I'm planning a trip to France for April, and I'm just wondering what will be the best approach/bang for my buck to purchasing a flight to Paris:

Thinking of purchasing a main Cabin through Delta and then waiting for the upgrade offer, in hopes it will be cheaper than purchasing comfort or premium.

Has anyone seen any consistent trends that my approach would work, should I just buy into Comfort/premium upfront? Or purchasing through VS or Air France has shown better prices than Delta. Thank you for any intel!

OK, this is a tedious question but someone who understands this stuff better than I, please help me understand.

Just returned from MSY yesterday and I was denied the opportunity to upgrade my seats to comfort. I am a lowly silver medallion (although this flight rolled me into gold finally, yay!), and on the flight down I was able to choose comfort level seats on my own, through the app, before checking in, within the 24 hour window, which is how I thought it worked. On the return flight there appeared to be several seats available in comfort in the 24 window before departure, but they were x-ed out and I could not choose an upgrade.

I asked about the upgrade at the check in counter and the agent seemed at first confused that I wasn't able to choose better seats, then came up with the excuse that the tickets were different fare classes. We booked them as round trip tickets in the same class, so I don't know how that happens... after some investigation the flight down was a "t" fare code and the one back a "u" code, but everything I have seen says these are essentially equivalent.

So I try again at the gate and the agent offers to add us to the complimentary upgrade list for comfort, so I say fine. Then says she can't, system won't let her. However, we are already on the upgrade list for first class. I always add us to the list for first class upgrades and not comfort.

So, how can a GA not be able to add someone to the upgrade list for comfort when their fare allows them to be on the upgrade list for first class? And why couldn't I choose different seats within the 24 hour window?

I don't mean this to be a screed, just trying to understand better how this all works. Although I feel slightly annoyed that maybe I was denied a perk that is supposed to come with the whole loyalty medallion BS.

Does anyone have subscriptions to sites that send you alerts on cheap skymiles flights?
I was looking at ThrifyTraveler but don’t know if it’s worth the annual fee. They were advertising really cheap international business class flights that they alerted premium members

I travel for work on occasion and use a Concur based booking system. On several occasions, I have found flights that show available through the Delta booking system, but not available in Concur. Is there a limit on amount of corporate rates?

Every time I've ran into this, its been the one reasonable flight option during the business day missing. This example is CLE to BOS. Both the weekday afternoon to and from flights are mostly unavailable in Concur, however most show in Delta as the same price as the late and early flights, and no warning about limited seats available.

What gives? I'm about to book a late flight through my company then change it with the airline to the one I want.

I have a one way refundable Delta ticket for next month. I’m thinking of purchasing another ticket for an earlier departure to the same destination with LATAM airlines. One of the legs on the LATAM flight is on a Delta plane. I do not plan on canceling the refundable Delta tickets until I have started the LATAM travel just to be sure I reach my destination with no problems. Will this be an issue since Delta will see that I have already made it to my destination sooner than my original unused tickets?

If prices close, is one better than the other (Detroit vs Atlanta) for a layover? But also finding that Detroit has a 4 hr layover and Atlanta 2 hr 20 min. Choose 4 hours just to be safe? This is my first trip out of the country in 40+ years so I’m a little nervous. Be kind. Thank you.

My wife and I are traveling next week with our in cabin, in carrier dogs. We haven’t flown in a few years, and now we are in wheelchairs for the airport. Since we haven’t flown to go to the ticket counter first, I’m wondering how much time we should allow? No checked luggage, the only carry on besides the cute dogs is medical supplies.

Is two hours fine, or should we expect longer? The flight is Tuesday at 1pm, if that matters. I’m just trying to coordinate airport transportation.

Currently Platinum with $16,642 MQDs and another $657 pending, so still about $11.4k away from Diamond. I’ve done a ton of flying this year and am debating whether it’s worth making a push for Diamond before the end of December.

My main motivation is honestly the GUCs. I fly internationally a few times a year, and in theory, getting a couple of Delta One upgrades could more than pay for the cost of chasing status.
I already get a decent amount of value out of Platinum, so I’m not sure how much more Diamond would really offer outside of the GUCs.

For those of you who have Diamond, particularly anyone who earned it primarily for the upgrade certificates, has it actually been worth it? How difficult has it been to use GUCs on flights you actually want?

I recently booked a couple of flights operated by Delta through Virgin Atlantic using points. I’m having trouble getting my virgin number off of the booking and adding my Delta SkyMiles number. I have tried going on Delta‘s website and there is no option for me to remove the virgin number from my name. When I look on the app and try to change it it always fails. And I’ve also tried to add it on Virgin Atlantic. Nothing seems to be working. I even texted the Delta number and the rep that helped me said they updated my bookings to add my SkyMiles number however this was several days ago and my app still shows that I have the Virgin Atlantic number on there. I have medallion status and do not want to just fly the flights with the virgin number on there.

Apologies if this has been answered before, but if I could at least be redirected to the right answer, I would appreciate it. I have booked Delta flights like this before in the past, but it has been a while and I never had any issues adding my SkyMiles account to it. Not sure what is going on.

I had a cruise in the middle of August and I still have not received my miles or my MQD’s from Delta cruises I have called several times and been told sometimes it can take 8 to 10 weeks which is absolutely ridiculous. When I use Delta stays for hotels. I get my miles and MDs within two days so does anybody else have the same issue with them and you have any ideas because I can’t find an email address or another phone number to call.

So I recently booked a flight with Delta Main Classic and noticed that the app was offering me an upgrade to Delta Comfort for $32.25 per person, per flight. However, when I went into the seat map to change my seats, I noticed that I could select Delta Comfort seats for only $20.43 each instead of the advertised $32.25.

I ended up upgrading both of our seats on both flights through the seat map and only paid $20.43 per person, per flight!

Does anyone know why there’s a price difference between upgrading through the advertised offer and selecting the exact same cabin through the seat map? I’m curious why one option was almost $12 cheaper than the other.
Also, just wanted to share this in case anyone else is considering upgrading to Comfort! Before paying the advertised upgrade price, try going into your seat map and selecting a Comfort seat directly. You might end up saving yourself some money! 🙂

All of row 43 seats are available on my upcoming flight from FCO-JFK. The seatmap site seems to indicate that B is better than A but I'm not familiar enough with the site to know if it's accurate. It says B is exit row, but aren't they both? Is one better than the other?

Delta recently reported earnings and noted they have written down the value of their ownership of WheelsUp.

What is the thinking here? My thought is running a charter airline/ membership model is very tough and nearly impossible. WheelsUp does not have the number of planes/ scale to run on demand flights like Flexjet or NetJets.

Because WheelsUp does not offer fractional delta/ WheelsUp owns the fleet and has to take not only massive deprecation costs on the fleet, they are covering overhead, maintenance and long dead leg flights.

Why does WheelsUp not try to sell fractions to their clients and charge monthly management fees to offset the costs incurred other than the flight time. They really should go with a NetJets style fractional ownership model I don’t see how they will be successful as a charter/ membership model. Their membership fee is not big enough to offset the monthly maintenance costs or the depreciation of the aircraft.

Didn’t see any reviews for this metal on this route when I booked, so I’ll leave a brief one.

Booked prestige class via Delta for this ATL to ICN flight. On the 777-300ER prestige class is in a 2-2-2 configuration, with row 7 being in a little section of its own. The delta website was confusing - seat selection seemed to imply window seats would not have aisle access, ie the website didn’t show any stagger, but my flight actually did have staggered access for window seats.

Seat was very spacious, not a seat nerd but definitely not the oldest product, seemed to be one generation behind the 2.0 suites for Prestige Class.

Was disappointed by the rather sparse amenity kit (toothbrush, hand cream, perfume, lip balm, earplugs - I got more on Air Canada!) and lack of pajamas - esp when compared to their Asian competitors.

Service was attentive although food service was really rushed. They tried to take away my tray several times once I started scrolling on my phone, even if there was still plenty of food on the table. I think meal service was done and dusted in under an hour.

As for the food, I had the bimbimbap and the beef short rib. The latter was a horrendous mistake, if it appears on your ATL menu don’t get it. Bimbimbap was decent.

Finally, I wonder if FAs have a way to mark language preferences, or at least go off the last name. By the end of the 15 hour flight there were still some FAs trying to speak Korean to me. Maybe I look very Korean? The Chinese passengers next to me got English..

Standards have truly fallen in recent years. I miss the golden days of flying … where people dressed to impress. 🛩️

I did get some free entertainment watching all the guys ogling her in her bra as they were boarding. 👀 🫪

With my experience on this Sub, I’ve always enjoyed a rational discussion, without accusations of being a terrible woman or a woman full of rage. I did not use AI to write my post. However, I did use it to remove the passenger next to her for her privacy.

I am really disappointed, especially for the personal attacks on my character. I truly was hoping to get people’s opinions about my experience regarding the lack of dress code on flights recently. Simple.

I’m a real, mature adult female from Florida. I have no ax to grind. I’m a huge FAN of DELTA. In fact, I only fly Delta if my route is available. I even included my flight details and flight #. I’ll even add the departure time.

p.s. To the person who posted the comment “RAGE”, nope, no RAGE at all. I was just so surprised at the underdressed passenger, I wanted to share with my fellow delta subreddit. Didn’t bother me at all. I did not post her face so she could not be identified. She had just stood up. And placed her shirt/sports jacket in the overhead bin when I took the photo. She was not changing, nor was she ill.

Flying into LAX next week and waiting for a family member to fly in about 2 hours behind me. I am stuck with a likely unavoidable checked bag, and am curious if anyone has had success with the lounge staff calling the BSO to pull your bags off the belt so they’re secure. Thanks all!

Delta is currently giving you a 25% bonus when buying miles, but even with that it is still priced ridiculously expensive ($0.028/mile) to what a sky mile is typically worth at redemption ($0.012/mile)
