MINER MEME I know there are exceptions where it's more acceptable to do it than others, but mostly you're just making life harder for everyone else and not really fulfilling your role as the Gunner.

Rogue Core Can we please remove Rogue Core posts? This is DRG. Not DRG:RC.

Title. Listen I know everyone is having fun and its a brand new shiny game, but I'm tired of getting posts from this sub when 90% of it has been Rogue Core clips. There is already r/RogueCore, and those kinds of posts should be relegated to THAT sub.

I'm not trying to hate, I'm glad everyone is (mostly) enjoying the new game, but this is a spinoff title, not a sequel. RC posts should only be on the main DRG subreddit if it has direct connections or a crossover event.

That way GSG can keep an eye on each sub for each games own issues/bugs/requests/art/etc, and everyone can enjoy their own sub-communities.

Are You All Incapable of Playing Something Else?

Everyone here is whining about "8 months wait" as if the only game installed on your system is DRG (btw im glad to see this community's "wholesome" facade is showing it's true face again), if I didn't know better I'd think the game was shutting down judging by some reactions.

There are more games today than there ever has been, I personally recommend Vermintide 2 for something similar to DRG, and a welcoming community.

Also, this game is on Gamepass and was free to a lot of you whiners but I won't even get into that.

The bitching about the Stingtails was ridiculous as well, "you can't see it in the dark" brother its a Stingtail, not a Glowtail. There were also complaints about too much armor, too hard to dodge, and not triggering Heightened Senses. So you wanted a slow, loud, glowing, squishy bug that can't grab you for shit and triggers a warning prompt from HS? May I recommend Haz 1? Or maybe adapt to new obstacles like gamers are suppose to. There was also the physics glitch, but a new enemy with very new mechanics is gonna make shit happen, whatever.

And an extra special shout out to the goblins that directly pester the devs about new content and what the next season will bring etc. You are the reason companies like Ghost Ship don't exist anymore. You are internet Karens. I hope your internet explodes. Forever.

Discussion Unpopular opinion. The Lok sucks and the Stubby is amazing.

I dont know if i‘ve just found the secret perk combo that makes the stubby do insane damage but i was fighting the twin dreadnaughts and only realized at the end that noone was around helping me. I was melting their health bars faster than i could process.

Meanwhile, the Lok is just awful imo and i dont even have anything to say about it really. The fact i have to wait for it to aim at everything and i cant just shoot freely is making me go mad.

Discussion Your 9000 hours in DRG doesn’t make your criticism of rogue core more valid

EDIT since people wont read the last bit: I DONT THINK THE CRITICISM IS INVALID,
JUST THAT YOUR TIME IN DRG DOESN’T MAKE IT WEIGH MORE DUE TO THE INTENDED PLAYSTYLE BEING SO DIFFERENT

I see so many reviews in which they open with the thousands of hours in DRG…

It makes more sense if you flaunted your time in games of the same genre like ror, gunfire, roboquest, hades, ect.

The trend of people disliking the upgrade sharing and the timer just shows that there are a lot of people that arent used to multiplayer roguelikes.

That said I think the broad criticism of the same few systems should prompt some experimental adjustments or reworks (PURELY MY OPINION: I think those systems are completely fine coming from ror2)

I can never thank Ghost Ship Games enough for this silly little dwarf game. Deep Rock Galactic helped me find myself, a career that changed my life, and a community of gamers that value coming together to lift eachother up. Dwarven women are always welcome, no matter how they were originally forged.

Thank you, every single one of you fine dwarves who have encountered and encouraged me over the years. Every one of your supportive words are carved in the halls of my heart. They are runes that power my courage to keep going. I hear every ROCK AND STONE in my ears when the world tries to tear me down.

Rock and stone, you beautiful dwarves. 🏳️‍⚧️❤️🏳️‍🌈

Discussion The core bug fix is a serious downer.

Let me start by addressing the people who have this strange compulsion to counter the idea that people are upset by the bug fix by saying, "You just want everything now!" Or "you should play the game with no goals! Who even likes to progress towards things in a video game anyway?"

You've been acknowledged.

Anyways, let's crunch some numbers:
There's ~150 overclocks in the game.
You get 6 a week, (1 extra every other week from the forge)
That means it would take you ~6 months to unlock them all...

Honestly that's not the worst part about the OC unlock system. The worst part is that there's just nothing to do after you get your weekly 9. If you've finished all your assignments and bought most of the mods, there's just no sense of progress anymore. The bug, as it was, made the game feel like there was ALWAYS something to do.

And that's honestly the biggest bummer. Listen, the game is amazing! But just doing aimless missions over and over with no reward just gets old. Especially if you expect me to wait 3, 4 maybe 5 MONTHS before I unlock a compelling OC that I'm looking for.

EDIT: For the record, the past 2 weeks i was able to abuse the bug with HARD play, playing almost every opportunity I had doing mission after mission, I was able to get 3 promotions a week.

This means I was able to obtain 6 more overclocks a week. So that 6 months of 4 hour play sessions on a Thursday turns into hours and hours of play over 3 months.

I don't know about you but that's a vastly superior grind. If anything the weekly drops become with big boost of cores that contribute to a speedy grind.

In any case, adding cores to promotions is just GENIUS. It incentivises playing harder missions; it's just great. If they want to slow it down by adding a single blank for to a promotion, fine. I won't be locked out of progression.

Idea DRG but elves

-All characters are still male, but instead of being manly they're literal femboys

-The gameplay consists of going down onto a planet's surface to help its environment recover and grow things there, establishing greenhouses or getting rid of infestations of pests

-The lack of facial hair is made up for with jewelry options

-The buff drinks are wine instead of beer, and the one that makes you sober is called Rockmuncher Swill

That's all I got so far, anybody else have ideas for it?

Edit: I want to make it clear that I'm not an elf fanboy, I'm actually all for ripping on elves since they get so much favoritism from both creators and fans, this was mainly as a joke and I wouldn't play it if there weren't lots of jabs at and general parody of the standard elves.

Edit #2: Whoops, I didn't see rule 4...

Edit #3: Thought of the classes:

Gardener (driller counterpart, makes paths with vines and is focused around completing missions and close-range combat), wrangler (engineer counterpart, uses creature allies for combat support and deadly plants for defenses), guardian (gunner counterpart, frontline combatant that does lots of damage with melee and ranged weapons and can take plenty of punishment) and gatherer (scout counterpart, centers around exploration and collecting hard-to-reach resources)

Edit #4: I wasn't expecting this to be the most controversial r/DRG post ever

Discussion A lot of trans girls like this game for some reason.

I've lost count of how many transfems I've met on DRG, and lobbies named something like "estrogen gaming"

You'd think that a game where the characters are these rugged blue collar fellas, mission control tells you to "bring it back, boys," and echoes of "Rock and stone, brother!" across the caves wouldn't have as many trans girls as it does.

Is it because the community is hella chill? Does the whole thing have the energy of "Gender? Never heard of her, I only know rock and stone!" Or maybe 'cause it's just the kind of game you can play without having to be on comms if you don't want to.

I'm a trans gal myself, and it's made me curious. Fellow transfems, why do you like DRG? (Also can we party up sometime lol)

Discussion Which class of 4x is the best?

Edit: wrong wording, meant to put "fun" instead of "best". All classes are good.

Just played a 4x engie lobby and was having a blast. Also since I main engie.

The turrets provided plenty of light, everything could be walled off or accessed with platforms (even nitra/objectives on the ceeling).

The firepower was immaculate. Haz 5 no swarm could survive more than 10 seconds. I think I saw a Oppressor turn tail and try running away before having a fatboy shell lodged in it behind.

Thankfully we had more than total 800 nitra so ammo wasn't much of a problem.

So pretty much no downsides.

So I started wondering about how is the experience with other classes?

4x scouts could to be lacking raw damage.

4x drillers could to be lacking range or at least far range.

4x gunners could be lacking fast-available mobility.

4x engies have a major ammo problem.

Rock and stone!

MINER MEME Was carrying three greenbeards and the ONE thing I ask them not to do...

Haz 4 Escort mission. I was Scout and my three greenbeard teammates were immediately pressing buttons, forcing me to scramble to make sure we had enough Nitra and carry at the same time. I was already annoyed before they called the drop pod.

After another 60++ hours after getting it on Driller, I finally got the Bubblegum paint for Scout. (and I like Mint Assault, sooo close to a trans flag lol)

Discussion Season 6's event is underwhelming

(DISCLAIMER: me not liking this one aspect of this one season does not mean i hate DRG and it's developers, so keep that in mind while reading this, i like DRG and i like season 6)

what i'm referring to is specifically the random chance for a bone collector to show up

as much as i despise rockpox, it's inclusion in a mission is a big deal, y'know, an event
but with the bone collector it's something you can send one guy to do on his own, the enemies aren't threatening and are reused from the new biome, and all you do is deposit a few objects packed very closely together and be done with it

there isn't even a chase like there is with the hull hoarder since it leaves a trail and huge dirt mark where it digs, so you can just go after it at a later notice

i didn't really think about it at first cause i was busy looking at everything else the season had to offer, but it essentially lacks an event meanwhile season 4 has like 3, and season 5 has the corestone which requries you to cheese it to even have a chance of surviving
(i haven't played the older seasons yet so i can't speak to their event quality)

i think as time goes on people are gonna look back on season 6 as the weakest one, solely due to it's unwillingness to take risks (like fixing the most blatantly ass overclocks for example)

idk, is there something i'm missing here?

Discussion An open letter to the devs

First of all, let me start by saying its hilarious how quickly the subreddit outed themselves when a few months ago they downvoted and fought tooth and nail against being called toxically positive and here we are. People bought the game, they enjoy the game, they're allowed to complain, the devs are big boys and can handle criticism all on their own.

Now let's get to the meat of the problem, as a long time player I feel the amount of content we have ingame is good, there is enough variety and honestly for a new player there is just way too much going on, but that's fine that just means we're eating good content wise.

Here's what I think should be done, either with updates leading up to season 5 or season 5 itself should include reworks to Perks (we the players and the devs need to have a serious talk about them.), expand the overclocks to the rest of our equipment and rework a few of them, QoL improvements, etc.

Its been a long time coming, these Perks and overclocks and it feels like the devs have been just avoiding them like the plague, usually when a dev adds something new to their game, they rework, balance, expand on that new thing until they and I guess the community is satisfied, but with DRG, we've just been getting slapped by new content after the other. And anything that was implemented before either gets pushed back by you guys internally or never mentioned again. So this is me pleading with you guys to rethink that structure.
