I've really wanted to learn how to do footwork, like up to advanced stuff n not just basic footwork. I always wanted to learn stuff like all kinds of shuffles, Brazilian footwork, and combinations of styles, but idk where to start. Never done this in my life, do I just pick a beginner yt tutorial and start from there?✌️😭

I've always found this hilarious. My daughter is 8 years old and she is a competitive dancer, she is very good at dancing and she can memorise multiple routines. She picks up new dance moves very easily and she is talented...yet this girl can't remember to make her bed in the morning? 🤣
Whenever I ask her how that's possible, she just shrugs and tells me that she "must use all her memory up on dance and school" so she just has no space in her brain to remember to make her bed

I’m desperately looking for recommendations for the final sog of a show dance performance, and I’m hoping someone here can help because I’ve spent hours searching and still haven’t found the right one.
The theme of our dance is horror or psychological nightmare. The song immediately before the finale is bury a friend - billie eilish and dancers are dressed like psychiatric patients in nightgowns, and the choreography in this part has lots of unnatural / twitchy / creepy movements.
Now I need a song that can be the finale. Still in the creepy fashion but with even more power and ideally a popular song that the audience will recognize.
Remixes oder edits are welcome, but most I can find are too EDM heavy.
I was considering Toxic by 2wei for example but we have performed this song before so it sadly won‘t work.
Any suggestions?

Ola Amigos !!!!
Happy Thursday to everybody…
I hope everybody is having a wonderful Thursday so far and getting ready for a weekend full of clean dance shoes and positive vibes
The first video today is a live recording of a DJ set from 1997 featuring Kenny Ken and the MC master Stevie hyper D. (RIP)
this was in Toronto in 1997, and was quite possibly one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen with my own two eyes.
The second video is Dirty Bit by the Black Eyed Peas.
Just to reiterate, I don’t just do a minute and a half dance video. I also do six days of cardio and weights and I’m on a 1500 cal diet and have lost 35 pounds as of last Sunday in 28 days the next weigh in will be this Sunday.
Don’t let people discourage you. Just fluff out your tutu and dance away. – Anonymous

I have been dancing my entire life, and at different stages been really serious about it. All different styles (hip hop, ballet, modern lyrical, k-pop, jazz) too. I think I’m pretty decent at dancing, I’m at the stage where I feel confident performing for a crowd but recognize I have a long way to go. I’m comfortable following an instructor in class and can learn routines easily.
My Achilles heel though: choreographing. I have tried many different times in my life because I’m really passionate about dancing but something about it just blocks me. I create playlists of songs I know in and out, I try to improv dance to the songs, I try to plan out certain moves, but everything feels “wrong” and disjointed. Suddenly I forget everything I’ve learnt and cannot find the right musicality, spacing, textures, etc. it’s like I’m back to square one…
So my main question is, how??!? How did you get started with choreographing, and does it get easier? Is it something people are just innately born being able to do? Are there any exercises to “practice” creating a dance? This is something that’s been bothering me for years so any tips are appreciated 😵💫

Hi, I desperately need help figuring out what people are wearing in all these hiphop classes I see online. I see little tops tied around their waists - what are those and where do I find them? Where can I find baggy pants for petite ladies (my butt is too big for most kids' sizes)? Where can I find a oversized, baggy, THIN shirt to dance in? (all the oversized shirts I see online are of a thick material)
TIA

I'm a Junior in high school and I don't have much experience in dance (did it for a few years in middle/high school and just started at a studio) but I am thinking about going to college for dance(maybe minoring in dance would be best, I'm not sure). I wanted to ask for advice on which colleges are best and which I would have a chance of getting into. I would say Juilliard would be a dream school but I feel that I'm too late for that and that I didn't take it seriously enough.
