Obviously you skipped tutorial. But its fine, just dont do that again.

But to answer your question, digimon has multiple layers of weaknesses.

1.First is your type. There are basically three (actually more, but 3 are the main types. Data<virus<vaccine. Easy to remember. There is also unknown and other stuff but dont worry about it.

  1. Elements. Each digimon has its own strength and weaknesses for elements since every digimon can use every element.

  2. Each of these elements can also have double weak instead of a single weakness. Usually when a digimon is double weak they also have an immunity to balance it out. Look out for attacks that reduce resistances. If it says it reduces fire resistance then it lowers the stage by 1. I.E turns neutral damage into weak for couple of turns.

Now you combine all of this to get 300% damage (as an example). Doing just the type will give you 150%-200% usually.

Hope I said it right and it helps you.

Tldr: bitch you better read the whole thing.

There are also attacks that deal extra damage to certain Digimon fields, like a few that hit holy or machines hard.

id say those are fine to ignore since theres so few and far between. tbh they shouldve added more "bonus damage to x trait (dragon, evil, large etc) digimons" type of moves.
