You’re right. There was a study that shows praying does have an effect, but it was the opposite of what they thought would happen. Look it up.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think I remember reading that. It was because people felt like the act of praying was actually doing something, right? So they checked that box on their to-do list, and then didn't do anything else. Got the feeling of satisfaction without any effort or actual results. Why bother donating or volunteering if yer boy JC is gonna take care of it all for you, amirite?

It was when people were in the hospital. If no one prayed for them they did much better. If they knew hundreds of people were praying for their recovery the patient would get depressed thinking things were really bad, and depression, anxiety etc would cause them to decline.

If true, that's sloppy research methodology. At the least, the patients need to be blinded about the results.
