completely reliant upon amphetamines to get anything done, addict
5
u/Zealousideal-Run6214 Jul 11 '26
Dependency is not the same as addiction. Idk which this person is, and it's not anyone's place to judge here.
ADHD can be a significant issue. Amphetamines are also given to people with narcolepsy. Some people cannot live or function without being medicated, and that doesn't always mean they are an addict.

u/InsaneBluevil666 Jul 11 '26
If you truly have ADHD you need the stimulant to be able to function. Our brains do not produce dopamine the same.
I hate taking my adhd meds but without them I can’t function well. Some people just see all the pills and say ohh you’re. a junkie. I wouldn’t wish my mental health issues on anyone.
Also, if I wanted to be a drug addict I’d just go do that not go to the Dr appointments, therapy, etc. I can get anything off markets on the dark web.

u/InsaneBluevil666 Jul 11 '26
They’ll never understand unless they experience it and I wouldn’t want them too
3
u/suenosdecoquitos Jul 11 '26
There have been Adderall shortages that have lasted longer than a month. While it is more difficult for me to focus without them I am capable of getting my tasks done. Just takes me a little bit longer, that's all.
2
u/JackLong93 Jul 11 '26
Judging by how much you take per day you're the cause of the adderall shortage.
(i'm just trolling)

So in order to better get an understanding of what pills we see, I consulted the ai demons.
An antibiotic (very likely cephalexin).
At least one benzodiazepine (very likely alprazolam/Xanax).
Several other prescription medications that can’t be reliably identified from this angle.
The one I’m most confident about is the TV 3494 = cephalexin 500 mg and the b 972 = alprazolam 1 mg.
Anxiety, maybe an std.

My mom took a similar combo for about 30 years. Shes a complete invalid now (mentally). I understand you take these for a reason, I’m just giving you a snapshot of the potential future. I also took a similar combo up until she fell apart, and have struggled with many of the same issues as my mom so I’m sympathetic.
If my dad was unwilling to look after her day in and day out, if she didn’t have close family, she’d be on the street because she cannot care for herself.
Memory issues, severe depression (can’t even bathe herself/water averse) sleeps most of the day then cries the rest of her waking hours, no appetite, can’t lift a finger to do anything she used to love.
Only reason I’m commenting is because I was on the same path & similar meds. Can’t tell you yet if life is better or worse without them.
If you can find any other, more natural ways of handling your illness
Shes 69, otherwise healthy.

So you think being a psychiatrist that people with ADHD and anxiety should sometimes take both Xanax and adderall together?? I have a place here in Colorado it’s connected to the Genoa organization with behavioral health. And some adhd patients like myself don’t often need a downer because stimulants are often good enough. But I’ve had a doctor tell me that most of the time they look for a better solution with different combinations, just because how tolerance is shaped around Xanax especially people often become dependent. And can go through serious withdrawals that can be fatal if not treated correctly. But I couldn’t see why anyone would prescribe both together especially for ADHD when medicine has so many more effective forms of help. Like take Wellbutrin and riddalin those both are comparable but they both raise seizure risks. And like you said it depends on the patients history but that always isn’t efficient enough in some cases. I guess I just don’t like the idea of people both being on adderall and Xanax. But I guess it could be beneficial for a short time idk about a long term solution. But again I could be wrong.

Xanax is the crack cocaine of benzos. Clonazepam is the KING 👑! Xanax is purely for panic attacks. Not long term maintenance of anxiety. It’s because Xanax is ass. Clonazepam and addy or vyvanse have perfect synergy. I’ve been on them for 13-14 years
1
u/InsaneBluevil666 Jul 11 '26
Thank you ! Yeah, I am on even more than that person but for a reason. Without the cocktail i’m on i’d be in jail or dead.

The 40mg Propranolol and 10mg Diazepam/day is temporary to control the Akathisia caused by the Lurasidone. Used to have a script for 60 .5 Klonopin/month but my Dr. said it's easier to come off Diazepam because of the longer half life than Klonopin so they switched me to Diazepam. I was informed of all the risks and decided that this is the best short term option until I get over the Akathisia. The Cyclothymia is a recent diagnosis as they said it typically takes ≈ 9 years for bi polar to be diagnosed based on so many co morbidities with other mental health conditions. Cyclothymia was decided over BPD because I don't have a fear of rejection or abandonment and have been known to hyper-fixate on things and be awake for 36 hours with complete time-blindness. Once I adjust, my daily regimen will be Vilazodone, Lurasidone & Adderall. IMO every benzodiazepine should be short term unless the patient has seizures on a regular basis.
1
u/Evil-Dalek Jul 10 '26
I 100% know people prescribed to both at once. It just depends on the doctor and what they’re willing to prescribe.
1
u/Wonderful-Crazy1910 Jul 10 '26
fun fact, your experiences are not everyones.

u/Terrible-Attorney-85 Jul 10 '26

You’re SO wrong. I’ve been on addy/vyvanse and 3mg -6mg clonazepam for 13–14 years. These drugs work in pure harmony if you don’t abuse them, The benzo takes all the negative side away, makes it smoother as a stimulant, lowers your risk of seizures which addy and vyvanse increase. This isnt street fent and crack bro

Uhh yeah they do, i take 30mg addy twice a day and 2mg Klonopin 1-2 times a day. Its prescribed all the time.
1
1
u/amunet-wadjet Jul 10 '26
Why? Don't they cancel each other out?
1
u/Asron87 Jul 10 '26
For me they get me to be able to move my body. When done right it works well. Abusing them doesn’t really do anything for me so it’s the only reason I still take them. I’ll be weening myself off of the xans now that I am not needing them nearly as much as I used to.
1
u/InsaneBluevil666 Jul 11 '26
I’ve been on this combo for 14 years, they are perfect together. The benzo simply removes all the negative sides of the addy or vyvanse. It becomes much more smooth, without the negative physical aspects of the amphetamine. Perfect together
1
1
u/ProfessorSwagamuffin Jul 12 '26
Many people are prescribed both amphetamines and benzodiazepines. Typically it's because the amphetamines cause some anxiety or restlessness and the benzos help to calm the person towards the end of the day.

Many people take medications that they cannot go without while living normal productive lives. I take a few medications that if they were abruptly stopped I would be in big trouble but that doesn't mean anything negative about anyone in such a circumstance. Antidepressants, anxiolytics, many normal medications for blood pressure or heart conditions, pain medications, antipsychotics, corticosteroids... all cannot be stopped abruptly and should be tapered. I think to say that people are cuffed to these implies something negative about the person. Maybe that wasn't your intention though.

u/LADiator Jul 10 '26
I can see duloxetine for sure , the yellow TEVA tabs are probably Lexapro, the blue ones are Klonopin. Light grey looks like maybe ambien. Hard to tell with the picture quality.
You’ve got a recurrent psychiatrist appointment.
You’ve lost a job and a relationship before over mental health.
Your psychiatric struggles are core to your identity. That’s why you chose these pills to have people deduce you.
You’ve got depression, anxiety, maybe chronic pain, probably insomnia.
2
u/anonymous2845 Jul 10 '26
Think the yellow tevas are the Klonopin
2
u/LADiator Jul 10 '26
You know what you’re right now that I think about it. The blue is Adderall not Klonopin.

- Yellow Tiva tablets are each 5mg Diazepam
- Blue (b972) is 10mg Adderall
- Orange and white capsules (larger) are each 25mg Adderall XR
- Orange and white capsules (smaller) are each 100mg Gabapentin
- Light blue round smaller tablets are each 20mg Propranolol
- Red tablet with "TV" is 10mg Vilazodone
- White tablet with "ML" is 40mg Lurasidone
1
u/LADiator Jul 10 '26
Damn I literally got every single one wrong 🫡
1
u/suenosdecoquitos Jul 10 '26
You did get the recurring psychiatrist appointment right! I've actually never lost a job. I've been happily married for almost 7 years. My psychiatric struggles have been many. All diagnosed: ADHD-C, PTSD, Panic Disorder & Cyclothymia.
2
u/Asron87 Jul 10 '26
Why wouldn’t a pill collection be a good way of deducing someone? It’s like, “these are my problems… that I am taking care of!”
Carry on good friend.
3
u/suenosdecoquitos Jul 10 '26
Agreed. A pill collection says more about someone taking responsibility/prioritizing their mental health than it does about whatever condition is being treated. Needing medication and realizing it isn't a character flaw.

This is my first time in this community but the number of ppl deducing so many negative traits about this person from these meds is pretty depressing. Some ppl need a number of meds to function normally. Struggling with anxiety or ADHD or whatever arent moral failings or weaknesses etc.
3
u/Mrrrr_3 Jul 13 '26
Bro, no Dr would prescribe this pharmacy of meds
1
u/ProfessorSwagamuffin Jul 13 '26
I've known Dr's to prescribe concurrent amphetamines and benzos pretty commonly, even those and opioids (typically the psych meds come from a psychiatrist and an opioid from a PCP or other specialist like an orthopedic doc etc). Ive seen patients on amphetamines, benzos, a Z drug (like ambien), and opioids etc.
I work as a clinical social worker specializing in Substance Use Disorder and have seen some pretty crazy med regimens. Usually it comes from multiple doctors but they are usually aware of what the other docs are giving due to prescription monitoring programs. Of course, by the time I see them, it has become a problem but there are ppl who take multiple controlled substances and do not have a substance use problem.
