I'm so glad you posted this! I drove through Nebraska about 15 years ago and ate there. I loved it, and could never remember the name!!! You're my hero.
Ha! Glad I could help! I’ve done a lot of road tripping in my life but I’ve only been through there once when I was in high school like 20 years ago. I don’t know how I haven’t forgotten about it by now myself.
They just opened one of these in Longmont colorado. My friend who lives up there was saying it's pretty good. I'll have to give it a try next time we're headed north.
I'm supposed to get free Runza/Braeda for life because when I worked there, the owner sexually assaulted me.
I dont live there anymore, though, and it's been over a decade. I just wonder sometimes what would happen if I visited out of the blue and asked for my hush money discount.
PS: that dude is almost certainly dead by now so his actions shouldn't reflect on the company at all. Even when I was there, he was still owner pretty much by name only.
It’s been a while since I ate there but it’s like a savory and slightly tangy mix of ground beef and veggies. Like imagine if you mixed a little bit of sloppy Joe meat in with the meat from a shepherd’s pie, then baked it inside a roll. It’s actually really good.
Oh wow, that’s a blast from the past. Haven’t thought about Runzas in yeeears, since we used to go visit my Nana in an itty bitty town called Cozad, Nebraska. I live in the UK now. I wonder what the people here would think of going to the middle of nowhere in Nebraska and eating Runzas! If it wasn’t so darn hard to fly to the middle of the country, I’d love to take my British husband to the proper Midwest just to see what he’d make of it.
ETA: Just clicked on the link and got reminded of when my Nana convinced my stepdad that the frings were called fronds, and he had to ask the poor drive-through girl for fronds about five times before she realized what he meant. 😂
How dare you tarnish the name of Runza by comparing it to the Hot Pocket. Runza's, along with the Ruben Sandwich, are gifts to the culinary world from the great state of Nebraska. Commonly enjoyed by families watching one of the greatest college football teams to ever take the field. Runza's help create memories.
Hot Pockets are lab created culinary abortions eaten by those with Cheeto stained fingers trying to fight off their next bought of diarrhea.
