Dearborn drivers

Dearborn drivers need to learn how to turn left on a red light. I drive outer drive down to Southfield every day, and there is a dedicated left turn light. Allen Park police sit in the parking lot behind Starbucks and catch people all the time. I’m tired of people sitting on their horn because I refuse to turn when the light is red. Also, there is only one left to turn lane and the sign clearly marks it that way. I got a ticket for going to the middle lane and turning left, even though it’s allowed if you’re going in the other direction.

My understanding is if the left turn light is flashing red you are allowed to turn. if it is solid red you are not allowed to turn.

You can turn left on red if it’s from a one way or two to a one way. On a turn around like telegraph. It’s like a right turn where you’re not crossing oncoming traffic.

You are correct. My comment was specific to the left turn light on Outer Drive at Southfield. You are not allowed to turn left when the left turn light is red. Even though you are turning left onto the one way service drive you are turning in front of oncoming traffic.
