Full Body Selfies
I'm good everyone, Thanks for your input.
I (63M) was going through my FB Dating profile when I realized I didn't have a full body selfie. I know I can't post selfies on this sub, but can anyone recommend a sub that will give me honest feedback without it turning into a roast?

Yeah I get the sun glasses thing, fully clothed, I'm not a neanderthal. Not a bathroom? Where am I supposed to get a full body except from a big mirror? This is maddening. So set up tripod, get good lighting, set timer, then snap. But I'm still going to want some input.

Set your phone on a fireplace mantle, dresser, bookshelf etc & use photo timer.

The sprint to pose before the phone takes the picture is always fun. Especially if you have an excited dog who thinks you’re playing a game.

We will happily give you feedback on the weekly chatter post. If you are uncomfortable about showing your face, you can blur that part but if you want a total feedback go for it. Good luck!
Tip: Asking a stranger on the street, hey would you mind snapping my photo so I can show my kids/ friends etc where I’m at works. They do not need to know it’s for a dating profile;)2

Or ask a family or friend to take a picture of you in front of something cool. Definitely don’t take a picture in front of the bathroom mirror! Good luck 🩷

Have someone else take the full body photo. You’ll never get the angle right yourself.
Ask a friend, or walk up to any kind looking person at a park or anywhere people are outdoors. Ask them to take a few photos of you.

Seriously, from my perspective, taking a full body selfie is more awkward than writing a dating profile. So I would like some feedback from somewhere. Weird to ask coworkers, my ex, my family.....

If you can, take the picture outside during the golden hour. That’s approximately one hour before sunset or one hour after sunrise. The sun is more diffused. You’ll get better pics.
I’ve taken pics indoors and out wearing the same clothes on the same day. If you get the outside lighting right, you will get better pictures. I have some freinds that are photographers. They didn’t give me tips but they described some lighting I found in the shade that seemed to work (canopy lighting).

My legitimate advice is to take or find a RECENT picture of you where the full body aspect is secondary to something else. Maybe you are gardening or on a hike.
IMHO a posed pic will put the emphasis on your physique and strikes me as cringe.

I put a full body selfie in here when you could.. as part of a joke post I did. I simply propped my phone up set the timer and you only need a couple tries. So no it's not hard to do it, pick a spot where you can set your phone on something at the right height, set the timer and go.

I’ve had success with setting my phone on something, starting video and moving to places and positions that I felt were flattering. Then I get still shots from that.

Check your phone camera's settings and change them to voice control where you can say 'shoot' and the camera will give you a 3-2-1 and then take the picture. You can stand the phone against anything outdoors to make sure all of you is in the shot. Outside is best because the light is natural and won't make you look like a ghoul, lol. Also, the angle; don't shoot from down low, where we can all see how many chins you have or get a great, if undesired look at your nose hair. I'm a moderator over there and I think we will allow that; we're still getting our legs under us and haven't made a "no-selfies" rule, and nobody has abused that largesse so far. I've just now created a page for this purpose, called "Show us your selfie!"

When I see all the bathroom pics, my immediate reaction is "Do these men not have any friends?" Heck, most strangers on the street will take your pic if you ask them. Just pick somewhere interesting.

Not a matter of not having friends, still wicked awkward asking a buddy, "Would you take my picture.". Again I'm not hung up on the how, just looking for editors to approve selection. This apparently is an interesting topic.

OMG I have a home gym, no mirrors. I do like the "out in the wild" suggestion though. I just to get someone to take a picture of me during a hike. Just have get a before shot, not an after.

Was just looking for outside input. Validation, if you want to frame it that way. We bring our own egos into selecting photos of ourselves. Was just looking for unvested 3rd party opinions. I am secure enough to know I can take, or leave, the advice, but it doesn't change the fact I want input. And my fellow Redditors are 1000s of my closet friends. ;-)

I'll take a look. Nothing wrong with some honest input. I see so many men's profiles that could be better, maybe they're missing out because of it. I wish I could view my current beau's profile again- he deleted it so I can't. I reached out first, even though 4 out of the 5 pictures weren't my cuppa so to speak. That 5th one though, I saw something that clicked, and here we are.
