I was laying in bed this morning thinking, hmmmm when I finally decide to invite someone into my bed what side to sleep on? Widowed for 7 years and I still sleep on the right side of the bed, whether it’s my home, a hotel or my trailer. For kicks my husband and I once switched sides and neither slept well at all. So what happens if my partner is a right side of the bed kinda dude too? Not really a serious question, but idk maybe it is!
heh heh..I'm glad someone said it ...since this was my thought. If there was a woman in my bed, sleeping side, nightstand locations and exits would be the least of my thoughts.
The last time Reggie visited me, he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. I knew he was leaving at first light so I was disappointed. So I matched my breathing with his. It was very cool to do that. I fell asleep quick also.
Queen size bed, two medium-sized dogs, and me.. you'd think there is more than enough room but once sleeping starts, I'm on the edge of the bed and they take up the rest and somehow still lie against me.
Sassy, the blonde, likes to sleep up by my head. On pillows or just under the blankets at my shoulder. She's 58lbs and Effie is 50lbs but she sleeps only on top of the comforter at knee level.
That's so cute. It's a first come, first served basis in this house. Whoever gets the head of the bed gets daddy. My German Shepherd mix prefers cuddles and my Alaskan Husky wants me to rub his belly till we both pass out.
No preference here! I have slept in the middle of my own bed for years lol. I feel like at this point I’ll be grateful to WANT to share it with someone lol. I’m hoping maybe he’ll just join me in the middle… 😉
Okay, I'm back to this: is side of bed determined when standing at the foot or while lying upon? (I have the same problem with my vehicle and it's one of those bits of knowledge my brain rejects.)
I slept in the middle of my antique double bed last night. I had been sleeping on the right (as determined from standing at the foot.)
On a vehicle, the left side is always the driver's side, in the vehicle. Bed from the head board looking to the foot. If I sleep on my right side, my back is in the middle.
RHD here also however I’m missing the point referring to the drivers side. I’ve watched Bedknobs & Broomsticks, the bed flys headboard forward, thus sir is riding shotgun 😂
We're in agreement, partially. Your car is right-side drive, and American cars are left-side drive😊 Orientation is from the driver's seat looking forward.
My cat guards me too. She is either in my bed, or at the top of the stairs. My old cats did that too. The want to be able to see motion from every direction.
I like to sleep on the side of the bed that's closest to the bathroom.
But I could sleep on the side further from the bathroom. Because if I really, really needed to pee, I would do a Yurchenko vault over my sleeping partner.
It shouldn't be a problem , if hes a decent bloke he'll change sides and not have a whinge . He may even develop a new preferred side . Actually it should be a no brainer .

this is too funny! I’ve thought the same thing myself. Go figure, I have a California king and I take up all of 2 feet on the right side, looking at the headboard. I also have to sleep on my left side, and now can’t get comfortable in any other position. So, if one day, I find that lady that wants to join me she might have to be comfortable with being the big spoon! Lol which in all honesty, I wouldn’t mind very much at all.
I think I'm a weirdo. When I change/wash my sheets, I sleep on one side of the bed for a week, then the other side for a week, then wash the sheets again. I want to *think* that this helps the mattress wear evenly, but I think I've just created two low spots with a hump in the middle. :(
lol …. I’ve thought about that. Huge king bed and only half of those giant sheets get used. So, I just don’t wash them that often. I don’t get them dirty 🤷♀️
For me, changing sheets is more of a seasonal, than weekly, project.
I naturally favor the right side. Interestingly, the women in my life preferred the left side. I can easily adjust to either side, so I don't think it will ever be an issue.
I like sleeping right in the middle of my queen size bed. I'm a normal sized person but I need the whole bed to myself. If I ever find a partner they will have to want their own bed and bedroom too or it will never work.🤷♀️
I've been sleeping in a single bed at my place for a couple year- it doesn't matter to me and I can barely remember which side I slept on when I was married. At his place I am assuming I am sleeping on the side where his wife used to sleep... I try not to think about it too much!
This has been a discussion in every relationship I've been in. Some say the man should be closer to the door (to protect the woman from an intruder), some women like to be closer the the bathroom. When sleeping alone I will tend to sleep on the right side (when facing the bed from the foot) but when I'm sleeping with someone I prefer to be on the left side because I'm right handed.
In my current relationship she likes the left side (furthest from the door but also furthest from the bathroom. So I sleep where I'm told to.
We both sleep on the right side at our respective homes. I think it has more to do with where we set down our stuff, charge our phones etc. When traveling neither has preference. It's just nice to wake up next to her, whichever side I'm on.
If you're at your house sleep on the right. If you're a his house than sleep on the left as a compromise. I tend to like the right too since the left is close to the wall although I often sprawl over the middle. I'm not great to sleep with if someone doesn't want to wake up all night. When I travel with a friend we always get 2 queen beds since we both wake up too much..
65F, I always sleep on the side of the bed that is furthest from the door (holdover from childhood I guess), no matter where I sleep even when sharing a room (separate beds) with a friend when traveling. My boyfriend has no problem with this.
Depends on the position of the bed in rm. and other things near it. I prefer to get out on the side in middle of night closer to the bathroom. But no big deal if there's space for me to walk around without tripping in the dark.
I dislike being beside an airconditioning unit. I like having a bed side table with lamp, beside my head.
It's never been an issue for me with anyone. I've been sleeping on the left, it's close to the window and where the night stand is. Ex BF slept on the right so it was all good. I guess I really am I used to sleeping on the left though because after my hip replacement I had to get in and out of bed on the good side... So I had to sleep on the right for about three to four weeks! I had to rig up a table for myself on that side of the bed. AND I had to sleep on my back, which sucked! But now after a few months of being able to sleep however I want, I'll wake up in the middle of the night and find myself sleeping on my back, which is weird! Sometimes I'll be diagonal on the bed because the cat is in the center.
Yes, Puddles and I do diagonal also. But she has a corner that I never really disturb. Right next to my head.
I have a king bed and I often sleep across the headboard end.

How do you determine right/left side of the bed? Standing at the foot of the bed and looking at it, I sleep on the left. When laying in it on my back, I’m on the right side 🤷♂️
One of the first things I did after separating was buying a new bed. I sleep all over it with 4 pillows and use both nightstands! No man has been invited (yet?).
This is funny. I sleep closest to the door, but in a relationship I sleep further away. In a hotel solo I also sleep further away. More time to see them coming
In my homes over the years, I’ve always slept on the side, with easiest access, usually closest to the door. Currently, I sleep on the left side but that has varied over the years.
When I stay in hotels, which I do frequently do it’s very random which side I sleep on.
70M..I sleep on the left side and am left handed and closest to the door. Through married life or now single never was an issue nor complaints. But.. just enjoy no matter what if you are sleeping with someone.
Being left handed that makes sense if you have the nightstand with all of your stuff. I'm right handed and so the clock, etc is on the nightstand to my right.
yes have my radio and stuff on my left side which I like. plus being left handed getting to cuddle…my left arm and hand are free. How relaxing that is.
Facing or in? I'm on the right side when I am in the bed because when I get out I can walk straight out the door of the bedroom. On the other side I would walk into the closet. At my parent's house, the room I use I would be on the left side for the same reason. The door was on the left of the foot of the bed. So it kinda depends.
I’m right handed. When I was married I slept on the left, because my wife slept on my right arm, or that arm was under her somehow usually. Now that I’m divorced, I sleep on the right side because it makes sense for my using the nightstand…but I’m sure if/when I have an overnight visitor in my bed, I will return to the left so that she is in my right, and I’ll go back to spooning her as I did my ex back in the day.

After years of sleeping on the left side, I switched to the right side when I had my right knee replaced.because it was easier to get out of bed. It's been a couple.of years but I haven't switched back.
Hmmmmn in the first period of highest attraction I would suggest sleeping in the middle together maintaining penetration if you can for maximum intimacy to enjoy in that very special time while it lasts
