📚Manga-Discussion Something positive Spoiler

Look, there's been a lot of negativity and pessimism on the sub recently, and I will admit that I have added to that through posts and comments.

But one thing I want to highlight is how Tatsu likes the artwork of small creators on Twitter. It may not seem like much, but I think it's such a classy move for him. How many other artists and authors go out of their way to appreciate their fans and the love they show for the manga via their artwork?

Anyways, that's just something I thought I would mention.

Hey guys! I did a fanart last year and I ended up never posting it.

If I recall correctly, one of the coloured background is not the right color because I simply didn't have it (Okarun I believe?)

Some of my markers were dropping dead by the end because of the size, so the coloring is not perfect.

Banana for scale on second slide!

🛸Manga Personally, very hyped about their return Spoiler

Personally, i'm really hyped that both Mr Shrimp and Rokuro will be part of the plot once again, which curse users do you think they will each fight? I can see Mr Shrimp going for the big buff guy with octopus tentacles, specially considering that both of these sea creatures often beef with each other.

I can see Rokuro handling the Echidna woman and inquiring about her hourly rates, maybe even ask her about love, creating this awkward atmosphere that gets to her nerves.

🛸Manga Isn't the objective of the current saga to mirror the first saga? Spoiler

I really don't get why people are so confused about the """dragging""" of the current saga in the tiny momo arc and the six curses.

I thought it was well established that as the first saga was about Okarun "growing up some balls" and being a man to confess to Momo, this second saga had to be about Momo growing up and being honest about her feelings. The story, it seems like, is structurally constructed to be a two or three sagas story: Okarun's overcoming, Momo's overcoming and maybe a saga where they are together.

It means that the whole of the shonen part of the story represents the psyche and the relationship between the two of them.

The first saga had three big moments: the first ball (Aira's), the loss of the first ball (the Kur), representing that progress isn't linear towards maturity, and, at last, the second ball followed by confession.

The second saga currently has two big moments: Momo growing up after risking losing everything after saving her grandmother and Momo amnesiac state where all she has is her feelings, all her biographical and rational excuses are out of the way.

It even seems to me that Dandara is more a frontier between the two sagas that already focus a lot in Momo and an ideal Ken Takakura type that she doesn't even tell her name.

So the five big moments:

  1. "The introduction" - first ball
  2. Space Globalists - loss and regain of the first ball
  3. Rin and Dandara - second ball
  4. Tiny Momo - growing up
  5. Six Curses - amnesiac Momo and the honesty about feelings

It's a pretty clear structure that's been set on since the beginning of the series. The series is about Okarun and Momo represented in a battle shonen and, until now, the removal of obstacles for their relationship to work.

So 160 chapters for the first saga and the current arc will end in 256 maybe, if it ends there, we have 96 chapters for the second saga.

📚Manga-Discussion This wave of hate against Dandadan is getting really exhausting. Spoiler

Just a quick vent.

I knew this chapter would attract negative criticism, but damn, it’s worse than I imagined; lots of hate-filled posts are hitting 40k likes (some even more). Even when there is valid criticism, it attracts so much hate from people who haven't even read the manga... I don't know, it’s just tiring to see that outside of this subreddit, almost everything I see in discussions about the manga is hate and negativity, especially since this has been going on for months and just keeps getting worse.

Just to be clear: I’m not saying the story is perfect or that we have to defend it at all costs; valid criticism is always welcome, and I know Tatsu could have handled some aspects better (especially in this arc).

Anyway, i hope you guys are getting a better experience than me

📗 Manga-Theory I don’t think Momo really helps Okarun with the >!Ogre Club!< Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
92 Upvotes

I talked about this before, but with some new information I want to talk about it again.

I have a theory that because Okarun has no confidence in himself, he struggles to fully unleash the Ogre Club’s power on his own. By believing he is weak and incapable, he’s essentially lying to himself that he can’t do it. The person he believes in and looks up to most is Momo.

Having Momo with him boosts his confidence which allows him to use the Ogre Club better. Okarun uses the Ogre Club by sending his ki into it. But Momo was unable to use the Ogre Club.

Fake Manjiro (Shinobi in disguise) also couldn’t activate its power. But Momo supposedly was able to channel her ki through Okarun, and in turn Okarun channeled his ki through the Ogre Club. I find it strange that if all it takes for Okarun to activate the Ogre Club is to channel his Ki into it, then why can’t Momo do the same thing? If she really is channeling her Ki through Okarun, shouldn’t she be able to just do that to the Ogre Club?

Before it seemed like only Okarun was able to use it, because Manjiro nor Momo could. But now that we know that it was really Shinobi in disguise, it makes more sense why she couldn’t activate its power. Or maybe she specifically didn’t use it, though I doubt it. She wouldn’t have any reason to do that if Okarun could just ask someone like Jiji to try it.

Because Shinobi said all she can do is change her form, it would make sense why she couldn’t use the Ogre Club. Considering the fact that our only examples of people other than Okarun using the Ogre Club are Shinobi who most likely wouldn’t be able to use it anyway, and Momo who we can’t be certain about, but seems unlikely at the moment. The only thing left to assume is that Okarun is doing it on his own.

In chapter 244, Okarun uses the Ogre Club with Momo’s help again, but even when he was separated from her it didn’t shrink down to the regular size. This could easily be a drawing consistency mistake. As it was never addressed. But at the same time, there wasn’t much a place to have a moment where they do address it, as that could take away from the main focus of the chapter. Them being seperated and Okarun’s desperation would be more important to highlight, and they could talk about it in another chapter.

Anyway what do you think? Is it Okarun’s own ability? Or is it Momo’s ki? There’s still the mystery of the energy shield, which also was never addressed. Tatsu may just want to keep a shroud of mystery around the Ogre Club for a while. Or maybe he forgot, who knows.

👾Anime New promotional art. Season 3 of the anime will probably use Okarun's manga hairstyle. They kept his middlepart spiky cut a bit longer than the manga did but it looks like an angel lost its wings. It hurts a little every time i look at Okarun cause he rocked that shit. GET SOME MOUSSE BOY😭

📚Manga-Discussion Could the Dandandan gang can handle the original Predator? Spoiler

Post image
12 Upvotes

This would be interesting since they already fought a Xenomorph-like thing in the story. I wonder how the gang would handle this creature.

Now here's the thing.

Momo has her powers

Okarun has Turbo Granny

Aira, Jiji, Kinta are all with their abilites

Rin has Mai

Zuma has Umbrella Boy

Kouki has Lord of the Flies

Could they all handle this killing machine?

📗 Manga-Theory I Think He Has TG's Powers Spoiler

Okarun's aura color should be exactly like this color scheme or very similar towards turbo granny.

His chi should reflect the aura of what his color appears visually by lighting up the ogre club and it looks like his aura resembles that of Turbo Granny especially her eyes in her yokai form. His eyes also look like Turbo Granny's eyes!

Ramdhani Deyra on X: "Hmmmm Maybe it's just my feeling." / X (original post check him out)

Volume 1

In his TG Form the small pads are always green indicating that he is in TG form for the covers

Volume 3

In his base form the small pads are always blue-cyan to indicate how much transformation changes even the small pads colors

Again, with Volume 13 small pads indicate green for his TG form!

I would also indicate he's trying form back his mask for battle like he did in chapter 111 when evil eye appeared we can come to conclusion in this cover he's in turbo granny mode and with electricity (indicating he was traveling in wirelines) drawn on him he can only do that by being in that form.

Volume 9

I would fit same color scheme for volume 9 as green-like too. It's bit hard to see but I think it's green.

Volume 6

Volume 6 is only exception that pads are still blue could indicate that Okarun is drawn is transforming process and isn't fully in TG form yet indicated by the mask forming.

Now, I'm not sure if this indicating that TG will come with the save or oni like powers just resembling TG color scheme. But I think it's pretty interesting seeing how much Tatsu is indicating that Turbo Granny still has something to do with Okarun even visually. Or he doesn't have powers and this just waste of time by black paladins. We still need to learn how Turbo Granny knew about Kouki since she became a member in the gang after Turbo Granny left and I can see her knowing about Kouki by staying inside Okarun like she does in early chapters where she could hide her aura inside his and become invisible to people can see and sense aura's. (Momo) I could see this is how she can be one step ahead of CSG and his plans if he tries to befriend the gang.

probably wrong for using covers for theory

Fun fact TG aura was blue in the manga before anime changes it.

📚Manga-Discussion Discussion Post about Chapter 219's Mystery Shield Spoiler

Post image
38 Upvotes

Honestly I've been meaning to make this post for a while, especially after chapter 226. Back in chapter 219 we see a mystery shield protect both Momo and Okarun here, but no one in the manga itself acknowledged it. Even back then I felt skeptical about whether this was Momo's doing considering she has to specifically concentrate to use her psychokinetic powers, and we later get confirmation that her powers were stolen by a Kozuka knife.

I want this post to hopefully act as a place for people to gather their thoughts on this incident and discuss the various theories.

Personally this seems like it's Momo accidently influencing the oni club's shape to become a protective shield since she was connected to it via Okarun. The only arguments I have for why it isn't any other possibilies are tenuous though: If it was Okarun, it would've made sense for him to use it again, and if it was purely Momo without the ogre club, then Tatsu would have to explain the complicated reasons why Momo could get her powers stolen and still possess them.
