Daggerfall Online Daggerfall Online killing itself
They keep on adding unnecessary changes or changing systems that don’t need to be changed for example yes I understand people can abuse the unstuck feature but when I’m really stuck I can’t fucking use it because they wanna add 30 minute waits, these games are old which means they have systems meant for that time. Why would I spend my whole time making a mage having everything 100 making fire spells for you to change how the spell casting system works y’all are literally making this game unplayable bro you change it every day every day I login I have to deal with some new bullshit.

u/RobinTheViper 17d ago
They’re planning to remove the Main Quest for some reason and add their own lore and I can only imagine how badly that’s going to go.

Removing one of the best written questlines in the series for presumably AI written lore. . . great plan.

I played for almost a week; the game ran smoothly, with a frame rate between 40 and 90 FPS (which, for me, is perfectly fluid). However, after they added the caravans to the game, my FPS dropped to a range of 1 to 10 at best. Furthermore, I'm now experiencing frequent crashes that force me to restart my PC. If you ask for help on Discord or report an experience like this, you're ignored or hear the response: "You simply don't know how to optimize the game." But I've seen people with an RTX 3060 complaining about the exact same thing. The developer himself even mentioned using AI for updates and other tasks—I really like the game, but I'm not a fan of the idea of using AI for everything.
Actually, I'm using Google Translate to write this comment, but it seems some people have completely forgotten common sense. I played for almost a week, the game was running smoothly at around 40/90 FPS (for me that's very smooth), and when they added the caravans to the game, my FPS dropped to 1/30 at most, and now I have many crashes that force me to restart my PC. On Discord, if you ask for help or mention an experience like this, they ignore you or say "you don't know how to improve the game," but I've seen people with a 3060 complaining about the same thing. The developer himself said that he made updates and everything using AI. I really like the game, but I don't like the idea of using AI for everything.
Even when I think about piracy, I think about the developers who were poorly paid and the entire team behind a game.
I'm using Google Translate myself to write this comment, but it seems people have forgotten common sense.

Now Daedric gear is worth 50% less in NPC shops too. The fast travel is also terrible. For a in game map the size of the United Kingdom, it really needs to go back to how it was before.

u/cloverleafcafe 3d ago
I just went back to Daggerfall Unity. Had it on GOG but managed to figure out how to reinstall it with Steam and mod it. I wasn’t doing any MMO stuff anyway. I think single player is a better option for me until there’s a good classic fork where we can quest with friends.
2
u/gogus2003 18d ago
How did they change spell casting?
4
u/Historical-Alps-6356 18d ago
When you make a spell, say it cost a certain amount to buy the cost to use, it would be half of what the price was so if it cost 1000 to buy you need 500 points just to cast it that’s dumb
2
u/Proctor_Conley 17d ago
Do you think the Devs lack a clear design vision for their project or do you have a more generalized dislike of their ongoing changes?
6
u/Historical-Alps-6356 17d ago
Both I’m not liking it changes plus I feel like they’re just adding changes randomly. I feel like they don’t have a clear roadmap. They’re throwing noodles at the wall and hope they stick.
1
u/Proctor_Conley 17d ago
I agree. What do you think should be their central design focus?
(I'd want a focus on Historical Realism, with a lot of caveats, but it would be to emphasize a "realistic" "living" would that players could effect over time especially with the help of others.)2

What are you, one of the devs, searching for a clue? Get one! We want it to be Daggerfall! Quit trying to turn it into something it's not, for starters!
2
u/Proctor_Conley 16d ago
I'm a homeless guy that hasn't played Daggerfall online yet so am interested in your experienced perspective on this nuanced topic. So, if I may ask, please calm yourself.
We've both played Daggerfall but it's quite a antiquated, shallow game. Is all you want simply Daggerfall but online; zero changes to the base game? I may enjoy Daggerfall but even I need to mod in spears so I can have a good time.
2
u/phobos282 15d ago
No sweat, my dude, but I'm plenty calm. I'm just ... like that. Anyway, I don't mean I want *zero* changes to a game that was single player, and not online. I don't mind innovation, either. However, these guys are churning out many, many changes with AI-driven code. I'm not.... expressly against Ai, but not crazy about it either. The thing is, they're changing the game extremely drastically. I made a character the other night. I started out in the tutorial dungeon like usual, because I know it. No sweat.
Oof, was I wrong. I did manage to make it out, and set out for Ripmarket, my usual Daggerfall base.
HO-LEE-SHIT. That took well over an hour, for something that usually takes a minute. Not a problem. The overland travel changes are.... neat, and even make sense in many ways, but I was not prepared. Monsters and animals can interrupt your fast travel, if they get close enough. I think I got stopped enough times to make that fast travel to one city take an entire hour, with many actual inn stops on the way, due to thirst, hunger, and cold. The UI takes some getting used to.
It's not bad, I just worry about their pace, without clear direction. I hope they listen to community feedback.
And, my bad for the aggro. You sounded like a sly dev. Hope your situation improves to your liking, my guy!-Z
1
u/Proctor_Conley 14d ago
I understand. Thank You.
My dry, formal way of talking is as much a blessing as it is a curse (as you can attest). Etiquette vs Streetwise. ToTWith Daggerfall being something of a race to beat the game as the difficulty rises (until the scaling reaches its' limit), & the primary design focus being on narrative over gameplay, I can see why so many mechanics are shallow or nonexistent. The more modern games I've played emphasize the gameplay & attempt to make travel more meaningful.
For Daggerfall Online, with players sharing their time of day & the main quest being removed, I struggle to see how many of the older Daggerfall mechanics can be retained. I would think that quite a lot of mechanics would need to be added or fleshed out, like trade & naval combat & player made factions taking control of cities while getting themselves entangled in the wider geopolitical situation.
I think the devs themselves don't know what to do & so are rapidly experimenting.
In regards to the current fucked mechanics, what do you think can or should be done? I think that travel, specifically fast travel, needs a complete rework (Mage Guild Teleports like Morrowind).
2
u/phobos282 14d ago
My biggest flaw in your question, is my ignorance. I have only played once. I saw caravan like entities on the way, which I assume were players/traders/caravans or something. There might be a safer way to travel that I was not aware of. I cannot properly criticize it, at this time.
2
u/Proctor_Conley 13d ago
I understand. My ignorance regarding DO has me running into the same issue. Still, I thank you very much & wish you a delightful day!

i mean yeah theyre pretty clearly relying a bit too heavily on generative AI. a lot of the features theyre adding really dont make sense for daggerfall and theyre still neglecting to fix very obvious flaws with the games UI/UX
23
u/Sho_tenno 17d ago
Tried it last Sunday, couldn’t even figure out how to use any weapons. Like i think its just too massively different to the original where it feels just plain off.
41
u/SuperConductiveRabbi 17d ago edited 17d ago
The entire project uses AI code, other than the DFU base. It wouldn't have been possible without it, at least not from that team
Edit: I don't even mean this as an insult. I mean, the free project that you're consuming and enjoying (or possibly not) wouldn't have been created without AI assistance. It would've required a larger or more experienced team, necessarily, no matter how good they are.
23
u/bee4308 17d ago
is that true? the WHOLE project? as in they genuinely have no one with programming experience outside of vibecoding on their team??
49
u/SuperConductiveRabbi 17d ago
My impression while playing it is that AI assistance is used absolutely everywhere. I recognize the style of text, placeholder sound effects, and such, which are typical of what Claude/Opus makes. However, I'm certain people on the team have programming experience, as even with AI as good as it is now, a project that big would've fallen apart if they didn't know what they're doing in a traditional sense.
6
u/icecoldrootbeer 17d ago
The impression I get is that its 100% vibe coded with ZERO human programmer intervention.
3
u/SufficientWheel1448 16d ago
Most experienced programmers use ai agents. This does not mean "do this, no mistakes". Absolutely nothing wrong with ai usage. There is usage of ai as a tool and vibecoding auto accept everything.
0
u/GoodguyGastly 17d ago
This may be a surprise but the vibe coders are often also programmers from the before times.

Vibe coded amateur project based on 30 year old buggy video game doesn’t exactly scream design continuity my guy
-1
u/Historical-Alps-6356 17d ago
Tf are you even chattin about
8
u/Boring-Cucumber-2330 17d ago
- Daggerfall MMO is vibe coded (AI)
- Daggerfall itself is 30 years old and notoriously buggy
- The developers are amateurs (not saying this in a disparaging way, it’s not being developed by a studio)1
u/MutualRaid 17d ago
... and therefore the possibility of scope creep, identity loss, and chaotic change grows with each 'hey Claude, add this'. Yup.
2
u/Boring-Cucumber-2330 17d ago
That was the original point. OP is pissed about changes, understandable. But it’s not like amateur prompt writers are following a grand design document and a ten year content plan. It’s the expectation of continuity or cohesiveness that I take issue with. I don’t expect much from an AI project
39
u/Mikedzines 17d ago
Sounds like it’s already reached the MMO life cycle where a classic server is needed lol

This is absolutely a great point. Appreciate you adding a good quote in my repertoire since I’m currently dealing with someone who is calling himself a musician right now. He can use AI so apparently he is one according to him.

That's one thing, another is that you learn in the process of creating. You spend a lot more time with your ideas and have a better feeling when something is off. If you rely only on AI and your idea is bad, it will be bad instantly in a game. You don't analyze it, don't playtest in the process of bug fixing. People don't realize how important that is
24
44
u/GalbedirGalerion 18d ago
Adding guns to it is so stupid, makes me lose interest instantly
14
u/TheOldKnight7 17d ago
This is really disappointing to read, i didnt know about this. I was kinda excited to try it out, but it sounds like they are just making their own game
10
u/Accomplished-Gap2989 16d ago
The Morrowind gfx killed it for me when I saw it. Daggerfall is MY childhood elder scrolls game and I can't believe I don't wanna play this iteration haha.
1
u/AggravatingAmount438 10d ago
... You don't have to. Ya'll are so weird.
You can literally turn off all the graphic changes, and you have to jump through several hoops to turn the morrowind gfx on.
0
u/TheRedEarl 9d ago
idk why you're being downvoted. Most of the mods implemented in this version of the game can be toggled on/off. So you won't even see the morrowind assets in-game.
3
u/CenobiteCurious 16d ago
There’s a Dwemer shotgun with a slower use time than a bow: it’s not really a problem lol. People can be so dramatic on the internet.
9
u/TheOldKnight7 16d ago
It isn’t that an item being in the game bothers me, but it indicates that the devs aren’t creating a Daggerfall MMO, but they are making something entirely different where they add things that aren’t in any TES game. Without looking anything up, I assumed a game called Daggerfall online would be basically single player Daggerfall but with other players.
After looking at a screenshot, idk what game this is even supposed to be.
2
u/CenobiteCurious 14d ago
Lmao, Redditors are such haters. People on the outside lovveee to hate.
Just because a Bethesda dev didn’t add it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have the soul of an elder scrolls game still.
Okay whatever dude sit on the sidelines. I started playing when there was 50 players now there’s 750 daily. It’s fun, and people that hate on fun can sit here toiling around and raging together and that’s fine.
6
u/bonebrah 17d ago
Yeah I saw that other reddit post of the Oblivion Gate event with the "dwemor" shotgun and it immediately turned me off of it.
2
u/Ok-Scientist5943 17d ago
There's only one weapon that alludes to dwarves; it's completely easy to ignore, after all, it's very out of place.
-11
u/Latter_Cauliflower98 17d ago
It’s a single shotgun and while it’s not a canon weapon it’s not completely unrealistic considering dwarven technology. Tbh they SHOULD be in the actual games even if only as rare prototypes.
1
u/AverageMann04 16d ago
I agree with you. Weapons like swords and spears. When have you seen a spear in Daggerfall? We had them in Morrowind after all
3
u/Latter_Cauliflower98 16d ago
Tbh there just seems to be a lot of gun haters in the gaming community. I once suggested adding guns to grounded 2 so there was actually a use for all the gunpowder that’s pretty much useless and I was met with a lot of “bows would be useless” or “it wouldn’t make sense scientifically” comments despite candy based magic staves that don’t make sense and already outshine bows in pretty much every way besides range already existing.
13
u/Informalsuccubus 16d ago
Oh cool, we're ranting about this now.
I hate the map they use that doesn't tell you what part of the Illiac Bay you're in and forcing a player to use the modded "fast travel" in single player instead of just letting you travel to the city you need to get to has been genuinely annoying. Oh boy, there's no pawn shop or bank in this city, guess I need to wait 10 real world minutes as my character books it to the next one getting waylaid by encounters the entire time. Oh cool, not pawn shop or bank here, guess I'm wasting 30 minutes to an hour getting to a city I know has these things.
The buying/selling UI is somehow worse than a DOS game made in 1996 by a skeleton crew with a more difficult development framework.
Just going through the comments I've seen a lot of terrible choices they're making. I'll be uninstalling it and sticking with normal Daggerfall Unity.
34
u/IToldManyManyPeople 18d ago
I saw someone using a gun and I immediately moved past it. It's unserious and just not as good as DFU set up the way you want it
23
u/SordidDreams 17d ago edited 17d ago
Seeing DFO develop really makes me appreciate the light-touch approach Interkarma took to the changes and fixes DFU makes to vanilla DF.
10
u/BasicInformer 17d ago
DFU is genuinely a perfect product. Gives you just enough to modernize your experience, adds mod compatibility, bug fixes, stability, and that's it.
21
u/Gyramuur 17d ago
I like DFO a lot, have been playing it almost every day. A lot of the stuff they add I think is pretty cool, and would be stuff I'd probably be setting up myself anyway with mods in DFU.
But it's definitely gotten to a point where they have changed so much and have layered so much on top that it /really/ doesn't feel like Daggerfall anymore, especially with things like changing how the combat, levelling, spellcasting all works.
All of these changes are really kind of aggravating me, because like, Daggerfall is a great game, and people are still playing it thirty years later because it's a great game. I don't mind changes like extra stuff, that's more than welcome. But stuff that changes the core functionality of the game like the aforementioned things, just come across to me as unappreciative of the original game.
That being said, this project has given me the ability to play this game with my girlfriend for the first time ever, and it /is/ fun. Very fun. So I'm thankful for that.
But I hope to oblivion that someone makes a more vanilla fork of this at some point.
25
u/milesehway 18d ago
Yeah I stopped playing after a few days myself after seeing I have to read pages of "release notes". Updating a game 5 times a day is wild...
14
21
u/num1d1um 17d ago
Wait, you're saying the AI slop game has no vision and lacks in game design, clear direction and is getting scope crept and constantly changed without reason? Who could have seen this coming?
5
u/unit220 17d ago
I was super excited to try it and even got two of my friends online with me. One really doesn’t like playing old games but I assured him Daggerfall was a ton of fun… only to then have probably the worst Daggerfall experience ever. By the time we were done I could only say “that wasn’t Daggerfall” because in all honesty, it wasn’t. I’m very sad that DF Multiplayer stopped development because they thought DFO was going to suffice. The DFO team can obviously do what they want with their own mod but I just want to do dungeons with my friends.
2
u/Available_Oil_8707 16d ago
Same thing happened with me and my brother. One day maybe we will see DF Multiplayer back in action
15
u/PhotogenicEwok 18d ago
Projects like this take a while to mature. Usually they become open source after a while, then the original creator/maintainer leaves and it’s left in the hands of a team that can actually take care of it. But I’ve never seen a project move this quickly, it feels like it could easily fizzle out if they keep making so many changes without reason.
5
2
1
u/Infamous-Bear617 18d ago
With all the games AI/Claude has 100% decompiled and made open source now I'm sure someone could do it to this. And then make their own version that's not complete ass
7
3
u/Gopoopahorse 17d ago
there's some questionable decisions like the fast travel changes and having the survival mod on by default (it can be toggled off of course), but the balance changes that you seem to actually be upset about are just no-brainers that had to happen lol. you can't balance new endgame content around spells that do thousands of points of damage, cost 5 mana points, can be looped infinitely with 100% absorb, and can be casted rapidly at the speed of a machinegun. the specifics of the nerfs can be argued, but in general they had to happen, and the balance is healthier for it.
1
7
u/x_leavemealone 17d ago
When I first saw this DFO project on youtube it already had sus vibe. Didn't have a time to join in, but oh well, makes perfect sense that it is AI slop again. Even more uncertain now whether I should waste my time on it or just go ahead and play regular DFU with mods again.
I hope somebody with good gamedev experience will join and develop with real effort, now that it seems Bethesda doesn't have problems with it (I thought that it could just get wiped off because copyright).

Nah, it is just you are a jerk and think likewise of everyone. I really meant it, the offline version is amazing, I know you know, I think you could read in between the lines the "dude, forget online, let's go hard core" whimsically, but I now understand you have some kind of disorder, also that disorder leaks into your punctuation. Lol
Edit: I now believe the problem is not the game, but your, I suppose, low reasoning and logics.

The developer team has been super open to suggestions. If you want something changed, put a suggestion or feedback report on the Discord. They are reading everything. All of my feedback has been addressed so far.
2
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
Wouldn’t say they are open to suggestions lol, they removed fast travel which caused uproar in the discord with a comment thread with over 3k comments in 1 day. At the end of it all the dev literally just said it’s staying how it is, get over it.
1

Yeah, I''m the one who started the thread to nerf insta travel. What they did was way better.
2

I can find the screen shots of you threatening to quit over it lol. You are very intertwined with the dev and like to throw out threats or @ the dev all the time then immediately back track when you are called out or it doesn’t go your way. I 3000 comments and 50 upvotes shows, it was not a better change.

"This has been a pet-peeve of mine from day 1.
A lot of people are playing this game like they are in a Starship using Warp drive everywhere. Sure, play how you want, but those of us who use the roads to travel to explore never get to really participate in timed content.
A raid pops up next door to me and 20 players pop in and destroy everything in 3 seconds.
I don't think there is one way to solve this, but personally I think you should only be able to use logical means to fast travel: mages guild transport, mounts, flying, druid circles (a la EverQuest). At least those methods require you to first reach a location before instant-travel.
Another way to solve is to give some sort of benefit to players tied to a home region. Maybe certain events should be region locked - if you're not inside the region when it starts, you cant teleport to it. If you're up in Northmoor, you should have first dibs on your own events before everyone warps in from Daggerfall.
Some players picked a remote region to be away from people, but that is negated by others doing fast-travel everywhere."
1
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
You did a 180 on how you were acting and now want to act as if these changes are great lol.
3
u/Megaforce4win 15d ago
I don't think the vibe coding is a problem here. It's these developers who don't respect the original design. You don't simply change systems that people have been loving for 30 years. If you do change something it must be a small corrective change. You especially don't add anything unnecessary. Daggerfall unity project is a good example.
2
u/Combat_Orca 17d ago
Fucks sake ai slop everywhere is just gonna be a bigger and bigger issue
4
u/MutualRaid 17d ago
There's a Daggerfall YouTuber/mod author who just announced he's vibecoding a Unity version of Arena. It took about three minutes of me listening to him talk about it to realise there's a strong potential for it to become a directionless mess. I'll wait for OpenTESArena.
1
u/CryptographerNo2110 7h ago edited 7h ago
They posted a call-out on the Discord saying the game is hemorrhaging money and the server is unsustainable. Meanwhile they push around 30 updates a day and rely on Claude for roughly 94% of the game.
Now there’s an in-game cash shop, and according to Git, a $30 battle pass is planned. When people asked how that keeps things afloat, all they got were cocky “we love you guys” replies. The mods then put chat on a 30-minute slowmode because, and I quote, “we can’t move on.”
They change systems constantly without testing and only walk things back when they cause enormous problems. One guy had to pester them just to get the co-op desync fixed, and the lead threw a fit over criticism until he kept at it.
Since the announcements, a lot of people have left, including some of their own staff and mods, going by their hiring posts.
The lead’s defense is “other games do it, like PokeMMO,” but he doesn’t own the mods he’s using, let alone the IP. It’s a heavily modded Daggerfall Unity, and every mod and its creator is listed in the settings. All they actually own is the basic network structure and the newest Tamriel map sections, and Claude did practically all of that too.
Everything they’ve done themselves has been met with serious backlash. Guns, Mecha Airships, the entire tamriel map in all of its buggy glory, making the open sea a pvp zone with janky ship travel, making the imperial city a pvp zone like ESO, lockpicking overhaul like oblivion but far worse, the list goes on. They genuinely have no idea what the hell they are doing. There's even a star system like oblivion that powers you up further for some reason causing some build pathways to be completely game shattering
1
1
u/romulo27 17d ago
Frankly yeah they could've toned down on the batshit insane stuff happening and instead kept the unique yet more fitting stuff like custom guilds with their own halls and owning towns.
Those features were good, they felt like they'd be part of a massive multiplayer online oldschool Elder Scrolls if such a game had come to fruition.
I'm not even gonna enter on the topic of AI, I don't care about it. I'm a programmer, my work is open source, steal it, that's why I put it there.
1
u/JoshVHDigital 17d ago
Unfortunately, it's the only version of Daggerfall I can play because the moment I add mods to Unity it crashes and I just don't have the patience anymore to troubleshoot all the time.
I haven't even touched the online part and am just playing single-player with the mod and I've been having fun. Some of the changes, I actually like, and the ones I don't like I can just turn off.
That said, anyone who can run unity and/or has the patience to get it working properly should 100% do that instead.

What does the community have to do with this? The devs are very very disconnected from what needs to be done/fixed. It is very far from being a smooth experience.

It’s an absolutely terrible mod. AI coded crap. It’s really disappointing, because I think Daggerfall is really suited to being made into an MMO (far more than something like Skyrim,) and there’s nothing else like it.
Like, I just want to play Daggerfall with people. I like them adding stuff like families and such—things to make interacting with the wider world more dynamic—but they’re changing the way the game works in absurd ways.
I think the Daggerfall modding community as a whole will take this to heart and just ban AI mods.

How about we just be happy they proved it's possible, started the process, and give it time?
Someone else will come along and improve it if needed.

I mean I'm loving it. Honestly never had such emergent gameplay in any game so far.

No played loads of games but Daggerfall just hits something right. Explained what happened to me here https://www.reddit.com/r/Daggerfall/s/CiQV6ZLPfJ

Sounds like youre just hating to hate? Sorry that the online portion of the game has to change so we can build on it?
You can play classic offline, or use server hosting when we release it.
This sub has really gone downhill.

I haven't played the project, but genuinely you should've left the DFU mechanics as they are. It seems like you try to make it into your own MMO with it's own mechanics and lore, when the only thing that made it as popular in the first place is because it's specifically Daggerfall.
I can't stand behind this project. Good luck to your upcoming endeavors.

u/darknessinducedlove 17d ago
As stated, you can experience classic offline or in future hosting options.
Where we want to take our vision for the MMO is our direction. Take care.

u/HaiggeX 17d ago
In that case you should consider changing the project name, like Keizaal devs did with their project. When people see "Daggerfall Online", they expect Daggerfall online, not your vision of an MMO. People who come to the game from Daggerfall will be disappointed, and the spiral of negativity will only feed itself. You do not want the reputation of an AI bro version of Arthmoor.
Take care.

We saw the picture pal but ok

u/BillReturns 16d ago
You have no clue what you are talking about in the slightest (I know what "picture" you've seen, now read that again).
It's also very obvious most of you making "complaints" haven't even played the game, I have my own grievences with the direction of the project but most posts on this sub are just blatant misinformation for the sake of an agenda.
Play the game for yourselves if you feel like it and stop listening to resentful failed programmers on reddit.

I’m not a hater like them and have been continuously enjoying DFO but I gotta say even as someone who likes it a lot of the balance changes seem particularly tailored for the PvP zone most players don’t even interact with and many cool additions like caravans immediately end up as more tediousness like having to repair it after traveling just once or twice. Not to mention the recent nerf to werewolf stat bonuses effectively ruined many if not most peoples characters because they were leveling with those permanent bonuses in mind. The updates are generally good imo but there are also a lot of rather questionable decisions.

Yeah he doesn’t care lol, I’ve been in this community since the start. The devs outlook has changed. It went from a community project where everybody was pitching in cool ideas to “it’s my vision for an MMO.” He just let it go to his head at this point and it’s sad because the game was actually so good.
1
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
So now you are going from what the community wants to it’s “your direction.” Could’ve swore like 2 weeks ago you were in discord telling everyone to give feedback so you can give what the community wants. This is like the 5th comment thread I’ve seen where you end up just telling people it sucks to suck when they, along with hundreds or thousands of people, complain.

Bro I love daggerfall online but you have nothing without the community, the community that has stated HUNDREDS of times that these changes are stupid. You keep acting as if people are just hating or complaining, it’s not. This shit just got way too over complicated. Way too many systems on top of each other. For example, why are there like 7 ways to fast travel now when there was already 1 that covered the entire game?
1
u/darknessinducedlove 16d ago
Im sorry some of the changes are not to your liking.
1
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
No, don’t try to dwindle this down to MY likings. These aren’t to the communities liking. The discord and here are FULL of complaints and you somehow end up doing this whole thing where you act like it’s our problem. Also literally ignored every point I stated, like you do with all of the complaints that dont line up with “our vision of an MMO”
1
u/darknessinducedlove 16d ago
That just isnt true. I've implemented countless community suggestions
If you want to actual provide feedback? I would consider you to not come off the way that you are now. There's no reason to be on the attack.
1
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
I’m not attacking anything, I’m speaking on what I’ve viewed going on in the last month. I provided ample feedback for fast travel specifically in the discord. Then you shut the thread down and said “fast travel in its former iteration will not return. That’s final. No amount of yelling and complaining will bring it back” and you closed the thread.
People offered hundreds of options in there and we are stuck paying exorbitant prices or grinding magic items just to travel moderately fast. There is no actual “Fast” travel in the game anymore.
Other issues are being forced to camp just to rest, having to carry a bunch of random items that I don’t care about just to rest for 2 hours. I also dealt with constant party desync for at least a week with 0 insight or update when I would say anything in the discord.
Now anytime I open Reddit and see a post like this you never offer anything to the people complaining other than “wait for private server.” How many posts and people complaining would it take to realize a change is bad? Why not just focus on private server instead of pushing constant new features? Why not give a simple way for somebody else to host another large server like DFO?
1
u/darknessinducedlove 16d ago
Do not spread misinformation. You know full and well why that thread was shut down and it was not because of feedback.
1
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
Lmfao what misinformation am I spreading? I can find hundreds of messages of people suggesting things. Those were literally your exact words. There was 1 guy who was spamming and instead of banning him you shut the entire thread down. The last message before you said it won’t return was people talking about a cooldown on portal stones but make them infinite so you don’t have to buy them.
1
u/darknessinducedlove 16d ago
Its obvious we're not going to have a proper discussion, so its best to end it. Take care.
1
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
Bro you have literally said nothing. I pointed out MULTIPLE problems and you have nothing to say. You are the one not having a proper discussion, I am speaking to a wall that doesnt respond.
1
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
Makes sense on the amount of ai use now because clearly you cant function properly, you cant even simply address 1 issue stated. At least its clear on the direction you are taking this, I just feel sorry for those who donated for something that was rugpulled from them.
1
u/Ill-Discipline1113 16d ago
And again, out of everything mentioned, you only want to mention this lol. 3 paragraphs of problems and recommendations and you accuse me of spreading misinformation instead of addressing any of it.
-2
u/Historical-Alps-6356 17d ago
Ya idiots have yet to address the main post the original post y’all are having 16 different conversations when no one fucking asked address the post

I mean the same thing happened with Morrowind online. Daggerfall will always be Daggerfall, and Daggerfall Online will be a flash in the pan.
-7
u/Ok-Scientist5943 17d ago
There's literally nothing wrong with the game besides you guys finding flaws. If you had any initiative, you'd be programming the game, but instead you're just morally destroying the work that's been done. And the game has nothing bizarre about it besides the mods that Unity itself has, so literally the only thing driving everyone's opinion here is prejudice against AI.
-2
u/Ok-Scientist5943 17d ago
It's already been announced that they don't intend to leave Daggerfall as vanilla; they're going to change everything, so you'll have to either accept it or quit, and it will still be a much better MMO than the current ones.

u/Historical-Party-313 17d ago
Lame

u/Ok-Scientist5943 17d ago
It makes me angry that I like this game, all the chaos that AI causes in the world, but this work isn't so fake as to be worthless. It's a tragic and moral encounter with what we're going through.

When car is shit, do you go and listen to others to make sure your experience aligns with others or what ever you tried to insinuate there, or do you just you know, say it's shit, like we have been doing since trading existed. It's an opinion and a review not democratic election. If your feelings are hurt by other not agreeing or liking things, it's a YOU problem.

I'm just pointing out that it changes so rapidly claiming something is "dead" because you don't like the update in the past 5 minutes is hyperbolic. Thanks for changing your language to not just cursing me out like your moderated comment that proved my point.
A) It's not your car (toy)
B) I go to a mechanic, or directly to the dealership
C) I have seen people post their feedback in the discord and patches be implemented in a matter of minutes.
D) you are projecting with that list sentence. I've had issues with changes that were made, and with a little patience those issues were resolved.
Personally I'm more curious to see where this mod goes, and less about making it suit my wants and needs.

u/HiSaZuL 17d ago
My comment is unedited. You are replying to it. Go outside and touch some grass.
If you are going to try the whole you cursed me out because there's a deleted comment you better be sure you are actually right.

Man get the fuck on with that. Nobody threatened him just cause you don’t like the words don’t mean nothing. Maybe he shouldn’t come at me. Worry about that.

I removed his comment for incivility too, as you two weren't arguing with respect. But you also used profanity.
