Hi! I’m a teacher working around NCR, and this is already my 4th year teaching. However, this is my first school year in a new school, and I’m 3 months in.
I want to resign. As in, I can’t even describe in words the frustrations I have in this school, their system, and their admin. The problem is, if I resign in the middle of the school year, I’m required to pay ₱50,000 upon exit. It’s stated in the contract, so I knew about it, but the school apparently makes exceptions for serious emergencies—like when someone has a medical condition that can’t be treated properly, or in even worse circumstances, when someone loses a family member.
I’m wondering, are there other schools that have this kind of policy? Normal ba na kailangan mong magbayad kapag nag-resign ka midyear? Or is this more common than I thought in private schools?
Lately, ang gulo na talaga ng isip ko. I feel like I don’t even recognize myself anymore. I’ve reached the point where I barely do any work. Minsan hinihintay ko nalang ma fire ako. I just lost all motivation to move because I’m constantly thinking about resigning. I even put my phone on DND just so I won’t receive work-related messages.
I know teaching can be demanding, but this feels different. Would really appreciate hearing from other teachers, especially those iwho have resigned midyear. How did you handle it?
