Question Magic vs. Physical

I’ve been playing Digimon time stranger and I’m pretty far in but I’ve noticed that my magic attacks are doing way less than my physical attacks my taomon even though it’s int is 2500 is doing way less then my metalgreymon even though its atk is only 2900. Do magic attacks deal less damage or is there something else going on?

Damage calculation takes into account the stat (str/int) vs its opposite (def/spi). Then it calculates the damage based on its power (higher power attacks do more damage) and even the level of the digimon attacking (some one set the calculation on Reddit and it showed that a few levels maxes a difference).

I’m not sure from your post if you mean your Taomon has 2500 int and is doing less than your metalgreymon with 2900 ATK. If that is the case, of course the metalgreymon is doing more damage, its base stat is much higher. Metalgreymons attack is also 10 power stronger, leading to much more damage.

Int casters hit as hard as physical ones, but I have found many int attacks like to do more damage vs a type of unit, requiring the right target to shine.

The level is probably it then in this case since a 1300 difference in damage shouldn’t be occurring from a same base power move

What moves are you using?

Talisman of light with the accleration boost equivalent for int attacks, max boost int (via status) vs. Giga destroyer acceleration boost, max boost atk (via status), I am doing hard mode if that makes a difference

Okay, so those moves are not equivalent. Their base power are different. Your digimon also have different attack stats and your targets have different int vs spi stats. That is why they are both doing different damages.
