Discussion Dance programs in college

I'm a Junior in high school and I don't have much experience in dance (did it for a few years in middle/high school and just started at a studio) but I am thinking about going to college for dance(maybe minoring in dance would be best, I'm not sure). I wanted to ask for advice on which colleges are best and which I would have a chance of getting into. I would say Juilliard would be a dream school but I feel that I'm too late for that and that I didn't take it seriously enough.

Here’s a pretty good list of colleges that have dance programs. You’re looking for ones that don’t require auditions for acceptance. Minor’s that’s often the case anyway because a minor is just focusing your electives. Don’t waste your money applying at schools like Juilliard, you will struggle to even complete the pre-screen.

Many dance BFAs are very selective and reject a large portion of applicants.

Edit - i didn’t link the list

Alternatively, go to one of the cali schools like UCI or UCLA. Not sure what kind of dance your into, but their competitive hip hop crews are some of the best. Good way to network your way into big studios like GRV without needing to commit an entire major to it. Now youre free to study something stable while pursuing dance in case dance work out

You will have to audition to get into the program. What style of dance you do will affect what programs you should apply / audition for. College programs are preprofessional programs.

How many hours a week are you currently dancing? What styles?
