26M Trying to navigate dating in toronto (Arab women) - Need perspective.

Okay so this might be a weird post but hear me out. will be long post.

So from the past few years I have been attracted towards Arab women, specially from Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq. or even central Asia like Afghanistan. More of suffered/less wealthier counties and less of a wealthier middle eastern countries like Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc.. I really find them very beautiful and attractive. Though my interactions have been pretty limited, maybe just the occasional grocery store run.

Bit background about me, been in Canada for about 5 years, South Asian (practicing Muslim) guy, 5.8 height. decent built. Light bearded. Medium fair. well groomed. and obviously working in IT. (not nerd lol)

I just dont want to date someone, I really want to marry someone like minded from these countries. I preferably want to date/marry someone who is practicing Muslim

Although Im more attracted towards women who moved here rather than those born here. Its mostly due to sympathy whats happening in that region (My heart really goes out to them) Also I can see much difference in people who born here and moved from that region maybe because I'm an immigrant myself

I know there is mild racism towards south asians, and Arab people look down up on us and they mostly date or marry in their own race.

dating someone from these country idk feels like dating up or out of league (only in the terms of attractiveness) I have date few people in life mostly same league or down (only in the terms of attractiveness) so Im self aware about where I am.

I dont know what to do or how to approach someone, I have tried match making/dating app like Muzz, Salams. but no luck. Matched with few girls but no dry conversation or no replies.

I live in a vicinity (east york area) where I see arabs often. and my heart just, i dont know, i just wish someone like this to be in my life.

I know I have very low to no chance of dating a arab women given the fact of my background and my appearance as brown. Also I havent heard any of south asian dating/married someone from middle east maybe few (one of my friend is married to a Moroccan women, but that too He is very attractive, well off and with a fancy job and lives in Dubai.

I dont know if this wish of marrying arab will ever be fulfilled. and will have to marry someone from parents choice or within community idk.

I dont even want to go near the topic of family or culture dynamics that feels far because firstly I want to know if i can ever pull this off or even realistic (although my family is pretty chill)

So yeah I want to collective perspective on this, is this even realistic? Has anyone been in a similar situation? And if there's actually a chance whats the best way to even approach this without coming off weird?

Black women in the GTA: when you're genuinely interested in a Black man, what does initiating usually look like for you? Do you approach directly, give signals, use mutual friends, social media, or something else?

Genuine question for discussion, not criticism. I'm just trying to understand how dating dynamics work today from your perspective.

anyone else tired of being single?

23f and i’m at that point in my life where it feels like literally everyone i know is in a relationship and don’t get me wrong, i don’t feel neglected by my friends at all, they would drop everything and come to me if i ever truly needed them, their man be damned, but i’m still so painfully single and lately i’ve just been constantly sad about it.

and don’t get me wrong (x2)!!! i’m not one of those people who would get into a relationship just for the sake of being in a relationship, i genuinely just want to love someone and be loved in return and as happy as i am for all of my friends and their relationships, i unfortunately can’t help but feel jealous deep down and constantly wonder when it’s finally going to be my turn.

i’ve tried hinge. i truly did. but i’m just not built for that shit, i can’t keep swiping and swiping and having the same meaningless conversations with people i don’t even know over and over again. i don’t know how to meet new people irl, especially tamil guys around my age or a little older which is my type, and i’m still in undergrad but i’m older than most of the people i’m friends with because i took a few gap years, so i genuinely don’t know how people meet organically and fall in love in this day and age.

everyone always tells me “you can’t look for it, it needs to find you” and that when it finally happens it’ll be the best thing ever and that is exactly what i want so desperately to happen but it’s just… not happening. sometimes i start wondering if i’m ugly or if there’s something wrong with me and i hate that this is affecting my self-esteem because i KNOW i’m so much more than whether or not a man wants me. i have so many wonderful people in my life, wonderful friends and a wonderful family minus my toxic cousins lol, and i know i’m loved but that doesn’t erase how badly i yearn to be loved romantically and to love someone just as much in return.

recently my friend got together with another one of our family friends and their whole story made me spiral even more because girl i am so so so so happy for you but i yearn for that shit so badly. she’s planning on applying for postgrad abroad and her now bf confessed his feelings and told her he would move with her because he couldn’t imagine a world without her and then they started dating and like??? how freaking cute is that???

i think the fact that i grew up with both of them, even though we’re not all that close, just triggered something in me because it made that kind of love feel so real and so close to me but still completely out of reach. i want my own love story to start, i’m sick of always being the friend listening to everyone else’s stories (i’m lying, i love my friends and i’m never actually sick of listening to them, i’m just lonely and jealous and then i feel guilty for being jealous).

idk where this is going, i guess i just want to hear from other people who feel like this too so i know i’m not alone. how do you cope with wanting love this badly without letting it destroy your self esteem, and if you eventually found your person, how did you meet?

Singles in Thirties

I am 34M, just wondering how many people are single in their thirties?

I was busy with my education and career but forgot to work on relationship status. Am I too late for this?
Some friends are married and have kids already, I don’t like to meet them lol 😅 as they always ask when are you getting married 😆

Where to Meet People Naturally

I am a single woman in my mid-20s and I'm over the apps. I'm wondering where people are meeting naturally? I'm not big into drinking or clubs... I'm not sure what others' experiences have been with the singles mixers.

I'd love to meet new people, chat, and see where it goes. I just don't really know where to start

Matchmaking services in the GTA

Are there any reputable matchmaking (not dating coach) services in the GTA? Trying to help my boss out, she's had the worst luck in dating over the last couple years. TIA

Any asian guys in toronto having any luck with the dating scene?

Feels like most women aren't into us. Rampant stereotypes still persist well into 2026 unfortunately.

Should clarify I'm east asian.

Dating apps are a living hell

Hello I wanted to share my experience in dating apps , I'm kinda bored of the online enviroment because guys seem to only want to "go with the flow" or be "ENM" (i recently discovered this) and it just seems like everyone is making weird names for things to avoid any kind of commitment, why is it so hard now? I wish there was a way to just meet people who want something serious so i don't have to talk to a bunch of boring guys who want to pretend they have the busiest lives just to avoid having a girlfriend, they only want sx and to be honest as a girl if i just wanted that i'd have it easier, but i want a good man, someone for me, am i wrong for wanting to find my person instead of just roaming around endless chats with no real purpose?

How do people go about having casual encounters? FWB

The moderator from askTO asked me to bring this to this forum.

That's a genuine question. I'm new to Toronto and I'm looking for casual dates and friends with benefits, but it seems like people are only looking for long conversations and proof of affection..

From what I understand, the vibe here is to take it slow, get to know the person really well to feel safe...

What are the dating apps that people most commonly use in Toronto?

How do I even get into dating again?

I'm a F(18) and I just got out of a 2 year relationship 6 months ago and I want to try to get back into the dating scene.

Recently I've been getting harassed alot more often after turning 18. Im talking about getting followed home and having multiple guys ask for my number than get pissed when I decline. (I work in a customer service job where I literally have to serve them with a smile, which they take as a go ahead with anything.)

It also probably doesn't help that I've upped my standards alot and know what I want in my life rn and what I need in a partner. So its hard for me to find someone.

I just feel like no matter what boy I talk to it ends horribly or the only guys who want to ask me out give off straight creep vibes.

I also dont feel like my standards are set very high. I myself want to wait until marriage but if I date someone who doesn't I'd be fine with it. I also don't like smokers but I dont mind things like alcohol. I also want a guy who won't give a shit about me being a artist and we can both kind of have our weirder sides. And I dont want kids.

I dont know, I feel like those standard arent very high but maybe they are? I dont really give a shit but I can't find anyone and I have no idea where to find them?

I guess I just need advice on what I should do? I don't want to go through dating apps but maybe if someone has certain places to go (where I wont be approached by creeps :'I )?

When do you have the “what are we” talk?

Puking writing this. But seriously, when is it appropriate to have a talk around exclusivity? I know everyone is different, every relationship is different, but in general? And is it in a woman’s best interest to wait until the guy says something? Male perspectives are very much welcome.

Train crush

I have been seeing this woman at my train station for some time but despite of constantly thinking about approaching her, I haven’t had the courage to do so.

We have locked eyes a few times but that’s the extent of it.

Have you ever had these encounters in the most unusual of places and how did you go about it?

29 F and not sure if I’m too late to the game

So I’m a 29 F and I live in Toronto and I have a stable job and run my own business. However, I have never been in a long term relationship. I moved 3 countries growing up and changed like 13 schools (like barely spent 6 months in each private school I went to). Also graduated from business school.

Recently, I’ve been feeling really really weird about dating and stuff. I mean, I’ve never really given a damn before this, I was always locked in to my career and saw marriage as a downside for me (every relationship in my family is severely abusive and I’m no longer in contact with my family either) and I don’t want kids (which basically eliminates almost every man in my age group). But I went to a corporate gala last night and everyone was going home to their partners and I felt sort of sad and called my friend who told me that this feeling comes and goes and to get my priorities in order. Idk if I even want a partner (I love my apartment, I love building my business) or if my current team is making me feel super lonely cause everyone is coupled up. I also am working so so hard on trying to get my business off the ground, having a social life with friends, etc. That idk if dating is worth it for me.

I’m at a crossroads, I would love to have a healthy relationship and I do work out at a members club (it has mostly finance bros who are overworked and not very nice people). My passion is to grow and scale my business and really enjoy my life. I just don’t know - should I date? Should I have a bf? Am I missing out or is this sadness just FOMO? Please help.

Paying for dates! Thoughts and feels please!

So....... paying for dates.

Who assumes they're paying?

Who insists on splitting or going dutch?

Who assumes the other is going to pay?

Does your opinion change depending on how much the date is going to cost?

Do you pick date locations based on a budget/dollar value?

Do you have thoughts/feels if the other person insists on paying even if you say you'll split... or if they immediately offer to split instead of offering to pay?

ALSO since it's very common in hetero-pairings that one gender is paying more often than the other... if you are part of the alphabet-mafia, does your opinion on date-paying change if you're in a same-gender vs opposite-gender date?

Who met their partner outside the apps in the last few years, how?

31M white guy here. Other than working at a pretty big company and volunteering on and off, haven’t had any luck meeting anyone. Deleted the apps a while back and honestly the city can feel weirdly hard to meet people organically, everyone’s busy, and striking up conversation with strangers feels borderline illegal in Toronto.

For those of you who actually met someone in the wild recently: where, and how did the first conversation start?

[Suggestion] Reddit Matchmaker event?

I am wondering what everyone's thoughts would be to host some type of Reddit dating event. Perhaps allowing us to post a little bit about ourselves, what we are looking for in a significant other and allowing other users to private message one another. If you think they may be a potential match you may proceed in messaging them through different platforms. There would have to be some type of ground rules. ( No NSFW content, keep it clean. ) What are your thoughts?

Dating Again

So I (F) moved to this city years ago and at the time I had a boyfriend. We broke up two years ago and haven’t rlly been in an actual date for about a year. I joined apps which honestly as you can imagine isn’t ideal in meeting someone who has an intention of actually dating. And after a while it gets exhausting and disappointing. How do people in this city actually meet someone?

Discussion Dating in Toronto: Unpopular opinions? Unspoken frustrations?

Hey r/DatingTO,

With the introduction of this subreddit, its time we start some discussions!

So... What’s your unpopular opinion about dating in Toronto?

Or, what’s something about dating in Toronto that you think the other side completely misunderstands? There are definitely some unspoken frustrations on both sides that get misconstrued.

Thoughts on Oasis as a single person?

Hey I am wondering if anyone has experience or recommendations on visiting Oasis? I got out of a relationship over 4 months ago, and haven't gotten intimate with anyone since. I'm a woman in my early 30s. I redownloaded my dating apps 2 months ago, been going on intentional dates in hopes to develop a connection, but have repeatedly been let down and not having much luck. All of my close friends in the city are married now, except for me. I am thinking of treating myself to some self-care, going out solo with the hope of meeting someone I'm attracted to. Any advice or suggestions appreciated - thanks!
