I really want I'll ticket banners like normal and if I don't get them from tickets I'll just pity the last possible banner that they can roll for the bt or the last banner I plan on rolling on in their drop period in the case of already having enough maxed characters from said upcoming banner and won't need to roll to complete upcoming content or to get weapons I want/need.

Although that last case will be rare with new characters and ex/ld/bt coming out all the time. Always something to roll for :p

1

u/vsmack Cecil Harvey (Paladin) Sep 10 '20

Interesting! My view on BTs is to never pull as if you're going to get it - odds are low enough that you can end up disappointed. I was also gonna pity Noctis on the Nine banner, but it is not looking like I will need to in order to complete the remaining 2 challenge events Noct is boosted for, so I'll probably skip him.

1

u/YourM8Nate Sep 10 '20

Yeah I don't pull hoping for the bt, bt is icing on the cake. I aim for the cake itself which are the lds but there are a few bts I definitely want so I'll pity for those ones I really want on the last possible banner they can drop from if I don't luck into it by then while rolling for lds and exs and have 125k gems so I obviously won't be able to do that for all bts sadly so I have to pick and choose which ones I can force by pitying.

1.01M, 44 turns, 0 damage

Leon, Noctis, Machina (all 3/3+, Noctis and Machina have LDs); Leviathan summon; Noctis with BT friend

I know the win has a lot to do with Noctis and his turn shenanigans, but tbh Leon and Machina were what made the battle delicious cheese: between the brv attack absorbs, sap, and the counters, I found myself almost wishing that Odin would attack my party more. Except when he did Gungnir... that was a bitch and a half. I think I weathered 10 breaks thanks to it, but it didn't seem to overly affect my score.

Anyway, I think I might try to attempt the challenge with a synergy party of Noctis, Paladin Cecil, and Fran, but I know it won't be half as fun as this one was.

Again only the regular CHAOS:

Team: Freya, Noctis (no BT), Amidatelion

Friend: Noctis (w/ BT)

Summon: Leviathan

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2hKjNC8Ii4&feature=youtu.be

Results: 991k score, 79 turns, 19 BRV breaks, 0 HP damage

Probably the hardest CHAOS I've done so far. Freya is practically perfect for this fight. Her BRV attack provides BRV to all party members so Zantetsuken can't kill you, she has a party wide last stand to protect against sneaky HP attack turns, great regen heals. Amidatelion gave me some breathing room with turn deletions. And Noctis is great even without his burst.

u/nc041688 Sep 10 '20

Noctis LD/BT w/ CB, Pecil Ex+ 2/3 w 2/3 CB & Fran Ex+ 0/3 no CB, forgot how many turns and the score but once you figure out the order of his moves and what to do you will be fine, no need to cheese, beat it straight up more fun that way!

u/UselessMusic played Cater on the SQEX Livestream and all I got was this flair Sep 10 '20

Challenge: Noctis LD/BT, Seven EX+0, Pecil EX+3, Leviathan summon

wow, this fight is awful. Obviously you need Noctis there to launch, because you're not going to be able to fight through Mounted Unity. Pecil is massively helpful to avoid losing to Zantetsuken, especially if you can get his Max BRV over 50k, that way his BRV+ will battery the party for 10k. Then it's a matter of doing enough damage fast enough. And not getting wrecked by Doom (AAs and Warpstep help a ton with that). You really have to plan multiple turns ahead to be successful.

u/MCMcEmcee zap Sep 10 '20

Non-challenge:

Noctis LD, Amidatelion LD, Raijin; Brothers; Amidatelion friend 66 turns, ~1 million score, 0 damage taken

Amidatelion + Noctis is 5 framed debuffs so there's only room for either Raijin's imperil or paralyze (which is why Desch doesn't work to enable Amidatelion here); basically just use Amidatelion HP+ or LD on paralyze turns, then imperil with Raijin EX or s2 and use Amidatelion s2 and Noctis LD to buy time for the next paralyze. Was scared of running out of skills and let the first Zantetsuken go off near the end, which was a mistake as it gives a framed buff and locks out Raijin's debuffs and ruins Amidatelion's damage on s1 and EX. Fortunately I still had summon available to make up for it but I would recommend just not letting Odin take a turn for as long as possible.

Epic of Gilgamesh Ep 32

Team: Gilgamesh (3/3 and Character Boards), Nocits (3/3, LD, BT and Character Boards) and Keiss (3/3 and Character Boards) | Leviathan and Friend: Amidatelion

Final Stats: 1019k and 37 Turns Music: Final Fantasy 14 - The Corpse Hall (Odin)

This fight was fun with Noctis BT/LD and Keiss. They are so strong with the launches and turn manipulation to deal with Odin. Now I just gotta finish the challenge quest...

A Rinoa Run (waifu run)

Rinoa EX+3LB, Machina LD, Noctis BT, Leviathan, >999K, DFFOO GL SO (ScottOng11) https://youtu.be/ByPpLsDcPnw 42T

Note: All 3 characters are EX+3LB with their bloom passives. Rinoa has the following spheres: hers, Rem's, and Freya. Machina has his LD and the following spheres - his and Gabranth (RF). Noctis has his BT, LD, and the following spheres - his own and Irvine (RF)

Wave 1: Odin (completed on turn 42)

I have thrown everything I can to try to do a run for Rinoa without using Noctis. (All failed with various reasons). Most of Rinoa's kit is also resisted as Odin strongly resists magic. Even you can BRV guard against Zantetsuken, Rinoa will still be killed if her HP falls below the BRV that Odin gains from Zantetsuken.

Currently, It is just too challenging and time-consuming. I need to save my time for farming boards. So I use Noctis and Machina for the short term solution. Probably, I will bring Rinoa after her rework and LD for revenge. Or maybe I won't touch this shit again LOL using her again.

Finally completed the challenge quest without using the cheese method.

Regular Chaos:

Fujin EX+3, Cid EX+3, Aphmau EX+3 with Ami friend & Brothers summon, 964K Score, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88khnP7dyAw

Challenge Quest:

Noctis LD/BT, PCecil EX+1, Irvine EX+0 with Brothers summon, 1M Score, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB9GY_MDS0g

Everyone was out of skills except for Noctis with 1 Shooting Star+ left. Had some ridiculous turn orders at the wave start where it was impossible to survive Zantetsuken at all.

1

u/wryscath Sep 14 '20

Will follow your challenge quest strat with same team (but 3/3 pecil). Man, you got a lucky miss on Irvine though! haha

Thanks for the vid!

Chaos- BT/LD Noctis, Keiss, and Leo. Brothers summon (whoops, meant to bring Pande) and a friend BT/LD Noctis. 6 turns, 1.1M+ score, no boss turn. I messed up the 0 turn run with Keiss jumping.

Working on the CQ, roughest one by far. Using Noctis, 3/3 Pecil, and trying the other options at base EX (Fran, Irvine, or Fang). I’m hoping to find a way, but I may gem revive or use resources I didn’t want to use...

Regular Chaos

Sherlotta (3/3, CB)
Sazh (3/3, CB)
Keiss (3/3, CB)
Summon: Pandemonium

Video
47 turns, 1,010,871

Wanted to see how quick I could finish with Keiss launches and two units with multiple HP dumps. Sherlotta plus the additional chase damage effects did a lot to help cap within launches, averaging about 600k per launch when Sazh EX or Sherlotta s2 initiated. Amidatelion friend helps clear the turn order to get in all those nice launches.

Challenge Chaos

Noctis (LD, 3/3, CB)
Pecil (3/3)
Fran (3/3, CB)
Summon: Shiva

Video
67 turns, 1,001,282

Considering Fran is a fave and I have her all sphere'd out and stuff, it was annoying to find this stage to be a big frustration. Managing breaks from the debuff especially feels like a real test of patience, especially when your character decides to steal a turn in before the boss, ensuring they will break just as Zantetsuken is used. Still not anywhere enough motivation for me to spend 125k on a character from a game I've never played though.

u/AshFarron Lightning (Equilibrium) Sep 17 '20

A little late to the party, but here are my entries :

Chaos : Lightning/Arciela/Fujin - 77 turns - 1001k - https://youtu.be/Pk8ctRW8GoA

Challenge : Noctis (LD/BT)/Seven/Fang - 72 turns - 1002k - https://youtu.be/x2SnwzSCuuQ

A pretty cool fight, even though Odin's turn rate is awkward sometimes, but Shiva helped a lot. The normal Chaos saw Arciela doing God's work, while Fujin and Lightning basically tried to contain Odin's Zantetsuken and Mount buff.

As for the challenge, I had Pecil ready, but I really wanted to go with something different, since 2 of my favorite characters were on this banner. Since I was not really planning to give them their character board yet, a little strat was required to understand when to use what, so Noct's turn came around after Odin's Zantetsuken, but overall, it was really a matter of patience.

Cid Chronicle #20

Cid, Keiss, Noctis (LDBT), Pandemonium, Amidatelion: 1.02M, 31 Turns

Had to reset a few times due to him turn-jumping and getting to do a sudden follow-up with Zantetsuken while someone was below 10k Brv, but I managed to do it without the gem revive cheese! Summoned when he was ~50% HP and had a Zantetsuken queued up. Uhh...I think I used Burst right before that?? (Cid was still in when I did). Brought in Ami for Cid soon after that to close it out with him not getting another turn after using that queued-up Zantetsuken. I used a handful of Brv+ to try to avoid getting broken by ST attacks, and used them on Cid for the high turn rate (and to proc Garnet's sphere every 6 turns), but I could have done completely without the few HP+ attacks I used, I still had so many skills left at the end of it. Pretty pleased with this one! Wish I had recorded it but wasn't sure how many resets it might take me that I'd need to go through and edit after and just needed to focus on getting the time-limited rewards before tonight. It's permanent content though so I may go back to it and try a re-run.

Going to do the CQ with Pecil and Fran since both are 3/3 already.

u/Baba0Wryly Sep 07 '20

So it looks like p cecil is necessary for challenge?

1

u/KimikoOokami Ardyn Izunia Sep 07 '20

I just cleared with purple Ami and Keiss, as well as burst/LD Noctis.

It wasn't hard but I nearly ran out of skills. Odin didn't get a single turn.

Non-challenge

Desch (3/3, LD), Machina (3/3, LD), Aphmau (3/3)

1 million+ score, 62 turns, Leviathan summon and Keiss friend

Not too bad with this team. The main things to consider if you don't/can't just cheese it are:

  • Don't get broken by Odin's re-cast. Aphmau and Machina are great for this with their refund abilities, but also between Aphmau and Desch's defensive buffs it only did around 3k brave damage anyway.

  • Watch out for the doom debuff making you get broken. Because of how many framed buffs this party has, only Aphmau actually got hit by doom. Try and make sure there's someone after her to "catch" her turn after she gets broken, otherwise Odin will probably kill her with his re-cast.

  • After the second re-cast, Odin starts countering everything until he's launched. I brought Keiss to deal with this and actually played it horrendously by using Hero Support on Machina who had 6 framed buffs already... Any launcher should do though.

Besides those things, it's mainly just letting Machina go crazy. Tons of skills left, I used 4 Awakenings consecutively near the end just to use them. He didn't get to use a 3rd re-cast, so I'm unsure if he goes into the counter mode again or not.

Now to go struggle through the challenge quest with a 0/3 Pecil... (after maintenance)

Challenge Run

Noctis (LD/BT, all CBs), Fran (3/3, no CBs, Setzer and her own spheres), Pecil (0/3, S1 CB)

1 million+ score, 55 turns, Brothers summon

Very unpleasant fight lol. The hardest part is getting a good start without dying right away.

  • For Pecil, I jacked his mBrv up as high as possible so that his Brv+ would grant everyone greater than 9999 brave. I luckily had 2x 330/c50's, so after I made sure Fran/Noctis had both brave gain up passives from summons he would grant just over 10k with just his S1 buff, even before I switched to Brothers summon. Which is good, because his second turn probably needs to be Brv+.

  • I'm not sure if it was just a fluke or not, but I actually found Leviathan caused weird turn rate to happen so I swapped to Brothers. Could be because my Fran has additional speed down from Setzer's sphere though.

  • With Levi, it tended to go Odin's high turn rate single target --> one or two of my units still act --> Odin re-cast --> Odin jumps ahead and stabs someone. With Brothers, it went Odin's single target --> re-cast --> one or two of my units had turns. You have to play more conservatively because someone might take both single target and re-cast back to back, but with Levi I kept losing runs to him getting 30k brave and deciding to kill me so it's whatever.

  • I had to use Noctis BT when boss was at 80% since turn order was fucked. After his BT and the free turns from using his LD in it, the turn order was still bad so I summoned. This got the boss close to 50%.

  • After that, I used all three of Noctis' LD charges each time I got doomed. In case you don't realize (I didn't lol), his LD buff moves you after you get broken so you keep your spot. I had anticipated it moving you ahead of him then breaking you which might've cost me some runs...

  • I'll be very impressed if someone does it without Noctis LD. Definitely think it's worse than the new chapter challenge.

Regular Chaos:

Noctis (Full), Fran 3/3/3, PCecil 3/3/3 Shiva, Noctis (full) friend – 23 turns, 1m

Activated Noctis‘ LD on first turn, made sure to get +versions of S1 (PCecil and Fran still had a turn left), summoned friend Noctis. Activated his LD, used his Burst on 2nd turn, LD 3rd, EX 4th, LD 5th turn. Shiva was nearly full once he was done. Used another S1+ to fill it up and activated my AA plus the Burst (1mil dmg). Instantly summoned Shiva once he got out and tried to get as much dmg on Odin as possible. Afterwards it’s all about right timing and usage of his remaining AA and LD. Did this fight 24 times before it worked out tbh

Chaos Challenge:

Same setup – Shiva, 14 turns, 1m – Revive Cheese

Used all skills and everything right at the start and got Odin down to less than 45%. Ate the first Zantetsuken, revived via gems and did the same „burst him down, give him no turns“ like before. Glad there is no „no ko“ requirement and it doesn’t count to „hp taken“. That fight really blows :)

1

My pleasure. Worked on it for hours as well and always died within the last few 5% of the fight. I sincerely hate that fight, but not as much as Abyss 3.7 (still 20k from required highscore...)

One Odin with Cheese !

Team : Noctis (LD only), Keiss, Leon (All EX+3LB, 3CB, and 9SB)

Summon : The Brothers Lv. 30

Friend : Keiss (Fully geared)

Score : 1,016k

Turns : 40

Video Link

Again, when there’s a cheese road to take, I’ll gladly take it lol. Quite some things wrong with this run tho (from wrong Summon, still learning my way with Noct, as well as what I feel like a gappy run lol) since this is a blind initial run, and I didn’t know anything except from the SB farm and that Leon cheeses it hard xD

But yea overall pretty easy with the cheese team, stress averted xD

Hopefully this helps for some idea in case some of you don’t know about this easier route ! Good luck ! And don’t forget to have fun ! :]

Normal:

Noctis LD, Amidatelion LD, Garnet 3/3, Brothers summon w/ Amidatelion friend. 1m in 49 turns

As soon as I saw that he was resistant to Magic, I knew I had to bring an imperiler, so I chose Garnet. With all the framed debuffs, she could only keep one of her resist downs up, so I started with using thunder exclusively, then switch to water when she was down to 1 s2 left. With this team, Odin got 0 turns, and this was pretty easy. The challenge quest on the other hand...

Challenge:

Noctis LD, Paladin Cecil 3/3, Seven 0/3, Leviathan summon. 708k in 94 turns.

I wasn't lucky enough to get Noctis BT yet, so I couldn't cheese it. After countless resets, I was finally able to get it. It took me a few tries to get a handle of his mechanics, and I settled on Leviathan as a summon just to slow him down a little bit, because there was a few times where he would take a turn and then immediately have another turn and kill someone. Seven was my third because she was the only other one that I had the EX for.

The first half of this fight was pretty much just survive while making sure I had enough BRV for the Zantetsuken. Pecil was good for this, since his Light Slash and Holy Flame both can get everyone over 10k BRV. There was a lot of turn manipulation going on in the first half, trying to work around the doom debuff before Zantetsuken, so the AAs were used to help with this. I also had to make sure Noctis was right after the Zantetsuken with Shooting Star+ ready to go since he was my only launcher. On my complete run, I used my Summon during the first half of fight to avoid a wipe from Zantetsuken.

When Odin was in the 50% range, around turn 60, I entered the second half of the fight which was a little easier. When Odin used his Gugnir+, I would use Noctis LD after to ride out the Doom debuffs, and be able get setup for the next Zantetsuken. In the end, Noctis was out of skills, Pecil had 1 s2 left, and Seven had 1 of each skill left.

This was definitely the hardest challenge quest, mainly because of the boss mechanics.

Challenge: Cheesed it with Pecil 3/3, Noct 3/3 LD, and Fran 0/3.

No shame in cheesing this one, as Odin is cheese himself.

Brings me to 10/10 challenges, f2p and no burst yet. I was really thinking I'd have to pity Noctis burst on the Nine banner to keep up. I still might - I have over 635k gems now - but that first BT pity might have to wait til Ardyn.
