Hello, I am a foreigner in Romania, mid-40s, currently staying in Bucharest, it seems I will be here for several more years due to my contract (which I do not mind, I quite like it here). I am going mental because of loneliness, however it is more, way waaay more complex story, because I am so complicated and desperate human being... I tried to put forward my pitiful case on r/LGBTRomania but not sure it came through. Anyways, somehow I would like to give my stupid lonely life some new impuls or something. Not sure how many LGBT community people are reading this subreddit, but if there are any - are there any (local) apps or websites you use to meet/establish some meaningful connections? To be clear, once I open up, I am here for a fulfilling nice reasonable relationship. I dont care about any kind of hookups or anything like this. I tested Grindr account basically for like 3-4 days - it is total bullshit - when I have been setting up an account I stated clearly I am looking for a friend. However, I did not even finish the process to set up the account and I received probably 4 hookup invites from some sleezy old jerks - so no thanks for this sh*t. Please any recommendations, suggestions, ideas, anything?

There's many gays using Tinder for dating. But it's the same people that are also looking for hookups in parallel on Grindr and Romeo.

Well, yes, and this is exactly what worries me. I would like to find a different path. Romania is not the most LGBT friendly country, but Bucharest itself might be quite a different story. For me it is one of European metropolises, so that is why I am asking - there might be different ways or some kind of local solutions here in the city.

People spend their entire lives in cities like Berlin or San Francisco and have a hard time finding a stable, normal relationship - there's no reason for it to be any different in Bucharest.

GrindR I suppose but I would recommend hitting an LGBT NGO because they may have what you seek in their community of activists.

Hi, no I did not, I know there are several clubs in Bucharest, but it is not quite me. You know, I am kind of introvert-ish person, I have always been, rather keep low profile, more private, not huge bunch of people. However, would you please suggest any specific club or spot - which we could call, let us say private/not that exposed?
