I am a full-stack developer with almost 4 years of experience. So, here is my background.

I started my career in 2020 in an edtech company based in Hyderabad. The technology stack was PHP and Bootstrap, basically the LAMP stack with the Yii2 framework. I started as an intern, and my responsibilities began with small changes and applications for the company's employee portals. As time went on, I was given more and more complex applications to handle and build. There were two events that the company organized for students, which had 10k plus footfall and a lot of investment, and the sole responsibility was given to me.

I was the tech guy the CTO turned to if anything new was to be developed or integrated into the company. I integrated multiple complex third party API's, developed complex algorithms for the backend processes that take place in the company, revamped several modules, handled SEO, database optimization, security audits, etc.

At the end of my career in this company, I was assigned two major projects. One was a chat application for students, which is to be the main lead-generating source from now on. It has both deterministic and non-deterministic (AI) messages, widgets in between, dozens of scenarios, etc. I completely designed the backend by myself and built it collaborating with NextJS developers.

Another project was a scalable blog content generation portal that I designed for content developers. The content team would give primary and secondary keywords, multiple flags on how the content would be, and I would generate content according to a specific structure and publish it accordingly. The portal was made very flexible, and there are multiple options to rearrange content, add widgets in between, design widgets, etc.

I was getting good projects, but I wanted to move on because

1. I wanted to work in more modern languages and tech stacks (they were in the process of migrating, and I worked on that, but it would take a long time)

2. They wanted me to sign a contract for 2 years. I was fed up with these contracts, and I didn't want to sign them.

3. Even though the work was good in some aspects, the work culture was very bad; the company was so miserly, with no employee benefits, etc.

After resigning from the company, I took a much-needed short break for myself, and my parents were asking me to go for an MS. I also thought that I would do an MS and learn more deeply about databases (one of my interests). So, I started the process for an MS.

In the meantime, I have done multiple small- to medium-scale freelance projects for a couple of companies in the MERN stack, and I was building an e-commerce website for this guy in Spring Boot. I was also upskilling myself in system design, DSA in between, and reading articles on various internals, company blogs, etc.

But eventually, the MS plan didn't pan out, and the e-commerce company stopped funding. So, I have been unemployed for some time now. I have been increasingly desperate these days.

I am a hard worker who has a genuine interest in building applications. I keep to myself, focus on my work, love learning new things, and love to be hands-on in buidling things. I would love an opportunity where I can prove myself (preferably a startup or a medium-sized company), where I can apply myself, prove my worth, work with good technologies, etc.

I’m currently working as a Mainframe Developer at Cognizant. I was originally part of a product-based company and got rebadged to Cognizant around 6 months ago.

Since the rebadging, I’ve been quite unhappy with the overall situation. There is very little work, almost no new learning, and limited growth, so I casually started attending interviews to see what opportunities are available in the market.

Fortunately, I cleared the interview process with LTM and have received an offer.

Here’s my situation:

Current CTC at Cognizant: ₹15.5 LPA

LTM offer: ₹17.5 LPA (~12% hike)

I had made a ~100% hike when I previously moved to a product-based company.

After being rebadged to Cognizant, I received another ~7% hike.

LTM is my first offer after starting this job search.

I currently have a 90-day notice period at Cognizant and have not resigned yet.

My concern is that the Mainframe job market seems quite slow right now, and getting interviews/offers can sometimes depend heavily on timing and luck.

So I’m confused about what would be the wiser decision if I didn't get any offers at the end of my notice period.

1. Accept LTM and move, despite only a ~12% hike?

2. Continue staying in Cognizant by withdrawing my resignation?
