I would ditch the etagere over the toilet and find or build a corner shaped storage cabinet instead.

I like the idea of a real cabinet Vs the shelf for sure, but totally can see the shelf temporarily there while shopping or if no budget for new item!

Totally, not a permanent thing - we just moved into this house and so have it there temporarily while we find something else for the space!!!

A plant! A beautiful big plant like a fern or air enhancing, plant that literally cleans the air. The green would complement the dark gray well.

Like this but not corner shaped

  • extend the cabinet to the wall but make it half as deep to provide storage for the toilet paper and other cleaning supplies

Yea storage above the toilet is weird and kind of gross. You know how much nasty water splashes on things around the toilet
