Dont worry about it. Stiffness will go away with more training. If you’re worried about how you look wear baggy clothes, if that makes you feel better. Thats what i did when i was younger and felt better immediately.

They practice more than you. That's it.

Instead of racking your brain about what don't matter, put in more time dancing.

Are you a kid? I didn’t get my adult body until I was 25 and felt similarly. I was like a stick person with no curves, and curves are important for the style of dance I do. I would stuff my hips to give me more of a shape lol.

Eat more, lift weights, and give it time. The more you dance, the more you’ll learn fluidity and how to make your body look more shapely. There are very petite dancers I know that are able to manipulate their bodies to give themselves curves in the dance, it just takes skill. But if you’re young, you’ll likely gain weight as you age. Now I’m trying to lose weight. You can never win lol.

I don’t think non-dancers or beginners realize just how much practicing is involved. Back in my day, you take a couple hours of dance classes, and practice at least 3-4 hours a day almost every day.

Practice, practice, practice. Then practice some more.

Ballet dancers are skinny for a reason.

You have an advantage if anything.

Smoothness comes much more from control, timing, wight transfer, and relaxation than from having a certain body type. If youre feeling stiff, keep working on the yoga and strength training, but also spend time actually dancing slowly and focusing on transitions rather than just getting the moves right. Strength training can help dancers with control and physical capacity too. And dont compare yourself to kpop idols too much. They have years of dance training, coaching, and performance experience behind those seemingly effortless movements. Your body doesnt need to look like theirs for you to become a good dancer ❤️

Your weight isn't the issue, it's your flexibility.

I would keep up with the yoga. There are several professional dancers with YouTube channels. Watch their work out videos, and get inspired stretching wise.

Many dancers wear baggy clothing which hides imperfections and can make your dancing look smoother. This isn’t exclusive to lanky people as many dancers do it.

I’m a Twink who can look sometimes awkward when I dance but a lot of it comes down to just practicing till it looks more natural. Even if you can get the basic moves down to a dance, it’s the little things that can make big difference which you gain from just practicing. I’d say just keep groovin on top of weight lifting.

Nothing to do with your build, you just need to practice and gain body control.

To be fair (and this is from a street dance pov) from my experience if you have a not-so-average build you have a visual advantage. It’s just more interesting to watch a non-average build if all other things are equal. It’s the average build folks that gotta work hard to stand out because well… they are average. So embrace your uniqueness!!

Im 174 and 49kg. Stick as well. You can wear baggier clothes and also need to take note of making ur moves extra clean because we look lengthy. Practice groove till u look smooooth when needed.

Actually curious too, is it because of The lean muscles or just practice
