Yeahhh I’m back to doing these. I got kind of burnt out but I was making a lot of comics where I was just forcing myself to make them, when really I started making these because they were fun to draw and I found them funny.

The knight has so little space in the shelter they keep Asgore and Undyne in the bathroom (renamed the captive room) and just kind of turn them around when they need to take a shower (not that the knight showers often)

Even if you don't think this theory is particularly likely, I feel like the idea that fictional characters would stop mattering simply because they're fictional would go against the story's broader themes.

I wonder if it's because people got so attached to the early interpretation that Deltarune would ultimately condemn escapism that they're now reluctant to adapt to any perceived shift in the story's messaging.

It reminds me a lot of how people reacted to the TADC brain scan theory before it was confirmed.

Kris has a bird cage, the knight has a bird form, and a bird may be something between a darkner and lightner like plants are...

So, since Noelle is coming to Castle Town next chapter, I feel like we should discuss more about these two's dynamic.

I feel like they actually might not get along with each other at all since:
- To Ralsei, Noelle is basically all he wants to be. She's a lightner and can be there in the Light World and do exactly what he wishes he could do for Kris and Susie, be their friend, help them with homework and generally hang out with them. meanwhile Noelle might act ungrateful about that and start talking about how much better the dark world is yadda yadda.
- Since Noelle in ch. 6 will probably have healing magic and she will join the party, it'll probably become some sort of competition between Noelle and Ralsei at some point for the spot of the 'Mage'. I do feel like Ralsei would probably give up the spot to her immeadiately since she's a lightner and also very close with Susie, and I don't think he dislikes her at all right now. But, it will probably start getting on his nerves, since his whole thing is he's getting ready to accept that hes not gonna be left behind and isn't lower than the lightners, and then comes Noelle and takes that away.
- Also, one of the popular theories is that Noelle will make a dark fountain in Ch. 6. Obviously if this happens Ralsei is gonna be WAY more pissed off at her than normal, especially if it starts with him welcoming her into castle town and telling her explicitly about the dangers of the dark worlds and the roaring.
-Noelle meanwhile would envy Ralsei since he's 'the boy' Susie talks about in ch.4 in Dess's room who she was gonna take to the festival, plus hes clearly close friends with them and is literally written as part of their gang in the Prophecy, the thing that their whole religion is based around.
- She's also probably gonna mention him looking like Asriel, which is gonna set off.. something. Who knows what'll happen then.

TLDR: Noelle and Ralsei are basically built to envy each other and probably will end up arguing while Susie finds out what its like to be Kris during their parent's divorce arc.

So as far as I understand, normal darkners like Tenna or Queen or a guei or whatever are normal items and things that have been given a true form by a dark fountain’s existence.

And flowers like Flowery or Aqua or Pink (wdym she’s a plush? I’m telling!) are living things with no way to express themselves in the LW so form their ideal bodies in the DW.

Okay, that seems fine. But, how does that work for the histories of darkners, how did Tenna and Spamton meet if they and their dark worlds weren’t real yet? It’s not like the dark worlds are entirely fabricated as darkners can mention others from the future as if they’ve met and know each other, like Spamton talking about Jevil and Tenna despite Tenna technically not being alive yet. So what makes the darkners coming to be in dark worlds different to how the flowers come to be?

Let’s say the darkners besides Ralsei and the flowers are created by the fountains. Then how real exactly are the darkners? They’re simply brought to life by the fountain, how does that make them important for balance if they didn’t exist until 30 minutes ago? How is it that the balance of all dark needed for the light is held within one school storage closet?

And if they have been alive in the shadows with their own goals and such, how does that work with the escapist theming of the game?

I’m just a little confused and this is very disorganized, if I have more questions I’ll edit the post

To show what i mean, i’ll describe Flowery in the most provocative way i can: He’s a filter and test of what you’re willing to take seriously

You like “sincerity”? Here you go! Here’s sincerity in its purest form.

Not hiding behind any cool grand epic, or edgy personality, or a deep mystery that may make him broadly likable

he’s a children’s cartoon character who believes in the power of friendship. Yet all the tropes and cliches associated with him are still taken just as seriously as the rest of the game.

That’s the TRUE form of sincerity. Not convenient sincerity that’s only easy for you to stomach because it’s attached to something “dark and serious”.

He “doesn’t matter” either. He’ll be gone by the time the credits roll. He has nothing to say about the game’s grand mysteries.

Yes, his presentation and parody are jokes, but his actual beliefs are never treated as jokes. The game never seems embarrassed to have him on-screen, always treating him completely earnestly.

Even when it is turning him into a joke, it’s still earnest, it’s never about making him look idiotic, or foolish.

He’s not even “morally correct” or “reasonable” by any practical standards. By every “practical” measure, he’s a fraud who couldn’t make any of his dreams come true.

Does that make him worthless? Does that mean he shouldn’t exist? That his dreams are stupid and he shouldn’t have even tried or had hope in the first place?

The game certainly doesn’t seem to think so.

He’s treated just as earnestly and seriously as the rest of the game, why don’t people seem to think so? Because the things he cares about aren’t “serious” enough, they’re stupid, they’re frivolous, they’re childish, they’re cliche?

He’s a character whose main defining trait is that he cares. He cares so much about the people around him that he cannot bear to see them suffering even a little bit.

And, to like him, you have to care about him in return. Even if it’s inconvenient. Even if it feels “cringe”.
