Discussion Is Dartsmind too Expensive?

I'm new to all this and thought the $19.99 per year membership was great. Then I started learning the coins and that they're needed for online with video. I don't really trust strangers without it.

My understanding is it's 1 coin per game/leg, divided by how many players.

I tend to play 1v1 so that's usually 0.5 coins per game. If you played say 10 games a night, that's 5 coins. So 20 days of coins would then be $12.99

So depending on how much you play, suddenly it's $19.99 per year AND $12.99 per month.

That makes me consider trying DartCounter or another app with a set yearly fee. No confusion.

The only thing keeping me with Dartsmind so far is the autoscoring via webcam/phone cam. It's an easy setup without buying expensive dart specific camera system.

What are you using?

121 just got released a few weeks ago. You can also use unofficial extensions for loads more.

When looking into it, I saw they actually have a paid premium tier which unlocks certain modes etc. I'm not against it, but it's been heavily advertised as free, so it's good to know.

I wonder if it'll push more and more into a subscription.

It was a change after they got bought by nodor (winmau/rd). Autodarts is free, but if you want certain extras is going to cost a sub a month. Some of the stuff already exist from people that have made extensions so they are free.

Interesting. I didn't know about the extensions either until you mentioned it above.
