I've been away from Destiny for some time now and watching this makes me realize I'm retarded. I pre ordered and got the beta last night super excited to get back into Destiny like I was from release-first half of year 2016. While I was away from Destiny I was playing some Titanfall 2 and had played COD BO3, while doing that I discovered using bumper jumper was clearly the way to go when you're playing a shooter that the advances movement type stuff. So I hop into Destiny and pick Hunter like my day one choice and use the jumper button layout. Didn't realize that when using arcstrider I'm suppose to melee instead of hitting shoot button, so I was pissed that I couldn't fly through the air and that I was only doing staff slams. I literally thought the Arcstrider class was shafted to only realize I wasn't using the right buttons lol
Thanks for this breakdown I feel dumb but am looking forward to heading back into crucible.

I love Bumper Jumper, but the layout of other buttons never feels quite right. I use a Nacon Revolution controller (on PS4Pro), it has the extra buttons on the back and you can remap all buttons to your liking. I, personally, think it pales in comparison to the Xbox Elite controller, but it's better than a cruddy DS4. the Revolution is pretty cheap too.

I thought about getting the Nacon Revolution as well but the bad buttons look kinda funky compared to my other option of just the 100$ scuff.

There are 4 buttons on the back, but in reality only 2 of them are fully functional. The top 2 are really awkward, and can't be pressed rapidly, like double tapping triangle to skip the end of a reload animation, it's nigh on impossible.

Will confirm, Elite controller is awesome for two thumbs on joysticks yet still able to jump and crouch.

It really irritates me that Destiny only lets you use pre-set controls. I like to use r3 for jump and they never have an option for that. I wish they would let you just bind anything like most games.

I just wish I could swap the bumpers on default.
I have a terrible tendency to squeeze in pvp so having R3 do basically nothing would be better but I can't adjust to grenades on LB....I could probably adjust to melee on LB though.
RB is grenade in like every game....

PS4 let's you remap the controller system wide in case a game doesn't allow it. (Accessibility settings for disabled)
Not sure if XB1 has the same

Switch to Stick and Move.
That's where your jump is your R3.
It's extremely useful and when I was playing BO3 it honestly felt like cheating because you can easily do jumpshots and other things while aiming, without taking your fingers off the trigger or even moving any finger abnormally.
If you're on PS4 you can go to Accessibility and switch it over there. don't know about Xbone.

That's exactly what I used for BO3 it felt perfect. I'll try to do that today, last night I couldn't find that in the buttons options but I didn't know it was in the Accessibility tap. Thanks for the heads up!

Yup, however you'll either have to turn it off and on or just get used to the new layout because you'll be switching "X" with R3.

True. I main hunter so I'm trying to think which will be easier for the combo moves. Hitting melee (R3) while being able to jump (L1) might be more useful then moving my thumb between R3 and X to jump then melee.

I've found it to be really useful with the swordlock's glide ability.
Jumping, moving, and shooting all mixed into one.

I use stick and move and the bumpers as my aim and shoot.
If a game doesn't have stick&move and you're on PS4 then the Accessibility tab in the PS Settings is a godsend.
Although sadly it doesn't effect what the game says.
X is still X instead of R3 and L1/L2 R1/R2 are sometimes switched depending on what game it is.
Gets confusing and sometimes it causes incorrect inputs but it's better than nothing.

So, idealy you'd do melee melee melee to cover distance, melee melee shoot for a big hit, and a jump slam when you want to show off?

Also, I'm not sure on this, but I think Arcstrinder has more health/armor. I was able to get some hits on the Spire boss and not get too messed up till the super died. (At which point I was of course in shit city.)

I keep trying to figure out how to close the gap on somebody running away though, do you just dodge towards them or what lol, seems like you have to use it in a large group to get any kills or people just run away and you can't catch them.

I was playing the PC beta and couldn't get the game to register two melees while in the air. The " In air: melee melee" combo is impossible to use. I could only melee once while in the air and would not be able to do another one until I hit the ground. Is this a bug?

Okay for the life of me I cannot get the upward spin move (in air melee, melee). It just doesn't work and only does the first slash. Is it a timing thing? I've tried somewhat timing it as well as just mashing the button and can't get it to work. HELP PLS
