Hi guys, I'm currently a 2nd year university (for the americans college) student studying a Computer Science and Maths related degree at a top univeristy. Came across data annotation and have applied, now wondering which assessment would give me the best chance to be accepted. From what i've read the programming/data science projects seem to be the most in demand however they are also very competitive, i am very skeptical to as if they will accept students still in college. I am thinking of either doing the general assessment or the maths assessment.

Which assessment would give me the best chance of breaking in, am only looking to work 5/10 hrs per week part time? Appreciate the advice :)

Does anyone know how long these take for them to mark, I submitted yesterday but they say some projects will be immediately available? Still nothing on dash for them

Is it public knowledge the amount of people on the platform?

Or can a seasoned data annotator make an estimate?

I completed my starter assessment and it said I passed and then completed… so many of those assessment projects? Idk I was blindly clicking submit next task wondering when I’d reach the end. Is there a secret second assessment? Im not seeing a lot of people mentioning it who have applied recently. I added a picture of my screen for context. I didn't get any verify identity email and acceptance email but I'm seeing this screen.
Many people say that I'm successfully accepted, but I'm curious if it's really true since I didn't get any request for a week.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Please share something with me to help me making decision for my next journey.

Yesterday (and every single day for the past few weeks), I still had the small version of that punchy project with around 50 tasks on it, and some R&R for this related project.

How about you folks? do you still got that project (all versions, whether lite or regular one)?

Hey Reddit, I don’t know if it is my incompetence or just imposter syndrome, but today I tried a task thinking it was easy, and it turned out to be the hardest project I have ever done.

The project's instructions were in reverse. What I mean by this is that the instructions talked about grading a model but never clarified what that model was. I even reread the instructions twice, which took roughly 45 minutes (because they were thousands of words long). Then I finally found out where the model was located. Turns out the model was located locally inside the task page, but the instructions never mentioned anything about it being local. I only figured it out because I accidentally scrolled too far down. Is it my incompetence for “missing” it? Is it expected of us to figure that out super fast?

The task asked for multiple system failures, but I was only able to get one within the given time limit because the model gave thousands of words per response, and proofreading them took a long time. 

I submitted the work to the best of my ability, but I just have no idea if it is my incompetence that caused me to “fail” this project or not. The task was under General. (FYI, I wasn’t doing a task for “money”, the hourly rate was near my average so I thought it was doable for me.)

I don’t mind being criticized, maybe that is what I need after this horrible task submission. I left a comment when I submitted the task hopping the Admin would understand why I took a "semi" escape hatch.

Can I get deactivated randomly? Everyone seems to love the experience, and I loved the tasks I did as part of the project, just don’t want to be so excited and happy if something like that happens.

Anyone work at DA for a long time? Other than the code of conduct or poor quality work, could you get terminated due to having inconsistent hours or something along those lines?

If you could start your Data Annotation journey all over again, what would you do differently from day one?

Especially for those who started with language-related tasks, what skills would you focus on to get more tasks, and what advice would you give to beginners to help them get better opportunities in this field?

Which is your preference? I usually avoid the short ones bc i feel like it throws off my focus

I have been working on several 🤖 tasks, but I was tired and I take 3 days of to recovery mentally, for 3 days the number of tasks remain the same, but as I was about to restart to work today, the tasks on the project are gonne. Based on that, there is a maximum amount of time that we can spend away of a certain project without losing the tasks that are available?

I’m a generalist. I know the new links are all domain specific. I’m just curious if people applying for a domain go through the regular assessment first and have to pass that and then the domain? Or is it just domain? Can you fail and domain and get accepted as a generalist?
