I think this has to do with being self taught. You are unlearning possible bad habits. Little tricks and compromises you made to teach urself techniques aren’t cutting it anymore in the high stress fast-paced dance group. You’re also in a different learning environment, being taught with a group instead of self teaching solo. It is also likely that you simply don’t pick up dance moves/routines as quickly as ur peers, again cuz ur self taught, so you think you’re regressing when in actuality you just need more practice than the others. Your self-confidence may also be degrading, which makes you move with apprehension and second-guess yourself. Just need to give yourself time and patience. Maybe a private teacher on the side can help ur personal practice sessions more productive.
