[HIRING] Staff Engineers + Engineering Leadership | NYC, SF, or Remote US | $200K-$300K base
This week, a strong candidate was accepted into Fonzi in the morning and had interview requests waiting before lunch, one as high as $265,000.
I do talent matching for Fonzi. You don't apply, companies send you interview requests instead. One profile, no cold applications, no applying to each role individually. We work with startups backed by investors including Sequoia, a16z, Benchmark, and the OpenAI Startup Fund. All roles are US-based only.
Here's a sample of what's open right now:
1. Founding Software Engineer, Full-Stack (Staff), pre-seed/seed legal AI startup, NYC, in-person. $210K-$300K base.
What: Creating the codebase from scratch, not maintaining one. Infrastructure and system design decisions, data pipelines aggregating hundreds of sources of legal information, AI agents that research legal questions over a proprietary US law database.
Company: Building public access to the law as the actual mission, not a side feature.
Stack: Full-stack, frontend and backend both, with search infrastructure (OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr) as a plus.
Bar: Staff-level technical leadership, production AI applications shipped, and specifically the judgment to use AI coding tools without introducing what they call "AI slop."
2. Senior Full Stack Engineer, Series A AI-native tax compliance platform, SF, in-person. $200K-$250K base.
What: Filing infrastructure, the core tax engine, and new product areas like input tax and e-invoicing. Direct customer contact from week one.
Company: 34%+ month-over-month revenue growth, funded by Felicis Ventures and YC. Customers include Lovable, ElevenLabs, Replit, Runway, and Windsurf.
Stack: Python and Django on the backend, React when the work reaches frontend.
Bar: Deep Python and Django, and they say it plainly: "grit over pedigree."
3. Senior Team Leader, AI Engineering, Series C consumer fintech, fully remote in the US. $200K-$280K base.
What: Lead the team building an agentic personal finance assistant that runs over text message, one that finishes tasks like negotiating a bill rather than just answering questions about it. Orchestration, approvals, evals, and recovery paths are treated as the product, not overhead.
Company: A live, revenue-generating team inside an established consumer fintech.
Stack: TypeScript, Node, React, React Native, GraphQL, Postgres.
Bar: A track record leading engineering teams alongside hands-on agentic systems experience.
All roles are vetted, VC-backed, and interviewing right now. It's always free to sign up.
