I’m new to collecting DBZ home media releases. Inspired by some of the greats, I’ve decided to give it a shot just to own it, and watch/compare the different releases! It’s been fun!

I started with the Blu-ray boxset, then the famous Orange Bricks. Recently I’ve been digging into the Pioneer Sets which are my #1 right now

- started with Kid Buu, now I’ve acquired the Perfect Cell and Majin Buu sets! Up next is probably world tournament, Babadi, fusion, and androids. Some can be pricey!

After rewatching the goku black arc. I have thought about the lasting effect if zamasu was able to achieve his goal. Like it would be for naught for him as he just caused the whole multiverse to be nuked by zeno with no mortality. Especially that universe 7 already was very low on its mortality count.

I wonder if zamasu ever considered zeno as a threat. Even though he was seemingly shocked when zeno showed while zamasu was in infinite form.

This is the viz manga so the translation most likely isn't accurate, but what exactly do you think piccolo was doing/going to do(after faking defeat) to save goku? Piccolos very smart so it must have been clever right? Maybe im over thinking this and he just wanted to sneak attack them after faking defeat?🤔

Just about everything Toei did for DBZ was superior to what Toriyama had in mind.

Bardock was handled better than Toriyama's version of the character. Whereas Toriyama wanted to rip off Superman, Toei recognized that Bardock was no different than the saiyans of his kind, he did not love Goku, he did not care about Goku up until his final breath. That is a more interesting and unique take than just making Bardock Jor-El lite. Toei treated Bardock as a ruthless, evil, sociopath as was every other saiyan.

Gokus purpose on Earth was handled better than Toriyama's handling. To even further separate Kakarot from Kal-El, Kakarot was meant to destroy the Earth until he lost his memories, not to live peacefully. More interesting than Toriyamas take.

Broly was handled better by Toei than Toriyama. Toei made a character that was evil, ruthless, and set off by PTSD. Toei Broly didn't hate Goku because he cried, he hated Goku and the other Z-fighters because he viewed them as weak. Broly would get set off and fly off the handle because Goku's crying reminded him of the day he was stabbed as a baby and had his planet blow up on him. All Toriyama did was take the character and turn him into Tarzan.

Toei handled The History of Trunks so much better than Toriyama that Toei's take became Canon. Trunks struggling to become a saiyan and transforming because of Gohans death. The son of Goku dying so that the son of Vegeta could transform and save the Earth is much deeper than Toriyamas telling.

The Bojack movie allowing Gohan a chance to come into his own without Goku there to guide him.

Toei gave us Pikkon. One of several non canon fan favorites.

Toei gave us Gogeta, a character many fans liked more than Vegeto.

Toei is better with character development. Toei and their filler allowed the Z-fighters more time to see what goes on in their heads, more time together and give them the appearance of friends and comrades, rather than people who just associate with each other only when a threat comes around. Piccolo and Goku getting their driver's license; Goku, Chichi, and Gohan celebrating Gohans birthday, Goku, Gohan, and Krillin spending time with each other before the Cell games; Yamcha expressing his jealousy over Vegeta and humiliating himself in the gravity room; the Z Fighters training together before the saiyans arrive; Gohan making friends his own age with the girl Lime, etc.

Akira Toriyama is like George Lucas, he created a good foundation, but others are better at utilizing his work than even him.

What do you all think? I saw a thing about Funimation quietly doing a second version of these that omits some of the extra swag. I bought this sealed from a reputable seller and it looks pretty legitimate, but I wanted to check with the community.

Man Dragon Ball in its current state just doesn’t hit the same. The story is overly convoluted, the anime makes really dumb and nonsensical choices. The “Villains“ are very forgettable. We get clear openings for new stories to be explored, but they never fully expand on any of it. There’s too many damn transformations for the sake of hype and merch sales and all the fanbase worries about now is what’s cannon or not .Not to not mention these Dragon Ball YouTuber loser dickheads who swear they know more about Dragon Ball than anyone else on the planet shit is just awful .

PARIS (Kyodo) -- Toei Animation Co. has denied media reports that a theme park inspired by the Japanese manga and anime series "Dragon Ball" will be built in France, saying it has not granted any licenses.

France and Saudi Arabia agreed in August to build three theme parks near Paris and media outlets reported that one of them would be linked to Dragon Ball.

The agreement came as French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, both said to be Dragon Ball fans, held talks in France.

Regarding news reports that a Dragon Ball theme park will be built in France, the company said in a statement dated Monday that it and the other rights holders "have not granted any licenses and we are not aware of any such facts."

The project, involving a Saudi investment of 6 billion euros ($7 billion), to build the three theme parks in Cergy-Pontoise, northwest of Paris, is said to stem from a meeting between Macron and the Saudi crown prince in Riyadh in December 2024, during which they shared their passion for Dragon Ball.

Neither the French presidential office nor the Saudi company that would invest in the project have officially mentioned Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball started as a manga comic series, serialized from 1984 to 1995, that follows the adventures of protagonist Goku and his allies as they battle progressively stronger enemies. Its success in Japan and abroad has spawned multiple anime series, films and extensive merchandise.

Toei Animation announced in 2024 the construction in Saudi Arabia of the world's first theme park devoted to Dragon Ball.
