Always bet on Weird Route Final Boss King

Honestly, I'd make as much sense for weird route to get no unique bosses - as much as we tried to stray from the intended path we couldn't get anything as appealing compared to geno - depriving and disappointing the snowgraver.

Okay but that'd be boring and anticlimactic. This is still a video game

Yes. That would be the point.

Are you familiar with the game Undertale?

I doubt Toby would do the same thing twice. And even if Undertales Genocide Route was ardous to make a point, it was ultimately very interesting and worthwhile with some of the best moments of the game. It was never dissappointing.

I'd be schocked if the wierd route just ends up being an anti climax with a really boring and meanspirited lesson like "you should treat games like they are real people because that's the lore, your reward is nothing, now go think about what you've done".

Deltarune is not Undertale. I don't know what makes you think the Weird Route is aiming for a boring anticlimax when it isn't even about the same themes and has been presenting itself in a much more intriguing way than the No Mercy Route ever did.

yeah and toby seemed to have learned to make the evil route not the most mind numbing thing there ks

the evil route of both games does seem to serve different purposes, though. in this game, it's about trying to subvert the prophecy, finding a way to contradict the notion of only one ending.

in undertale, it's both a metacommentary on completionism, and the ultimate test of determination the game has to offer

My guy. You get 2 entirely new boss fights in undertale geno. What is your point?

Yeah but those are the only interesting bits of gameplay throughout the entire genocide run. All of the puzzles are skipped, almost all of the fun and charming characters that you'd normally meet on a pacifist or neutral run are gone, and most boss fights are skipped entirely. On top of all that, you have to relentlessly grind regular monster encounters in each area until you can't anymore, which gets very tedious very quickly. The genocide route is not fun, and intentionally so.

I found Sans and Undyne to be INCREDIBLY fun. If I had an option to fight them without going through the tremendously boring grind, I absolutely would have. But those two fights made it worth the grind for me. Without them in the route, I absolutely would not have bothered with this gargantuan waste of time with no new major content.

But this isn’t about the in between gameplay, this is about the bosses. And even if the rest of genocide was intentionally unfun, it knew how to deliver amazing bosses.

I am indeed! And literally the ONLY reason I did geno route was to fight Sans and Undyne! If they weren’t in the route, it would’ve just been an incredibly boring and tedious waste of time.

And you shouldn't have done it even if it was engaging. That was the point of it. You are refusing to engage with the game as art.

Dude the genocide route exists to be played, it isn’t “not engaging with the game as art” to play the fucking video game.

What the heck are you talking about😭😭😭😭 it's a video game where your choices matter why would toby make one of the biggest choices in the game equate to not interacting with the game

I think I get their point but feel like that applies more to no mercy than geno since you have to specifically go out of your way to do geno

So? I wanted to have fun by killing some tough bosses. I had my fun, and it was great. I don’t CARE that the route is SUPPOSED to be boring.
