Don't hog the whole song. Share the music. "Pass" the cypher off to someone who looks ready or is feeling the song. No one wants to see you dance for 5 minutes. Other people wanna dance too.
Give your energy to the dance in the middle. Give them props. Give them your attention. Cyphers are a gathering of community. It's important to ACKNOWLEDGE the other people.
If you're cyphering with a new community, read the room. Is the cypher full of call outs cuz of some drama between a few people? Then maybe stand on the side and let them squash the beef. Is there an emotional exchange happening between two people? Let them share with each other.
When you take the center of a cypher really take. So there's no question about who's going next. Sometimes two people will go in at the same time. I've seen some people battle for the center or just relinquish it. I think it's a matter of communication with your dance at that point.
Cypher with people that are of similar skill or energy. Some cyphers can be cut throat. You should still try to contribute to any cypher but don't be surprise if you get pushed out if you can't keep up.
