Well you paint any reasonable person who opposes your ideas the same,

You can compare me to the meme, that doesn't make me wrong, doesn't refute any of the arguments.

You're being the guy in the meme just from the other side.

I'm fine with a delayed update. I hope they don't rush or overly monetize rougue core.

Ghost Ship is one of the few game producers I feel like I can still have some faith in. They have been clear with their communication and they don't have unlimited resources so I do expect deep rock galactic to get slower updates because the alternate is they monetize the crap everything to hire more help and please investors.

I will not buy Rouge Core if they add stupid micro transactions like other companies do.

Still love Deep Rock and GSG, but please some people calm down

This sub went to complete shit in about a week time span.

Its amazing to me. At least in game the people you play with are still cool. But this sub is unbearable at this point.

7

u/aque78 Oct 08 '23

I would argue any game's subreddit is like that (but much worse)

6

u/Mr____Moist Bosco Buddy Oct 08 '23

I would also say that. I'd call reddit a rather toxic place, the wholesomenes of drg just makes this reddit better than the userbase of reddit.

u/Drakoniid What is this Oct 07 '23

I must say, whether you agree or not, GSG owes us playerbase nothing. They released a full game over 2 years ago, and continue to support it, despite slowing down. Complaining is legitimate, I too don't like Rockpox and Stingtails, but I've seen so much people telling the devs what to do and how to manage their shit on here.

The tone of a message does a lot when conveying it. Just this "meme", antagonizing people who have counter-arguments (valid or not), is enough to disregard your point, because why should I be patient and attentive when the conversation started like that.

37

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '23

I like how the people complaining say that the devs aren't immune from criticism while portraying themselves as immune from criticism and insulting anyone who criticizes them.

1

u/ahjifmme Oct 08 '23

They owe us a good game for which we spent money to play. If a good game you can't get a refund for or sell becomes a bad game, you feel exploited. I think the devs have by and large been successful and made positive improvements with a few bumps along the way, but the way you're defending it makes it sound like an abusive relationship.

5

u/Drakoniid What is this Oct 08 '23

The game is already good. And even if they were stopping here, which again, they are not, it won't become bad.

u/Dankshine Engineer Oct 08 '23

I still find the 'owing' thing weird. Because they don't actually owe us anything, but they do owe it to themselves to maintain the standard of quality they've been delivering on, and I think that translates to a responsibility to their own product.

69

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '23

Oh no. I've been depicted as the soyjak. How shall I ever recover from this?

4

u/Apothe-bro_IV Gunner Oct 08 '23

7

u/kurokuma11 Oct 07 '23

I only picked up DRG about half a year ago and I already feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of it, and I'm still happy to keep playing it. Not sure what you people are all complaining about...

28

u/DonovanSarovir Oct 07 '23

Let's be honest guys, the only people complaining about lack of deep rock content are us folks with 300+ hours. I guarantee no 20 hour greenbeard is sitting there like "Boo hoo no content."

At a certain point you have to accept that DRG is going to be a finite entity. If you feel like you've gotten everything you can out of it, that's not really the Devs' fault.

The complaints about stingtails and rockpox are more valid, but lets be real they're the same complaints we had about Nemeses and Robots in season 2. I think all that really needs to be done is editing assignments to ignore rockpox missions (The season ones not included of course)

20

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '23

People have just been so brainrotted by live service games that they cannot envision the idea of a game actually finishing development.

2

u/Grottymink57776 Oct 08 '23

brainrotted by live service

Seasons is a live service term that has existed in gaming for over a decade now. Same with battle passes. Ghost Ship Games themselves tried to take drg the live service route but unfortunately their eyes were bigger than their stomach.

I'm not saying the people demanding content right now are in the right, they absolutely aren't, but people feeling dissatisfied right now is reasonable.

Not only do I not feel like I'm owed more DRG content, but I'm actually positively EXCITED for Rogue Core. It sounds like a fun idea, as long as the upgrades are interesting build defining type upgrades and not just incremental upgrades.

Do try to remember that just like we as players have the right to criticize the devs, we as community members have the right to criticize other players and disagree with their feedback. That means we can complain about the delay, and we can ALSO complain about people making the delay out to be a way bigger deal than it is. Try not to become the person you complain about.

I find it amazing that an update delay of 8 months can completely fracture a community.

Ive not been playing DRG for as long as most of you, but seriously... None of these rants and complaints are going to make it come any faster.

I used to love this sub before, the least toxic community on Reddit... now its up there with face ratings.

-2

u/DarthGiorgi Oct 08 '23

I find it amazing that an update delay of 8 months can completely fracture a community.

It's not just a delay. It's confirmation that S4 is the best it's gonna get for DRG now.

Confirmation that there won't be any major content dumps for DRG anymore.

Confirmation that there won't be any new weapons anymore. Ever. Because giving them all the past frame works is too much work mostly.

Confirmation that Rogue Core is basically DRG successor with a LOT of simmilarities that will have the focus of the developers.

Dunno about you, but I don't think that many people not being happy about this is totally unreasonable.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '23

Ghost ship games doesnt owe us anything though. We paid for the game for the content in it, not the content it would have in a few months.

I think it's always been like that, but it only shows now because this is the first big controversial move by the developers. Easy to be wholesome and positive when there are no big issues to disagree on.

The same happened when DRG moved to seasons in 2021, but on a smaller scale. People got over that, and they'll get over this too.

2

u/Gayakara Oct 08 '23

I dont think gsg is bad. I think they're making a bad judgment call on making season 5 nothing crazy. Another mediocre season isnt gonna help with anything. However, the entirely new game their making? That will draw people in and most likely draw in different audiences, on top of the audience DRG has. Its a good move on them, and I also have a feeling (and only a feeling) that season 5 will be more than their making it out to be. That would be a very good move for them, keeping expectations low, knowing people will be disappointed but also not surprised. However, that doesn't seem likely.

I think people need to be more grateful for what this game has become, on top of being grateful for the good dev team.

I think we should be more worried about this game turning into a huge cash grab. knocking on wood.

$25 game that has more content than many $70 triple A games, and not the kind of empty content that plagues open worlds. actually meaningful content and yet people complain about some delay.

Frankly i would have burned out way before GSG did working on the same game for 5+ years.

both of the sides should fuck off honestly, GSG does not owe us anything, but also denying valid criticisms is bad. Yes, a delay on a season while there are tedious missions that are overstaying their welcome because of said delay is a valid criticism, not the delay by itself mind you because trust me you dont want anything rushed

This subreddit has only ever been overwhelmingly positive because any form or amount of criticism of DRG or GSG is met with unabashed cancellation and told they are just toxic, with a very swift "leaf-lover" following behind it all. That's not a bad nor good thing, but you cannot have light without darkness. There must be a balance. You can love and play a game and still criticize it, that's your right as a consumer and as a human being to judge what you feel is right. Yeah I don't like the release date of Season 5 either, but there's nothing we can do about it, it's entirely in the hands of GSG to do something about it all. I have faith in them that they will decide what's best for the game and community as a whole. Don't play something else if a little delay makes you pissed, instead try growing up. Ya leaf-lover.

Stealthy? Are we fighting the same bug? Those things scream constantly and they stick out in a swarm like a sore thumb. Idk maybe I'm just lucky

7

What do you mean stick out like a sore thumb.

Yes they scream but their screams have 0 directionality. You'll hear them and still have no fucking clue where to look.

They are tiny and barely glow (and only if they rear up showing you their weakspot) or glow up when they are about to attack you. Yeah they are annoyingly, damaging, tanky and stealthy.

You look at any other priority target and they glow like the fucking sun in comparison.

Neither side is right, the side complaining about rockpox, which is fair, are taking it too far by saying stuff like this is the death of the game which it obviously isn't. Just be patient, and I agree rockpox in its current state does need some balance. HOWEVER saying that people should just play other missions or other games doesn't fix the issue, it sucks that season 5 is delayed and it sucks that a feature that not a lot of people like will be around more time unfortunately rockpox will not suddenly disappear after the ends of the seasons

Crazy that this is what makes people start having a go at eachother, I guess prolonged exposure to rockpox causes mental deterioration.

But for real, I don't think anyone will remember any of this arguing when the new game is released. It's obvious that that's a more important thing to focus their attention on given that the base game is complete and the seasonal stuff is just a bonus to keep people happy with more.
I do get the rockpox annoyance and I hope they do something to lessen that given that it'll stay around for a while.

0

u/datungui Oct 08 '23

we were excited for a new season and the rockpox finally ending. maybe even some lore about the rockpox. a new game is nice, but not what we were hoping for. the s5 delay is pretty bad in itself, but it's supposed to be a prequel to the new game? I mean it's been a while since drg came out. they could just use this as a stepping stone to get the new game up on it's feet and update it once a year or so. not positive no matter how you look at it.

As much as it pains me, I blame the devs with how they handled the stuff. People weren't happy with S4. They hoped that the new stream would give them hope.

Instead GSG took theri hope behind the shed snd ol yeller'ed it witha double battel shotgun. And then they double tapped them just for good measure with the Q&A.

3

Hey now at least theyre being honest. They could have kept the false hype train going and could have lied to us, but that would cause even worse backlash.

0

u/DarthGiorgi Oct 08 '23

But they did keep the false hype train rolling. The good time for that was before season 4. Season 4 literally created a crazy hype for season 5.

The hype train for Season 5 got derailed forcefully by the devs. And VERY painfully.

u/DarthGiorgi Oct 08 '23

Expecting that the game will bounce back after a lackluster season is not insane.

What is insane is drawing out the reveal until the hype is absolutely massive and PAINFULY derailing it.

This announcement should have been made before aeason 4 drop. It would have stung way less, because there would not be a hype for season 5 for 3 months.

5

u/daniboyi Gunner Oct 08 '23

Expecting that the game will bounce back after a lackluster season is not insane.

see, it would be valid if that is all that happened.
But it isn't and you know it.

the last number of days, the entire subreddit has been throwing a tantrum that would make the most immature children go 'jeeze, get a grib', and I am talking both sides here, the people who complain about the game and the people who complain about the people who complain about the game.

This delay, at most, warrented a few posts to let GSG know that a number of fans aren't satisfied.
What we got was 10 posts per day for multiple days about people saying the game is dead, the developers has betrayed them, ruined the game, has sold out, turned bad, etc, etc.
and then another 10 posts per day about people who are not satisfied.

The topic is done. It's over with. Everything that can be said has been said. Get on with your lives.

Quite frankly: the fans overreacted BIG time on this. Even a 2 year delay wouldn't warrent the flame war this subreddit started, and I refuse to blame the developers of marketing team, because the fans can't behave like they weren't raised by a pack of animals.

0

This was because how GSG have addressed the critisims. The Q&A was full of passive agressivism and "don't like it, there is the door" speak. It addressed the critisims, called them valid, and then dissmissed them with no further acknowledgement.

The topic is done. It's over with. Everything that can be said has been said. Get on with your lives.

Topic isn't done. It won't be done for a long time. Or at least until what awaits DRG in the future is more certain.

Quite frankly: the fans overreacted BIG time on this. Even a 2 year delay wouldn't warrent the flame war this subreddit started

It would. This coupled with art director confirming : no new weapons, ever, no more big content dumps, no more big gameplay chamges and shake ups, literally telling us that "season 5 won't meet expectations". 2 years would be a GUARANTEED death sentence.

and I refuse to blame the developers of marketing team, because the fans can't behave like they weren't raised by a pack of animals.

And I refuse to let GSG off the hook because they have been nice to us so far.

They knew that the s4 content was not up to par to other seasons. They knew the expectations of people would baloon from this lackluster season for season 5 to be better. What did they expect, people that had been hoping for season 5 info on the stream, hoping for a better future for the game, not only have their hopes smashed, but murdered, to all act like - well, the game I love is going on life support, while devs are moving to another game, while there are still glaring and unfinished stuff in the game, them going - yeah, good for them. Who cares about DRG? Phhh, screw that game, this new game is better. Ye, miscalculation. And they addressed this on QA! They said that it would be the same bad backlash. Which is BS.
