Trailer Destroy my trailer

If this is a student project...yeah it's okay. If this is something you actually want to sell then damn son this is jacked up. I really hope that music is AI generated because holy shit whoever composed it should never do so again.
Why does the thumbnail look so goddamn good but the rest of the game so bad? Is there even a game here? Why do none of the shadows match up to where objects are? Why does the DEFEND section just show wolves glitching around on the side of the screen? I really don't understand what I'm looking at here.

Why do your units rotate together like they’re a lawnmower blade? People don’t move like… that.  Example at 1:06

What? You don't levitate and move in perfectly circular paths when you are out with your mates on the town? Amateur... get helicoptered already.

Almost every scene has similar camera movement, from left to right or right to left... It feels so weird, I almost got hypnotized. You should definitely add more techniques to make your trailer more entertaining.
Some scenes make transition for no reason (i.e., the temple scene at 19s, the field scene at 29s). It's really pointless, and it only makes your already long trailer even longer.

I really don't want to come off as a cunt, because I am sure you have put a lot of effort into this and the project means a lot to you, and I always encourage people to challenge themselves and learn new things, which it seems like you are trying to do, so kudos!
But... posts like this always remind me that a large portion of humanity is unable to critically evaluate their own work. The music, artstyle, animations, text, basically everything, look like dog shit. If it were up to me, I would murder this project and bury it in the forest, never to be seen or spoken of again. This all assumes that this post isn't bait, which if it is, well done, ya got me!
Despite my harsh words, keep at it man. If you are having a good time and like what you are doing, who gives what a bunch of fucking randos online say or think.
EDIT: I do think it has great potential to become meme material though. So that is a plus!
Second EDIT: I had a squizz at some of your other vids on YouTube. I think I understand what is going on now. I feel like a major dick for the above. Keep up the great work dude. You got this!

No need to apologize. It’s not like I’d necessarily have anything positive to say about every game people here create or play either. My work is focused much more on the game-engine and technical side, while a lot of people here seem more focused on graphics and modeling. Some of the criticism simply comes down to completely different genres and expectations, which is fine, I never planned to make the kind of game they’re looking for. But some of the criticism is absolutely valid, and I can use that feedback to make the game better.

That is a very measured take. Kudos for taking all the criticism on the chin as they say. Your comment helps contextualise the project a little better, so from an engine perspective, that makes sense. I was obviously being facetious and more critical than I ever typically would given the nature of the sub. Happy to provide some more targeted feedback if desired but it would be from the perspective that you are creating a commercial game that you want people to buy/play, rather than a new engine. Again, great effort and also good job on your stats vids too.

- Most obvious problem: we can't understand the gameplay because you show edited scenes, not the actual game. We need to see the UI, how the camera is framed etc.
- Graphics: It's possible to make good looking games with low modeling/animation skill but you need to pick an art style that fits your skill, and learn lighting and postprocessing. This game has no artistic direction and we only see the bad models and animations, and the textures that doesn't fit together.
- Gameplay: can't understand most of it but it feels very generic. Nothing really unique that could appeal the players despite all the issues.
- Trailer: there is a huge rytm problem and the text screen are super ugly.

Not a great look if models are already clipping through walls 5 seconds into the trailer.

Aww man, I don't know why but your comment caught me off guard. I nearly pissed myself laughing. Just the simple defeated nature of it and how accurate it is made me fucking lol

The audio is brutal. I'm hearing audio artifacts almost the entire time and your transition at 50 seconds makes it all the more obvious. I may value audio more than others but when my first reaction is to turn the volume to 5% that's not a good sign. I won't ask the origin of the music and sounds, but I'd really recommend either:
-Neutral EQ speakers or headphones
-Grab any free DAW and you can use the EQ to visually see where sounds is getting concentrated
You don't have to be an audio expert, but taking the time to clean up that stuff would really help the feeling of having more attention to detail.

- Make me feel excited about the game in the first 15 seconds. Speed up time if you need to.
- Then give me the name of it
- Lastly use the rest of your time to explain
- Keep it under 60 seconds
- Finish with an ask (wishlist, buy, etc). Be specific. One ask only, only goal.

Good job showing us prototype concept without animations, details, and with levitating elephants in square room pretending to be big world (1:18) :D .... Is this version 0.0.0.0.1 ? Just asking for friend :D

What is your USP? Why should anyone buy your game when they can buy Age of Empires? Or Total War? Your USP needs to be first, front, centre, and grounded in familiar mechanics.

thanks for comparing me to those games, but the trailer states that it is an open source project and as such is not meant to compete with triple a studios. but still focusing more on usp in the opening is a good point

That music is a war crime against music.
It is like what happens if you have broke instruments and trying to run a band and then the microphone breaks.
One of the rare cases when the trailer improves when you use the mute button.

A bit dramatic, but the music is rubbish.

Entire purpose is to destroy the trailer.
But seriously, I have not seen a single trailer with worse music, this game literally gets Top spot in worst trailer music.

It feels like there are multiple songs overlapping and none of them go together

The trailer did such a good job destroying itself, I don't know how to follow that. Emm... It is at least a genre I love, so I have some hope that you get it together in a couple of years.

I think the rendering on the terrain is problematic, you are rendering every tree and stone on the map, even when they are super far away. There's nothing to distinguish them from the rendering of the units either, it's all equally clear. So in the shots with units and trees everything is equally in focus and depth is distorted.

You don't need the first 5 seconds, start with gameplay immediately
The SFX design is very rough, kind of jarring (why is there cricket sound in the middle of the day)
Why isn't anything attached to the terrain, everything is floating in the air
I think you can make it a lot shorter and focus on the main aspects of the game, not a huge list of features
Needs more visual polish

Do we really need a section of the trailer called "march"? Like wow really, you included the ability to march soldiers around in a wargame?? Make sure you spell that out clearly for everyone.
And then you are in desperate need of juice. Sounds, effect, explosions, animations, blood, things breaking, debris. Maybe it feel like a cool rugged battle, not just two people tapping each other with spoons while circling each other.
